  4. I posted this in NBR but I wanted to share the love here as well. It benefited me a lot since I don't have a need for an optical drive and my SSD is only 80 GB. This is the optical bay I bought... SATA Hard Drive Caddy Bay Macbook PRO 13" Unibody A1278 - eBay (item 260760330830 end time May-28-11 02:09:19 PDT) You do not have to buy the same optical HDD caddy but it does have to be 9.5mm in height. Anything bigger will not fit. Do this at your own risk. I take no responsibility for any mishaps you encounter along the way. Before you do this, install your SSD as you would normally, and install windows from the DVD with the optical disc drive still in the M14x. IF NOT THEN YOUR COMPUTER WILL BOOT FROM THE HARD DRIVE YOU HAVE WINDOWS OS ON REGARDLESS WHICH SATA SLOT IT IS IN. Step 1. Optical Bay I Purchase from eBay Step 2. Opening the bottom panel Step 3. 7. Today while I was browsing the web I came across a real interesting program. For the longest time I been looking for a way to have an animated desktop, and I have to say the task seems a little daunting. From shoddy sites to programs that promise and they don't deliver. Enter DeskScapes, a program made by WinCustomize(StarDock). This program allows you to install an animated desktop in your machine, and even if is not free (19.99) I believe is might worth it's price. I started testing it on my M18x and I have to say I am pretty impressed with the program, from fully animated desktops that you can download to static ones this program has a lot of potential because the program to make this animated desktops is free. Once the animated desktop is created the program is save in a .dream file and then you can use DeskScape to install as your desktop. Here is the link, enjoy. Note: Some of the animated Desktops are free and some other ask for a buy. Dream Gallery - Your home for Animated Wallpaper

  9. Ok first off I am not being lazy asking these questions and second please ignore the typos as a internet tablet isn't easy to type on. Ok going to tell you all a little bout me and then ask stuff. First I know I should get a desktop but it just wont work. I suffer from a kidney issue so a portable power house is what I am looking for. I will be doing some photoshop, bryce renders, converting dvds I get as gifts and of course gaming. I will be getting the largest HDD I can to hold my movies and tv shows for those times I spend in the hospital. My old machine was well bargin crap but I still tweaked it and got it to do most everything including playing americas army for hours at night. Now I want to get the best bang for my $$$. I can see the ram upgrade would be best done by me. So should I get the second or highest cpu? Sorry can't remember numbers Is there much diff in the wifi 1x2 and 2x2? I have build exp. So taking it apart isn't an issue so should I upgrade the thermal paste? I have read the fan is a little noisy at times, anyone thouht about replacing it with a silent mode fan? I found one that might work but costs about $45 just not sure the power connections are the same. After I get my rg I will check unless someone is willing to snap a pick for me. Any other upgrades suggestions? Money really won't be a limiting factor and I am dead set on alienware and this machine since the size is great and offers a little more then the 11 which I had been set on. I have tried to research the cpus and find reviews but like I said before this 7" tablet doesn't lend well to indepth research. Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions and I can't wait to own my first alienware (as soon as the logging company pays up for making our greyhound bus eat the back end of the logs)

Even if he does kindergarten cop 2 or 3 the little kids in the movie are going to be like "hey mister are you the guy that pumped that ugly maid?" Who knows... Maybe she was the nicest person in the house and he just had a bad day with the predator and advisers and weirdos and he was just like "it's time for my schnitzel to get pufunkt"

  16. OK here is some reference images, I have to say i am surprise about the difference in colors, I know that I haven't calibrate the m18x-R1, but I never calibrated the m17x-R1 to begin with. The m17x-R1 is on the left and the m18x-R1 on the right, I decided to do 4 colors. Blue out Blue in Green in Green Out Red in Red out Yellow out I couldn't do Yellow in because I wouldn't Focus correctly. Enjoy

  26. CoD Modern Warfare 3 reveal trailer is here: To be honest I really like MW2, especially the multiplayer... even though a lot of people are bitching about it. It is fast paced, I like the maps... it's (or was) fun to play. I'm curious how good this will be, I don't really like BO, except the zombie mode

  27. I'd go with MX-4 over AS 5. It costs more but there's no burn in time and you see the results right away. I repasted my M18x GPUs and saw 10C drops almost immediately. I use liberal amounts of paste going from one end of the die to the other in a straight thin line of paste. Dot method or credit card method simply doesn't work on these mobile GPUs.

  29. T1TJ: I'd recommend going into the windows sound properties and changing the playback from 16 bit (default) to 24 bit 44.1k, it will substantially increase the quality of sound. Also, try configuring the IDT equalizer, it helps a lot with bass.

  30. My wife and I had a $500 limit on our debit cards I didnt know about until I went to buy a tv with it. $700 tv and 3200 in the bank, I thought wtf. I called the bank and found a teller that said I must of asked for it (my wife??) and she pleasantly removed it. Was embarrassing to be in a line with a big ass tv and card gets declined like 5 times. Stepped out of line and was on the phone for all of 5 minutes and got it fixed. So you may want to check on any purchase amount limits.

  33. AS5 isn't conductive so it's probably not going to matter, but still it's a cleaner job if you don't mess everything else with the paste (+ why risk it). Another note from Arctic Silver website: Arctic Silver Incorporated - Céramique 2 Important Reminder: Due to the unique shape and sizes of the particles in Arctic Silver 5's conductive matrix, it will take a up to 200 hours and several thermal cycles to achieve maximum particle to particle thermal conduction and for the heatsink to CPU interface to reach maximum conductivity. (This period will be longer in a system without a fan on the heatsink or with a low speed fan on the heatsink.) On systems measuring actual internal core temperatures via the CPU's internal diode, the measured temperature will often drop 2C to 5C over this "break-in" period. This break-in will occur during the normal use of the computer as long as the computer is turned off from time to time and the interface is allowed to cool to room temperature. Once the break-in is complete, the computer can be left on if desired. Btw, just noticed if you e-mail/call them you can buy 1kg container of AS5. lol.....

  34. You will need to enable vsync + triple buffering for directx using radeon pro, like brian mentioned. Also, you should run fraps and use its microstutter measure technique to determine just how bad it is. -Ash
    1 point
  35. With large fps fluctuations you're bound to see stutter. Does shogun use high resolution textures? Sometimes the HDD has to load those to memory and if you have a mechanical drive, it'll cause stuttering. Lastly, try downloading Radeon Pro and setting a profile for the game with triple buffering and see if that gets rid of it.
