  1. Consider yourself lucky, my 2920XM doesn't work in my P370. If the BIOS settings have an effect, I can't see why it would be a problem. Most people I know prefer overclocking from the BIOS.
  2. If I was buying now I'd definitely give it a look, but it would be going from 16:10 to 16:9, pretty sure I don't want to do that.
  3. The panel looks amazing Brian, nice grab. Personally though, 1080p is way too low for a 27" monitor, after living with 2560x1600 for almost two years I'll never be able to go back down in res. I'm in the camp that's waiting for ~30" 4k monitors to drop below $1500. EDIT: In your video you say 2560x1440 (which makes way more sense) but the first post has a whole thing about 1080p AND a bit about 1440! IS SO CONFUSING!
  4. Your GPU paste job is almost perfect, that definitely isn't your problem. Idling at 51-56C is not normal in my experience, how high are your ambient temps? To make sure it isn't a power draw problem, start a CPU loading program such as P95 or linpack, then run kombustor. You should get a pretty fast shutoff if that is your issue. *BTW, in your spec list it says 6gb RAM, How are the modules organised? 4+2/2+2+2? If it's got three sticks in there it's generally considered to be bad, as it forces the system to run in single channel mode.
  5. Someone should add a few of these to custom stand. 1ST PC CORP. PFB1212UHE-F00 Case Fan - Newegg.com Levitating M18X anyone?
  6. 400mhz is nothing to sneeze at, that's well over 10% faster.
  7. Mr Fox, yours is by far the coolest M18X that I could NEVER have imagined, your parts are droolworthy but more to the point - that paintjob is just inspired. I bet you get quite some looks if you use it in public areas, I know I'd come over and fawn over it.
  8. For me it enabled 100% fan speed with a button combo, got me the latest IME drivers (or whatever they're called, I forget lol) and I'm trying to find a suitably inappropriate picture that Prema might be kind enough to mod in as my boot screen.
  9. Indeed there is, check over here. http://forum.techinferno.com/clevo-sager/3119-premas-bios-mods.html
  10. I know a guy with tri-680s that are j-u-s-t ahead of the benches posted so far. So good luck with one less.
  11. Now to get them under water and see how well they'll clock when the temps are held right down.
  12. Such has always been the nature of PC hardware, the 8800 ultra (IIRC) was $1000 back in the day. If you want the latest and greatest, it's never the most sensibly priced.
  13. It's not worth the level of investment that would be needed, unless you're just doing it for fun. I mean, it might allow enough OC to add 5-10% to bench scores if you could pull it off perfectly, but it'll be expensive, awkward, ugly, etc. The money would be better put toward a GPU upgrade or stuffed in the piggybank for the next laptop purchase. Just my 2c as an experienced desktop watercooler.
  14. That was with a single GPU, with SLI enabled it's almost 13K... If you expect "Much higher" than that, you're expecting too much.
  15. Yes pls, most I can wring out of it at the moment is +335/670 with 1025/1050v, same result with both vBios... Anything you can do to help will be tested "To the fullest extent". :D
  16. Here's my P370EM with SLI "broken".... The 680M is a substantially more powerful card... - http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/6198299
  17. @savvas I believe you can add 400mhz to the top end of turbo boost using XTU.
  18. @nerdstaz No problem mate, 1050 is probably more than you need if you don't want to really push the overclock. Because it's a synthetic bench, Heaven pushes the cards at close to 100% relentlessly, most games don't come anywhere near that. If you're worried just leave a temp monitor open in the background while gaming. I use all kinds of temp monitoring software, two personal faves are HWinfo (Because it watches everything) and OCCT (because it incorporates stress tests such as linpack). I don't game at any overclock unless the game needs it - similar reasons to you, I can't be bothered switching it all the time and SLI 680M isn't exactly slow while stock. If in time the 680Ms can't run everything like butter at stock clocks, then I'll consider running a daily overclock. I can't really tell you what's stable on your system, from what I've seen +200 core and +400 memory is very easy for me, but your cards may vary. For that matter, how you use them may vary. Afterburner has an option for "Apply clocks at system start" if that's what you're trying it shouldn't be too hard to drop down again. I've never flashed a card with an OC, so can't help you if that's what you're thinking. I've never liked coolers (since I actually carry my system, and use the desktop when at home), but you can get most of the benefit by finding a way to lift the back of the system slightly without obscuring the air vents. Brian did a small review on "Laptop lifts" (IIRC) which are essentially small stick on rubber buffers that achieve this in a less ghetto way than books or a coke lid (what I generally use). I'll be looking into physical mods for cooling, but they're likely to be somewhat extreme by normal standards. Don't attempt anything that will void your warranty unless you're absolutely sure. Don't worry about asking "too many" questions, I understand the feeling and will do my best to answer anything you ask. Doesn't mean I'll always be correct though.
  19. Hi @nerdstaz, welcome to T|I. I have the same system as you, I'll do my best to help. First thing that's worth checking is pressing Fn+1 (1, not F1) when in windows, some P370/9370 systems will reportedly spin the fans up to 100% without modding the BIOS. If that doesn't work you will need to flash a custom BIOS from @Prema, which I have done successfully and reduced the temps on my second card from 94c to 75c (at over 1ghz core speed). EDIT: New thread just posted, give this a try. http://forum.techinferno.com/clevo-sager/3119-premas-bios-mods.html#post43230 As for your temps being higher, I believe that's because nvidia throttle the cards on the stock VBIOS, which keeps them cooler but compromises performance. I may not be 100% correct though, as I just read throttling and stopped there (It's the devils work ). Personally I've flashed two different Vbios files for testing, both found in the second post at positions #2 and #3. "clevo 680m 80.04.33.00.10 ocedition revised 01 ov 1050v" and the 1025v version. Both have provided me with major boosts to overclocking. MSI afterburner is what I generally use for GPU overclocking, it's a great utility. If you look at my post directly before yours, you'll see the potential this system has once you push the GPUs a little. Again, welcome to the forums and I hope to see you around more. Our P370/9370s take a little work, but they're total beasts.
  20. Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm now getting insane clocks on my 680Ms, this is what I've managed so far. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3630QM Processor,CLEVO P370EM score: P12921 3DMarks Sent some beer money to svl7, given that none of us would be overclocking these cards if it weren't for his tireless help and support it, was the least I could do. Thanks so much mate, your work makes a big difference to so many people. Also big thanks to johnksss for giving general support and help with flashing the cards when Clevo decide to make it difficult. Prema for enabling the 100% fan option and giving me access to the latest intel RAID, more details in my review topic. This whole forum is just so willing to help, and highly knowledgeable to boot. We're still headed for the stratosphere people. :D Will report back if/when I get an XM CPU.
  21. To do list: 1. Keep looking at picture of stacked titans. 2. Summon hatred. 3. Nurture burning coal of jealousy. 4. Fan the flames of revolution. 5. Lead horde to Switzerland. 6. Claim Titans in bloody coup. 7. Now THAT is a desktop. Can't wait to see more benches, builds and ideas, hope they treat you well.
  22. Wow, I'm amazed they're allowed to call it a G9 when it's clearly a competing product. Oh well. G9X for me, my G9 finally died after years of ham fisted abuse and I love the shape for my retarded grip. Thinking of picking up a mionix naos to try, heard good things. My DPI settings are all over the place with the adjustments from 800 through to 5700, I most commonly use 4000 DPI.
  23. @Prema Sorry mate, not yet. Probably this week sometime.
  24. That was a common problem back "in the day" when my M18X with 6990M CF-X was cutting edge. Driver updates often seemed to "break" the screen brightness setting. Not having any such trouble on my P370EM with dual 680Ms.
  25. Samsung 840 pro is the drive I'm suggesting at the moment, not that I'm aware of anything inherently wrong with the Corsair. It's hard to be more specific without knowing what the store you're shopping at charges for each drive.
