    @J95 Hi mate,

I'm finally ready to try the latest driver with my 980M in my Dell Precision M6800. All my games are crapping out on me due to my old drivers. I will update the folks in NBR once I get mine up and running.

I have been reading your other thread "[Alienware & Clevo] Aftermarket Upgrades Driver Support - Modded INF", do I have to flash the Prema V2 vBIOS to use the drivers?

Which line in nv_dispi.inf should I mod? Or should I be modding the nvdmi.inf instead?

Anyway here are my Hardware IDs.

    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D7&SUBSYS_15CD1028&REV_A1
    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D7&SUBSYS_15CD1028
    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D7&CC_030000
    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D7&CC_0300

Please follow the instructions HERE, then report back.

nv_dispi.inf PEG/Dedicated for Alienware laptops. If you haven't flashed Prema's vBIOS before then just skip that part for time being.

    Anyone?

I had enough of alienware and DELL complicating things and limiting system modifications. I changed GFX from 460M to 680M 3-4 years ago and everything now on requires modding, hacking etc etc to get the drivers to work and I still cant get sound out of my HDMI to work since Win 10 (I think).
If no one can help in this matter then I better start saving for a non-complicated laptop such as ASUS, should I not?

Did you change BIOS sound card settings? those are required for the 780M only, not 680M.

You will need to install IDT drivers.

@Mr. Fox & @J95 I had a werid problem just today , I had a BSOD   "IRQL_GT_ZERO_AT_SYSTEM_SERVICE"    the problem happened after , as soons as I restarted the laptop BIOS autamticly switched to RAID ( I wasn't on raid and seems like the BIOS resetting it self but not totally since the clock was correct ) and could not boot ( obviously ) so I switched back to AHCI .

But now the BIOS doesn't see any drive AT all UNLESS I switch to RAID ( and only raid ) I was able to boot back to windows with Legacy Boot is on , if I turn Legecy boot off the BIOS will not see any drive .

I tried to load default settings but didn't work
I tried to remove my 3 HDD ( except SSD ) still didn't work
ePGA did the see the drive with AHCI on

I think my only solution is a BIOS reset with removing the CMOS Battery ( I cant at the moment )

What do you think anybody had this before

    TL DR
Laptop hade BSOD the bios messed up the settings by it self and now cant see any drive if I have UEFI and AHCI on :(

    Please help

@HaloTechnology  Run Memtest then try clearing CMOS,

This was after upgrading to RS1? if so try a clean install and use Win10 native AHCI drivers.

You need to download and install this driver from dell website(its the correct drivers + software which you need for the audio jacks to work properly):

    http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=G340X

And also as @J95 mentioned previously make sure DSE is disabled before AND after installation, otherwise the software will disappear again once you update!

@haXBOXpro, @Shiroe you need to clean install modded Creative drivers from HERE (latest full package), otherwise Recon3Di control panel won't work. Just disable DSE (F8) before and after installing drivers.

Indeed. There are massive differences between them. It's a shame the stupid dorks at MSI only offer garbage BGA CPUs in their laptops.

Yeah, I want the card not the laptop. Although MSI understood pretty quick the importance of GPU Upgradability, they're still lousy in the CPU department, incl their ultra-restrictive warranty policy.

    Greedy bastards, done with laptops.

@Christian Ademius M17xR3/680M doesn't support Optimus, you need to set the BIOS to PEG (Display), use nv-dsipi.inf v368.81 instead (command prompt in Administrator mode).

my inspector "est. max" stays greyed out with newer drivers...im not sure why but they also do not work without throttling out of the box, unlike 353.00 which works without any additional throttling fixes

That's an Inspector issue or P-States matching behavior, nothing to worry about. Flash Swick's mod (M18xR2) and follow the instructions above.

@J95 thanks a bunch for pointing me to  Swick1981's unlocked bios and throttling workaround!:frantics:

Just worth mentioning for whoever is reading this thread and having throttle issues on M18xR2, the "GFX switching" (using unlocked bios) on cold boot ACTUALLY works wonders!

Things haven't ran this smooth since the day I bought my machine

Not to mention all the priceless tweaks unlocked :D

The beast is back :super: (M18xR2)

    thanks again to @Swick1981 , @Prema & @J95

anyone throttling on these? i don't mind trying but i throttle on everything above 353.00 so im not exactly optimistic

also ive asked this before but does anyone have inspector issue after a crash where the "est. max" field is greyed out? drives me insane because the gpu won't work right when that happens, only happens with certain games like fallout4 and witcher3

@J95 Man you are awesome , It worked perfectly no problem and I didnt even use DDU for install I simply upgraded :frantics::frantics:

I should really do some benchmarks :logik:

    Did some benchmarks I got 12306  in firestrike v1.1 720p <<<<<<<is that good ?

    I got 7100 in 1080P

PS: something interesting I noticed that TDP usually before was around 35% but now it's only around 25% ( maybe the new vBIOS ?) ? although the Clock speed is full I dont think there is throttling ? what is a way to know if my card is throttling ?

NV reduced power draw w/ latest drivers, check clocks & TDP using GPU-Z.
