pijeon1978
Hi there, I usually post on notebookreview , but found this site yesterday via there My name is Paul, 34 from Scotland UK Just wanted to share my experience with upgrading my P150Hm from a 6990m to a 7970m.: via PC Specialist. Any Hm users reading this , should really take the plunge ! For £312 , Uk money, you get the card, pre flashed with the Vbios to make it work on HM machines, a 2 min install (You use your pre existing Heat sink etc) , and then windows 7 fired up, installed the card automatically - and that was it! Performance has almost doubled on some games and apps - from 3300 to nearly 6000 marks on 3d mark11 . Because it does not have the switching abilitiy of the EM series, there is no problem with Enduro either- games run the way they should. The card came flashed with quite a low Voltage - 0.975, compared to the usual 1.1 (i think ) in Dells and EM, but with a new flash , that should be easy to change if you are in to overclocking Over all - really pleased with the upgrade - Here is the site for any one interested PCSPECIALIST - Custom PCs, Custom Computers, Custom PC, Desktop PC, Custom Built Computers, Gaming PC As far as i know, they are the only Uk provider of this service at the moment Pj
svl7
Do you mind sending me your vbios / posting it here? I just want to take a look at it, seems as if someone messed with it.By the way, HM users don't really need to get a pre-flashed card, you can also just buy any 7970m, install it and the blind flash the card with the proper vbios. pijeon1978
Course i can svl7 - i think its there own flash - problem is i cant overclock it much as its such a low voltage Some one on NBR recommened you actually for a better flash - for a 7970m in a HM at a slightly higher voltage - I found the link you made, but unfortunately cant download it yet , until 5 decent posts have been approved. I don't spose you have a direct link to it , being the impatient overclocker i am ? Can i email you the .ROM direct, if you PM me your email address, that way i can add as an attachment for quickness PJ

svl7
The vbios is stock, you should have a higher voltage... what tool did you use to monitor your values?
pijeon1978
Hi - The only one i can get any information from is Kombustor - in the corner it says VDDC -0 .975 c . Gpu-z doesnt show it , and i cant seem to unlock it in msi afterburner either, even thought i have altered the cfg file . Any ideas ?
svl7
HWiNFO64 should report it properly if I remember correctly. Kombustor... it might just throttle there, so that's not necessarily the proper 3d voltage reported there.
pijeon1978
Just downloaded it - and it shows every thing , but cant find the Voltage anywhere! Bizarre
pijeon1978
Just checked the voltage - and despite flashing the v bios with your latest release svl7 - it still refuses to go higher than 0.975 -i wonder if its something to do with msi afterburner - going to try an older release
moral hazard
That's interesting, I have the same system and I use the latest version of MSI after burner with the latest drivers for the 7970m.I had "UnofficialOverclockingMode = 2" set in the cfg file for MSI after burner, to disable powerplay. mw86
SvL7 is i believe is serving a fee weeks in the service and he will be back after that and should be able to continue this conversation with you guys. Please excuse his absence till then. Most of us know if the volts are raised or lowered by benching at stock then benching overclocked. Then add volts in a flash retest the overclock and see if it starts to allow higher clocks . Stock is 1.05v 1.075 good for 900-1000 core. 1.1v for 950-1050 core. Any higher shows no gains just added heat. Some with added volt wont even do 900 so its luckof the draw. Most of the monitor tools read a value that is not accurate to the current volts. ajbutch123
Does the HDMI work now? A month or so back a friend of mine was wanting to upgrade to the 7970m, but found out that the HDMI port would no longer work after the upgrade, so decided not to. OrigamiZor
i don't think so... with 680M if you flash the dell bios on the clevo (or the other way around) it can or will damage the card. So stay with clevo bios only

Aweb
Hello! I have this graphics card installed in my P150EM but it has a tendency to overheat a lot, so if you plan to install it in yours, don't forget to put thermal paste and check if it's cool enough. Don't trust your integrator without checking like I did
