  3. It does have the freefall sensor, I had to install the driver for it. And that actually had crossed my mind. Because once when it froze up I tried to open an app and it said the file couldn't be found. It was acting as if the HDD had just disappeared. So maybe that is the case. I wonder if it will deactivate the sensor if I uninstall the driver for the accelerometer? In any case, it's running great at the moment. I just ran a 32-bit geekbench score of 8622 (haven't bought it yet so I can't run it in 64-bit) EDIT: Did some digging on the freefall sensor and found this "The Free Fall Sensor also seems to cause the laptop to wake to a black screen/blue screen from hibernation/sleep, by the way. So it's better to keep it disabled or uninstall the driver." I had also experienced that. Disabling the freefall sensor now...

  4. So, I got my m14x with the 2.2Ghz processor and 8GB of RAM and shortly after first running it I got a blue screen. So I re-installed to factory image and I got another one. After that I used the DVD to clean install windows and then installed drivers over top of that. It takes about 2 whole minutes to get from logon screen to even see the desktop, and often, ALL applications freeze including windows explorer + taskbar for 30+ seconds but the mouse still moves and then they just all come back. What do I do!?

  5. Hey guys... I'm in modding mood, again, hahaha Got my hands on a Nvidia 470m and put it in a G73JW. Unfortunately Windows won't boot.... "Valid MXM structure not found". Does anyone of you have any idea about this? Every idea is greatly appreciated. Here's all the info of the card that nvflash gives me: Btw, I'll try the 6970m again later, maybe I messed up something last time... I mean it did boot with the 6970m...

  9. Going to stick with A01 or now. No need for the bios to control my "battery" settings. I am doing fine on my own.

  12. No sorry, the 470m works only with 2d clocks in the M15x, but the card is definitely in working order (that the card runs only in 2d mode in the M15x is a known issue). The 6970m works still perfectly in the M15x I'll try to get the 470m working in the M15x as well, but it has been tried already by Inap and didn't work so far. But it's weird that I have a picture with the 470m in the G73 and with the 6970m not even the boot screen shows up.

  15. Good info. I usually do a full DOD wipe (Wipedrive) OS reinstall every 6-8 months. When I finally get my M18 I will want to always reinstall everything for that special AW look.

  16. Also, I don't think you can get it from Creative support as it is an OEM product.

  19. if you're on a VPS (Virtual Private Server) then you have access to your apache's config file, depending on the disto it runs on it'll either be in /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf or /etc/apache2/apache2.conf If you're running from a hosted environment, you usually only have access to .htaccess, which can override/add to what's in apache's config. I am on Chrome and so far it hasn't asked me to download anything. It might have something to do with permissions, but i am just shooting in the dark.

  20. I have a question from my read of your problem, in rare instances the sensor that detects free fall's of your computer can cause blue screens on SSD. It may not be the case for you but be aware is all that I know that caused me a BSOD or two... i do realize you said you have the 7.2K 750gb drive but any ideas can help.

  21. Storage drive is the 750GB 7200RPM and yeah there's always activity when it freezes, I'm pretty sure. Anyways, it just tried to do 75 updates, failed, rebooted, showed that it was undoing failed updates or whatever, rebooted, I installed all the updates by running windows update manually, and it's been running great for the first time ever since. I'll keep posted if it starts giving me trouble again....

  22. The said thing is.. he is NEVER going to remove the maid stamp from his license now. Even if he does kindergarten cop 2 or 3 the little kids in the movie are going to be like "hey mister are you the guy that pumped that ugly maid?" Who knows... Maybe she was the nicest person in the house and he just had a bad day with the predator and advisers and weirdos and he was just like "it's time for my schnitzel to get pufunkt"

  23. Haha, I had to get a desktop instead to get my higher 4k reads. While I game a lot, I do game dev even more and the slower 4k's add up to a few hours each week. Trust me, I would love nothing more than an m18x, but I need full HDD speed for the price I would be paying. From what Brian has described, the mod should be similar to the R2. Make sure that the VRM/MOSFET/Chokes/etc dont sit in the way of the heatsink as well. They should not be touching the heatsink at all. If they are, its pushing the heastink away from the core. A solution to this is to take out the heatsink, and mark the areas of where the voltage stuff contacts the heatsink. Then, drill out and clean up these ares so they simply poke through the heatsink - making sure to keep away from any vapour chambers and heat pipes. I did this to my R2, and the temps dropped another 4-5 degrees C over the standard retention mod. -Ash

  24. Dont fucking touch Norman please. If you need to quickly get rid of a virus, please use MSSE or Panda, then uninstall the software afterward. This is part of the particular field I work in, and we have done extensive testing on the performance of antivirii and similar softwares. -Ash

  25. haha fair play, I havent even looked at witcher yet. Can you do me a favour if you get 5 minutes. Can you run a game in AC mode with TB disabled in BIOS and let me know if the fans run at a lower speed? I want to get one, but I need to be able to keep the fans lower for sofa gaming

  28. OK here is some reference images, I have to say i am surprise about the difference in colors, I know that I haven't calibrate the m18x-R1, but I never calibrated the m17x-R1 to begin with. The m17x-R1 is on the left and the m18x-R1 on the right, I decided to do 4 colors. Blue out Blue in Green in Green Out Red in Red out Yellow out I couldn't do Yellow in because I wouldn't Focus correctly. Enjoy

  29. Thanks for those beautiful pics! Please can you make one more comparative of the two displays side by side with the same background/or game pic in them? (and, if it's not too much: a comparative of the resolution of two identical objects in each one of them?) Thanks in advance!!!

  30. Well here is some images, the m18x-R1 Black with the m17x-R1 Red. Can I also buy a vowel? I think Brian is been playing global Agenda to long because he keeps speaking in military jargon what is the ULPS? Not all here speak l33t.

  31. yes, ulps should be disabled first.
