  1. I have a two thousand dollar US budget. I am looking at the AW 17 or the Sager NP8275-S with 17" display i7-4700mq or i7-4800mq 780m 16GB ram 750GB 7200 rpm drive blu-ray or dvd drive Some have told me I might be able to get a AW 17 for about two grand, which I know I can get the NP8275 for. Not sure if that is true. Any feedback on differences between these two? How is the noise level with the vBios so they both run at say 85C on the gpu? I saw one thread on the AW 17 overheating the cpu, is this a concern? I think noise, price, and possible issues are my biggest concerns. Thanks for your help.
  2. This was the last post from the op in May of this year. I think the thread has served its purpose.
  3. Did you do Fn+1 or Fn+9 twice, i.e. do full fan speed twice, then wait a bit?
  4. Good news! I was worried there was a road block.
  5. I get the feeling Clevo/Sager routes through the Intel chip. Nothing solid, just a user that couldn't get it working, and the comments made.
  6. What is the status on the PxxxSM models, the Haswell models, for BIOS and EC?
  7. Even so, I hope every one with the issue complains to Sager/Clevo. They certainly won't fix it if they think it was just one user. They will assume it was just one or two individual hardware problems.
  8. So you got it working? Does any one know if the external display ports on the Sagers are routed through the Intel gpu? Thus 3D would not work?
  9. Seems the g930 & g35 are recomended a lot.
  10. This thread is pretty old now. I wish we could change it to, what is the best gaming mouse? Any one try the G602 and have a real world review? I have the g9x, which is fine, but I need more buttons and a slightly bigger mouse. The g602 & g700 both look good.
  11. Since this is a old thread, and this is related. Do any of the 5.1/7.1 headphones, sound just like listening to a true 5.1/7.1 discreet speaker system? I mean when playing games can you really tell where each sound comes from? And are they good for movies? And do they come with a microphone that works with the built in laptop sound system, or is usb better? And good review sites? I have only gamed with regular stereo headphones, Grado SR60s. So just wondering if surround headphones would be worth it.
  12. I agree, he seems to be over reacting, blaming others because he didn't do proper research, and a little crazy. On page seven of his story he says that the store keeps a picture database of customers and uses facial recognition software. Wow. I also like how he contradicts himself, he starts by saying how bad Sony has become then later says he wishes MSI was perfect like Sony. Or how he complains that it doesn't come with MSI system management software, but then say he doesn't want extra software on it. And how is small text on websites MSIs fault? I find the site kind of funny, but sad that people take it serrious. Based on his computer knowledge, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't cause his own problems, or make them worse. I don't work for MSI, nor have I ever bought a MSI computer. But after reading this, I would have no problem buying one. The website makes me feel sorry for MSI.
  13. Thanks danialzaidi and Tech Inferno Fan. Thanks for the link, I will read it through. So for Haswell, mPCIe, then Thunderbolt, then Expresscard. Got it. That helps a lot.
  14. Question, If I buy a laptop today, what ports or connections would support a eGPU in the future, and which port/connector is the best or easiest to do an eGPU? I.e. what should I look for in a new laptop so I can later add a eGPU? Thanks.
  15. I like linear games. If done well, they can control the pacing to control emotions and control the action and excitement. Just like good movies do. Does it start dragging about half way through?
  16. Great work, very impressive, and very interesting.
  17. I would rather have a constant fan noise/speed, than have it alternate between low and medium speeds, or off and low. I find the changes to be distracting. But I guess it depends on how often it shifts between the levels.
  18. Glad it mostly worked out. So, you didn't like 3D games? Did you try one of the Batman games in 3D? I am tempted by this system, partially because of the 3D. The other parts are 120hz display, and the posibility of going SLI later. I also like the NP8255-S, which offers longer battery life and lower power using the Intel gpu, i.e. optimus.
  19. Which site? What is the link? And where did you find it?
  20. This is impressive and I am surprised it works with the internal display.
  21. Oh, so this is just a problem with his system. So, nothing he can do, or if he got a hold of a good chip and a eprom programmer he could do it? Or maybe cut the pin that does writes, i.e. holds voltage high for writes to happen. (Just wild guesses)
  22. This is as much as I know on the bios:
  23. Didn't Sager just release Windows 8.1 bios for these new models? Does that help?
  24. After closing the regustry, setting everything to black, then the values are still 1? Or did you miss that step?
  25. To the OP, doing a custom build is not hard at all. If you have some time and can build Ikea furniture, then you should do it. There are several guides on the internet, with pictures. As everyone has said, you get exactly what you want. Plus it costs less to get the same thing. It is easier to upgrade later. It something fails, it is easier to fix. Pay for features you want, not ones you don't want. I like to build desktops that are slient unless you put your head right next to them. That is hard to do with prebuilt, and you have limited choices. With custom, I just buy the right coolers and the right fans and case. A vacuum cleaner sound turns into a barely heard whisper.
