  1. I've also uploaded some pics of my adapter mod there. I'll post those pics here too. Doesn't look pretty but it works great! That part is going to be inside the laptop anyway. Created an aluminium enclosure for the pcb and added a slimline sata extension cable to utilize the slimline sata port. It's very sturdy now. I don't have to aim for the ultrabcay connector anymore. Just slide it in and both ultrabay and slimline sata port fits perfectly. You can see the sata cable coming out from the back. That's connected to the slimline sata extender cable. I can plug it in & out on demand. Don't have pics of the other side right now. This is the final setup. Still working on the enclosure that's why you can see some white masking tape. After i'm done i'll paint it all black like the rest of the enclosure. Hard to paint the aluminium sheet without a primer. Also created a backplate for the graphics card.
  2. Done. I've created a guide. https://e g p u .i o /forums/builds/2013-15-6-lenovo-y510p-gt755m-sli-gtx107064gbps-uba-ultrabay-adapter-win10-intruder/
  3. Great! I can create the guide for y510p. I might copy your guide and modify it just because I'm a bit lazy lol.
  4. THANK YOU! I was not aware of this kind of protection. I researched about it and looks like it's due to "Under Voltage Protection". So i begin testing while the PSU was still attached to my friends desktop (all connectors connected to hdd, cd drive, fans etc.). Only the 20 pin atx & 8 pin pcie was attached to my ultrabay & graphics card resp. When i ran the benchmark everything ran great. There was no shutdown of the PSU. Then i disconnected the peripherals one by one and discovered that i needed only 1 hdd connected to the sata power cable to keep the system running. I didn't even connect the data cable. Tl;dr, i only need to connect a hdd to sata power cable from PSU to prevent it from shutting down! So my final setup is like this: From psu: 20 pin atx connector to ultrabay 8 pin power connector to graphics card 15 pin sata connector to HDD From laptop: Sata data cable (from slimsata port) to HDD BTW I've also made an ultrabay caddy with a slimsata adapter so that i can use both ultrabay as well as the slimsata port at the same time. I'll post some pictures as soon as i get time. Cheers!
  5. Which thermal paste? DO NOT undervolt with modded BIOS. If you only want to undervolt use ThrottleStop. Use search funtion. It has been discussed a lot of times.
  6. Hey guys. I'm having a weird issue with my power supply. I was using a cheap artis 500w psu (borrowed from a friend) with my 1070 mini which needs additional 8-pin pcie connector and everything was working great. The card was using upto 160w power. My friend needed that psu back so I gave it to him and now i bought corsair VS450. Now the card is detected and i can play some less demanding games but when the power load of 1070 reaches 110W, the PSU shuts off. I don't know what to do now as it's the only PSU i have. I tested both the graphics card as well as the psu in the desktop together and everything's working fine. The difference between those 2 psu is that the 500w one had multiple rails whereas the vs450 has single rail. Any ideas what i can do now?
  7. Ah. Now i get it. I forgot he's using y500. I'll keep an eye out for solutions.
  8. You have to restart after disabling gpu. I still have a hard time understanding what you want to do here. Posting a screenshot will help. Also, if you want to define which app should use which gpu you can do that in Nvidia Control Panel as well. I'm waiting for my new psu to arrive then I'll test the "Display Settings" option.
  9. I didnt get what you mean exactly. If you want to run egpu with internal display then all you have to do is disable dedicated gpu (GT755 in my case). I've also made a script to disable the dGPU at startup. Now my dGPU is always disabled and i can use eGPU (1070) to drive the internal screen. If you want to access the option to use specific gpu for a specific application then go to "Settings" -> "System" -> "Display" -> "Graphics Settings" -> Now you have to select the app and gpu you want to use for that app. You'll need 1803 version for this.
  10. I think it can be done from BIOS. I never tried it though. I'm currently using two HDD caddy's, 1 for HDD and 1 as an enclosure for the adapter. Having HDD+ultrabay adapter in 1 caddy is not possible as it increases the thickness too much. It can be squeezed into the slot but i rather prefer two caddy's. Yes. Creating an enclosure for GPU+PSU is easy. You'll just need a working pcie riser cable to connect ultrabay adapter with the enclosure.
  11. Use the search function. I've never seen that one in this thread. The only cable that worked as claimed by a user is the 3M one. The thing is nobody can tell which riser will work. You'll have to try it out yourself. Make sure to buy those which you can return if they didn't work.
  12. From "Device Manager". Yesterday i borrowed my friends 1050 Ti (without power connector) and it worked perfectly with internal screen. @High_VoltageThanks a lot for the BIOS mod. There was another user who reported that 3M riser cable worked fine. Take a look at the ultrabay thread for more info.
  13. Nice. Thanks. I was also planning to buy a riser cable to put gpu away from laptop but first i need to buy a gfx card If you ever use a pcie extension cable do let us know which one you used. Some of them does not work as posted in this thread. It would be good to have an idea on which cables work.
  14. @balint234 Glad that it worked out for you. If possible do post some benchmark scores with that card. I'd love to see those scores with or without external screen. Can you also show the bandwidth with CUDA-Z (performance tab)? Thanks!
  15. I'm also in for the 2 in 1 mod. That would help extending the life of Y510p.
  16. ^ Agreed. A cable option would be great.
  17. Amazing work! Truly appreciated!
  18. Interesting. You'll need to ask any BIOS modder to help with that.
  19. I don't think so. Opening the back cover won't void your warranty if you are worried about it.
  20. Normal would work just fine. I'm using the same for a year now. Best wifi card i've used so far. Best part, it even works on mac OSX.
  21. You cannot Disable iGPU in Optimus Systems. There is no way.
  22. Search for "Broadcom BCM94352HMB". Its an "ac" card with a rated speed of 867 MBps. I know a guy in insanelymac forum's using it without modding BIOS. I'm using it too but with modded one.
  23. Search for "Broadcom BCM94352HMB". Its an "ac" card with a rated speed of 867 MBps. I know a guy in insanelymac forum's using it without modding BIOS. I'm using it too but with modded one.
  24. Intel Internal Wireless will never work. You must replace it with a Mac compatible one (BCM4352) or use a USB Wifi which causes sleep issues. I already posted a link to this guide before but someone said it didnt worked. Thanks for confirming.
