Hello to all big format laptop users! I`ll try to make it as short as possible. I have the Alienware M18X R1 for about 7years, i think. It was a problematic machine all the time. But during warranty period local support fixed everything super fast and free of charge :). I even upgraded from gtx 580m sli to gtc 780m sli. And made primary hdd samsung evo ssd. Unlocked Bios. Power brick i changed 3 times by now. Battery once. And 6moths ago one of the long time ago installed 780m died ( started with artifacts on screen then refused to boot windows). Replaced that and was as happy as ever. The machine kept working stable and i pushed all i could get from it in reasonably modern titles. Even tried RDR2 on default settings, gave me 17fps :). Not sure if SLI is supported for that game. The point is it was running fine for last 6 months. What happened: Gaming as usual, room temp 23C. After around 2hr suddenly black screen. The laptop switched off by itself. What i check: First checked power brick. Green light off. Unplug from wall and laptop. After plugging in wall green light back on. Connect laptop light off. Next: Tried take out battery, unplug. And hold the PWR button for 1 min. Try to start on battery - nothing. Plug in - green light off again. Later: after some googling found that need to try to remove video cards. Done that. OK Nice! Plug in power and it starts as nothing happened on the integrated intel video. Found out that i one of the video cards is plugged in that triggers the power brick to trip. (the original upgrade 780m from years ago). Start with GPU: Insert the other one in its slot. Systems start. But immediately i notice there`s no video drivers. OK i think reinstalling and job done. Drivers reinstalled, asked for restart. After restart nothing. Still no driver. Windows device manager: This is bogging me. it shows that i have 670M instead of 780m. Windows gives Code 43 Error. BIOS: I go into bios just to find that that it has reverted back to A05 (hows that possible?). And its so limited that i cant even choose witch video card to use. But it detects nVidia GFX. How to get at least my single 780M to be working?! Update bios again to unlocked? Did this event fry Vbios on my other card maybe? System: m18x R1 SLI gtx 780m Unlocked bios (before event) nvidia driver 443.x(or there about) Win: 7, 64bit

Hi, I got a Sager NP8278 (Clevo P170SM) with a gtx970m 6GB. is there a way to have SLI or what are my upgrade options for the video card?

This is a useful guide for all the Clevo X7200 owners (and also for anyone who wants to use SLI on an unsupported hardware) Credits for Different SLI goes to Ember of techpowerup ( https://github.com/EmberVulpix/DifferentSLIAuto ) and @anatolymik (https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/sli-with-different-cards.158907/) . Thank you guys. First step is a clean starting point; if you messed up with other driver or other version of different SLI or to unistall it, you have to: #1 use DDU to remove all traces of previous installations of driver #2 open certmgr.msc and delete all DifferentSLI certificates from the DifferentSLI and Trusted Root Certification Authorities (see attached image) #3 open regedit and remove the follow registry keys (you can find them with control+F and digit Different SLI ) HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\DifferentSLIAuto HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\DifferentSLIAuto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\EnterpriseCertificates\DifferentSLIAuto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\DifferentSLIAuto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\DifferentSLIAuto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\EnterpriseCertificates\DifferentSLIAuto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\DifferentSLIAuto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Policies\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\DifferentSLIAuto Now you're ready for install. #1 Enable Test Mode (windows 10 users), open command promt (cmd) and run "cmd" as Administrator, type: bcdedit -set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS and hit Enter bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING ON and hit Enter Restart your PC, you will see the watermark in the right-lower corner on the desktop. #2 Update your displaydriver to the latest Version. #3 Use the lastest DifferentSLI (now V1.6), unpack it; Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers and copy the File nvlddmkm.sys into the DifferentSLi folder. Run DifferentSLIAuto.exe and pacht it. Run Install.cmd as admin. (it signed it, but fails to copy the file back to the drivers folder. however, we do it manually in the next step). Now your file is patched and signed. copy the patched nvlddmkm.sys back to C:\Windows\System32\drivers and replace it with the orig. (make backup first) Reboot and you should be able to activate SLi in the nvidia control panel. Thank you @Doki @sirana for helping me. DifferentSLIAuto1.6.rar

Oculus Rift runnig with GTX 980M SLI
Hornjack posted a question in What Notebook Best Fits My Needs?
Hi everyone, today I had my first Oculus Rift experience and it was great, I´m using an Alienware M18x R2 with two GTX980M in SLI / i7-3940XM CPU and would like to know if someone is using VR with a similar configuration like mine. I know there´s a possibility to test it on Steam and I´m nearly on the green area there, so I think I´m ready but if someone is having real experiences and would like to share them I would be greatful. best regards and thank you : )-

Hello guys , After modding my bios with svl7's mod to my y510p with gt755m, everything went fine except one thing. My default gpu's core clock shows 1098 and the ultrabay gpu's core clock shows 980.Also range of overcloking is wider on the default gpu than its on the ultrabayed one.I have done that nvflash thing on the second post either.I hope you can make me understand the reason behind this and help me solve the problem.

Hey guys! Earlier this week I upgrade my laptop with a new network card. I bought a Intel WiFi AC 7260 for my Lenovo Y510p. So most of you probably know, Lenovo's BIOS has a whitelist. So I flashed the BIOS so that I could use the new network card. This happened without any problems, I installed the network card and booted my laptop. Drivers worked the moment I logged in and connecting to a network was easy and fast. Checked speedtest.net for the up and down speeds, perfect! There is a problem I encounterd though, it has nothing to do with my BIOS (I think) or my new network card. It has something to do with my GPU's. I run an SLI configuration of 2 x Nvidia GeForce GT755m. (one main, one ultrabay) I was following a guide made by @svl7 about flashing the BIOS. After the part of flashing the BIOS there was something about flashing the vBIOS too, because if you are running 2 GPU's it was not going to work properly. When flashing the vBIOS I encountered the problem. As explained by the guide, I used NVflash to flash vBIOS, when using the command "nvflash -a" to view adapters and their "index" they were on "0" and "1". I tried to flash both of them, "1" flashed easily without any problems, "0" did not flash at all. Now the error displayed was: "ERROR: GPU NOT DETECTED." Has anyone got an idea of how to fix this? I'm not able to flash one of the GPU's. If I play a videogame on my laptop, every now and then (intervals of 1-5 minutes) my screen goes black, audio stutters and comes back to normal after a few seconds. Hope you guys can help me out! If there's any info you need let me know and I'll edit the post!

Hi guys, I've been following your threads for a little while now, and to this dat I've almost always found what I was looking for, or close enough. Unfortunately, I've now encountered an issue that seems pretty damn unsolvable, and most frustrating I can't even get where I could have screwed up. Here is the story, I got few months ago the Aorus x7 v2, with a 860m SLI as GPUs. It is quite a decent laptop, but lately I started to look into a possible flash of the vbios, in order to override the +135mHz limitation. That's something I've already done before without particular issue, so I wasn't overly worried about it, besides the fact that this time I had to deal with a SLI. So got the appropriate vbios there https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/forums/topic/1425-nvidia-kepler-vbios-mods-overclocking-editions-modified-clocks-voltage-tweaks/ and followed once again the tutorial over here https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/forums/topic/1687-guide-nvidia-vbios-flashing/ . The thing is that, as a matter of fact, everything went fine, for both GPUs the update was successful and then I restarted my computer... Unfortunately that is where everything went wrong : my screen doesn't light up anymore, and I can't do anything to set things right. If any of you have ever been in a similar case before, or have an idea to solve this, just let me know. Cheers, Karajan EDIT : So I managed to get something by using an external screen. The flashing actually worked, since I can now go beyond the 135mHz limit, but one of my cards is not detected anymore, an neither is my original screen.

I have a Lenovo y510p laptop (750m sli) with windows 8.1 operation system and 8gb ram. (vbios updated). Maybe a year ago -when I had windows 7- it started to freeze (black screen) when I play games with SLI and I had to manual restart the computer. Now I have windows 8.1 operation system but the problem is the same, only the game stops with error message and the realtek driver says that "A jack has been plugged in" (??). I also have a problem with the sound system. Sometimes the left speaker is quieter then the right one and if I increase the volume to maximum then back, it works well again. (windows 7, 8, ubuntu) I have 170W adapter so it can't cause the problem. Yesterday I update the system bios from 3.05 to 3.08 and the the sli problem is nearly gone. The game sometimes start fps drop (and I hear the gpu fan go down) but it isn't crash or freeze. The sound problem has not appeard since. I wanted to bring back it to the lenovo service but I don't know what to do now. Does anybody have a changelog for the system bios update since 3.05?

I have been trying to find a solution to this problem everywhere.. I have a Lenovo Y510p, with the 750m and i bought seperately a GT750m5 for the ultrabay in around November of 2013. I thought it would be nice and easy to get both of the cards to function as SLI. If I go into device manager it shows 1 integrated, 1 750m, and nothing else under display drivers. I tried a bunch of random shit to get the 750m5 to work including upgrading my bios to 3.05..... Now when I put the gt750m5 and power on the computer it tells me an unauthorized product is in, to remove it and restart. I would like to either have an older version of the bios (please god someone have it) or find a fix to allow the gt750m5 to be installed, and to WORK as SLI like intended with the ultrabay. I am praying to the computer gods on this one. I broke down and called Lenovo support yesterday and since my computer ran out of warranty while i was deployed to kuwait they might make me pay for a fix. I did wait quite a long time to call them because I am a COMM guy and it hurts my pride to admit i need help. They assigned me a case number and said i would receive a call within the next 72 hours with a decision on if they will pay to fix my computer for me. I explained that it has NEVER worked as advertised and it is a known issue in the Lenovo world that the machines that werent SLI complete when they were sold dont ever work the right way. She said she didnt think it was and i assured her it is, at which point i was placed on an extensive hold and she came back with the case #. Has anybody else had any experience dealing with this and if so have you been able to get it working? Thank you all for your time.

So I just made the transition from red to green with my R1 and had a slight issue with the new SLI cable. In order to make it work it had to be routed over both GPU heatsinks, whereas the old crossfire cable was designed to fit over the palm rest, making right angles around the heatsinks. I placed some camera lens cleaning cloths between the cable and the heatsinks to provide some separation and just sticky taped them in place. I'm hoping this setup will work. Has anybody else experienced a situation like this? Do you recommend me keeping it this way or should I search for a SLI cable that has the right angles in it to go around the heatsinks? Cheers,

Hello everyone I bought my y510p a year ago and finally decided to replace the DVD drive with a second GT750M. The first thing I did once I got the laptop was installing windows 7 as I just can't stand 8. Now that I got the second GPU I looked for drivers and only found this NVIDIA GeForce GT750M Second VGA BIOS Update for Windows 8.1 (64-bit) - IdeaPad Y410p, Y510p - Lenovo Support (US) So I suck it up and install windows 8.1. After following the installing instructions I keep getting the "no nvidia display adapters found" error message. Meanwhile Windows 8.1 just doesnt click with me so I go back to windows 7 and square one... Is there a way to manually flash the BIOS into recognizing my second GT750M? Forgive my lack of technical terms as I am quite the layman. Thank you in advance, have a nice day

Hello, I have an Alienware 18 (2013 model, A09 Bios), with two GTX 780m SLI (modded bios), Core i7 4930MX (Stock - Overclock enabled on the Bios Settings but in Default values), 32Gb Ram 1600mhz. My friend has an very identical hardware, but his Alienware is a previous model, with a 3940MX Extreme Processor. The GPUs are identical, with modded bios too. Both systems with a 330W PSU. Running 3dkmark, we realized that GPU scores has a significative difference. After disabling Overclock option on the Bios, my scores grew a little more, but the difference between the systems continues. Results: Result Guys, do you think that can be my processor getting the power from the GPU's? If no, what could be? Thank you.

HI, i have a problem with my lenovo y510p gt755m sli. On win 8.1 some of the windows are blurry, but there's no such problem when i installed windows 7. Does any one else have such a problem and has a solution for it?

I have a Y400, a 3D printer and a plan. I want to get a desktop GPU roughly compatible with the 650m -- GTX 650? -- and wire it up to my GPU-less Ultrabay. Having looked at the teardown pictures, it looks like something sort of kinda similar to a normal PCI port. Is this at all possible?

I am the guy on the lenovo forums that started the long threat about the ultrabay 750m5 cards not working on Y510p laptops (when bought separately). The problem is that if you bought non-sli version of the y510p 750m and then bought the ultrabay 750m5 card it is not being detected by the laptop. The problem has been figured out and basically Lenovo neutered the non-sli versions so they can't provided enough power to the ultrabay to support the second card so you are out of luck. You might be able to return the card or send back the entire laptop for a motherboard change. I did the later and they put the same motherboard back in so it didn't work for me. Eventually I returned the entire laptop for a new one directly from Lenovo with the SLI from factory and it works now.

I noticed that the 750 SLI y510p laptop on Lenovo now includes 16GB of RAM. The model I purchased off of the outlet only included 8GB of RAM. So, the age old question; Will I benefit graphics wise by going to 16GB from 8GB? I have read that increasing the RAM will allow a video card to use more system memory, capping at 4GB. My impression is that a single card would not benefit from the increase. But what about the SLI configuration? Thank you!

Hi, recently I bought a Y510p 59400120 with two 755m in it. When I use chrome and browse to model-kartei.de the bottom grey is flickering like hell. It doesn't happen in firefox though. If I remove one graphics card the problem is gone. Do you guys have the same problem and even a fix for that? Thanks shyd
