It's really quite simple to modify the inf for any given hardware ID. I'm suprised more people aren't fleunt with doing it by now in order to keep up-to-date with driver versions themselves.

So can you explain to me because is not clear, how the various "SectionXX" call various modules of gpu like "optimus""Gsync compatibility" etc?

Because I've a  MSI 1060 mxm (id: 1C60) on my m18x-R2 and not really sure that all works as intended.

Thanks

To be honest i'd do it myself but never seen a guide that isn't simple enough to learn from it :\

Saw one on NBR but its so confusing

EDIT:

Found one but doesn't explain how to mod drivers to activate SLI on the fly

@J95 I'm wondering what the benefit of the modded drivers are? I've read the first few pages and can't seem to get it in my head.

Also, I have an AORUS X5V6 with GTX 1070 - if I provided the files would you be able to mod the driver?

Thanks man.

Theese are just modded display drivers AFAIK. Like The detonators back in the days.

They wont do wonders like change the GPU but meybe add one frame here and there

and thats it, eventually lower input lag, but this is also dependant on the actual

driver settings you are using.

Driver Signature Enforcement.

Open command prompt in Administrator mode then type:  "bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy" (without quotes)  -> Hit enter -> reboot -> Keep holding "F8" key -> Select "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement" -> finally Install drivers.

So, I'm having a hell of a time, getting my windows 10 (I just had an update for windows 10, that seemed to reset my video card driver settings and is now default, I'm trying to get it to recognize my Nvidia GTX 680m card, I've used your modded files in the past and it worked fine, tried the same procedure to them working again and I keep getting a failure at the install drivers completion, which didnt happen before, so I can only assume it has something with my having some issues, getting into safe mode and DSE, and the admin command line) to go into safe mode, pressing F8..... I saw an earlier post, about using the shift key and pressing start, then restart, which does seem to work in a round about way.  But after going into safe mode to type the admin command prompt line, which works fine, when I restart and try to get it to the DSE selection screen I don't seem to be able to get a restart.  Any ideas??

@jaug1337 for that model try out "PEG" Clevo/MSI nv_dispi.inf, just copy both nv_dispi.inf & nvmii.inf (MSI).

SO, I just noticed something in your instructions, about the nv_dispi.inf and "NVDMI.INF" files, are we supposed to be copying both files into the Driver.Display folder after extraction, before using setup?  In the past I thought it was only the one file "nv_dispi.inf" ................  thanks - Diffuse

Yes, both files should be copied before starting the installation.

I used the earlier 382.05 modified inf file on the newest drivers to come out an it installed without issue. Seems to run fine as well.

Just couldnt figure out what to edit exactly for my M18Xr2 so used the old one for the hell of it and it installed for me. Makes me wonder why we need a new version every time then if the old ones work....

Any 980M owners have throttling tips for Windows 10?

My Firestrike score was great on Windows 8 but I'm stuck at 8600 on Windows 10.

I've tried the Hibernate trick and also Nvidia Inspector clocks.

I might try re-pasting this weekend.

Anyone have an issue with the NVIDIA Control Panel vanishing from the desktop context menu? Concurrent with this it will not launch from the control panel, it is there it just crashes on launch. It comes back if you reinstall the drivers, but it vanishes again. This happened for 382.05 and 384.76.

See logfile attached, you will need this to view: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645

It looks "normal" to me until you see the BUFFER OVERFLOW errors during font linking...

9:40:24.8186378 AM    nvcplui.exe    7128    RegEnumValue    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\FontLink\SystemLink    BUFFER OVERFLOW    Index: 0, Length: 220

I reinstalled and added a logfile where the control panel worked.

      Hi there guys,

I've been looking into getting a new GPU for my laptop (4-lane PCI-e) and enclosure (HP Omen Enclosure) but I cannot decided between the RX 5700 XT and the RTX 2070 (non SUPER).

I did some price to performance calculations (higher is better) with some of the best prices I can currently get in the UK.

The RX 5700 XT does perform better and is cheaper than the RTX 2070 (Although the 2070 does come with 2 games) but my main concern is drivers and from what I've heard NVIDIA cards work a lot better with eGPUs than AMD.

If anyone has experience using both red & green or if anyone else has any other input i'd love to hear your experiences and input.

      Thanks.

Hi guys, I am the proud owner of a Clevo p775dm3-g notebook purchased from azom.systems (authorized Clevo reseller in India, Model rebranded as Azom Legion-17.3 inches). Here are my specs:

Core i7 7700 (non-K version): undervolted by 110 mv and turbo boost disabled in BIOS- machine uses prema mod BIOS.
GTX 1080: undervolted by 100 mv on all frequency steps using MSI afterburner voltage/frequency curve editor. clocks are untouched.
16 GB DDR4: Cant remember clocks.
1440p 120 Hz screen: No tinkering done to refresh rate.

CPU has been delidded and repaste has been done on both CPU/GPU dies with gallium based TIM-Coolaboratory liquid ultra if I recall correctly.

My issue is GPU hitting max temp limit of 90 degrees while playing DOOM and framerate drops from 110 avg to mid 60s-70s with horrible stuttering- this is thermal throttling for sure.

System was running beautifully after repaste at 86 degrees max/ 77 degrees average at 100 percent fan speed. A month later I decided to see how much further I could push the system and ended up undervolting the CPU/GPU and RAM even further. The RAM undervolting part didnt work as well as I'd hoped, and I ended up resetting the BIOS to undo everything and reapply the previous setting (-110 for CPU with turbo boost disabled.)

I noticed that immediately after BIOS reset, both my CPU and GPU temps were 5-10 degrees higher even with the undervolt/underclock applied. Also, I think the fans were a bit louder before I reset the BIOS which leads me to believe that for some reason the fans are now capped at 80% max fan speed. There doesnt seem to be a fan speed selector in the BIOS or anywhere else so I cant say for sure whether this is a fan related issue or something else. Before the reset I could override the BIOS setting and set the fans to 100% by pressing fn+1, could I have done something to that setting after resetting the BIOS ? I dont think I have damaged the CPU or GPU as temps are holding fairly steady at 90-91 degrees and laptop doesn't shut down while gaming.

If I have overlooked something or if anyone reading this has any solution help would be greatly appreciated.
All settings/drivers/windows version/app version are exactly the same before and after BIOS reset.

      Hello everyone,
some time by now I flashed a custom Vbios (thank you Klem) on an Acer Predator 15 G9-591 and I started doing some tests about how far I could go overclocking the gtx 970m without running too hot. With the voltage up to 1150mV and something like 300 additional MHz for the core clock, in the strongest stress condition for both Gpu and Cpu ( i7-6700hq undervolted), the Gpu reaches a max temp of 85C (with some 86 spikes but never more than that).
Considering that soon I'm going to relid both Cpu and Gpu and clean everything in the internals (laptop is 4 years old) I think I'm going to have some additional heatroom.
I've already tested some further overclocking and I noticed that even if the temperatures remains under 93C (which is just for testing purposes, but after relidding temps could be nicer) graphical glitches occur and after some time most games crash. But my question is, could it be because of lack of power supply? The laptop charger provides 180W
Could there be an increase in overclock margins with a 230W psu or something like that? (Obviously with the same 19.5V output)
If anybody tried something like that on any laptop model, or knows the matter, I'd like to know
