  1. did you remember to run prr.exe? I forgot on my first run through and got the same error. double check your instructions.
  2. I can confirm that using the update link from 2.00 to 2.02 works, then flash with the modded bios. I am currently running on 5.0Ghz Wi-Fi and loving it. svl7 - beer money coming your way!
  3. svl7- quick question. I have actually installed some new hardware to my machine and a different OS as well - mSATA Crucial SSD running as my boot drive, WD Scorpio black storage HDD, and win 8 pro (clean install). is this going to impact the bios flash any (I am using 2.02)? I am only really interested in being able to upgrade my Wi-Fi card. on a side note, does anyone else have any flex in their lower laptop body? right above the keyboard, when I press down there it squeaks/snaps as if the internals are not 100% flushly connected. I suppose your mileage may vary since mine has been opened.
  4. I am running a Lenovo Y400 with a Crucial 256gb mSata SSD and have had no heat issues yet. what program are you using to monitor temps?
  5. new to this forum, interested in finding the best ways possible to maximize my lenovo y400, particularly with a dual band wi-fi card which is why I need a bios hack. thanks for all the good suggestions and help.
  6. don't overlook the new Lenovo Y series Ideapads. They are more than enough to play those games and have better keyboards (for typing at least) than a lot of the Asus and Alienware stuff out there
  7. Asus RT-N56U or RT-N66U are both pretty bulletproof. I test wireless devices for a living, and these are as good if not better than the usual recommendations from Cisco, D-Link, or Netgear
  8. if you prefer USB connection, I would go Logitech G930 (wireless) or G35 (wired) but if you are going audio jacks, I would go with a Sennheiser PC350 or PC360
