Y500 mSATA SSD Temperature Issues

Has anyone else had issues with your SSD running a little hot in this notebook?

My Mushkin Atlas Deluxe seems to set off every temperature warning when just sitting idle.

Also, I was wondering if there was anything that could be done to cool this thing off a tad.

no problems with my msata. what kind of surface is your laptop sitting on?

It just sits on flat table. Original 2.5" HDD have 32°C.

which program you use to check temperatures ?

I'm using CrystalDiskInfo, but i think it reads S.M.A.R.T data

My Y500: Kingston 120GB mSATA have 49°C.

I just plug it in, not even use it and it is like 50°C ?

Intel 525 120gb drive when in use gets to 52 degrees C, however i don't think it's all from the drive. It's sitting in a small enclosure with other parts that generate heat after all. Temperature monitor used is HWmonitor.

so basic we need to cool down CPU & GPU ?

since they are the main reasons why a laptop is hot.

Yes that's right, and a notebook cooler will help. However unless your temps are extreme, i'd say 70s, you're gonna be fine. I only use notebook cooler when i game on this laptop, for regular use no.

just re-pasted cpu & gpu. KINGSTON SMS200S3120G doesn't go above 60'c now.

Cooler will help mainly from outside of the notebook inside temperature will go down about 5 degrees, but it can be difference between performance degradation and not.

Best way is to take it apart and do it with compressed air.

I didn't experienced high temperature on SSD, the GPU is bigger problem.
