svl7
WOW, impressive 3dM11 scores!! Congrats!Did you already get to the limits of the system? Do you have a vantage run?
mw86
Yes nice 3dmark 11 score DaneGRClose! What kind of bsclk, gpu clocks did you use?
DaneGRClose
Thanks guys, my BCLK was at 105.9 with GPU at 845/1200 for the 3Dmark11 run. On 3dmark06 I was at 106.2 bclk and 830/1200 gpu. I'm still trying to get everything dialed in and waiting on my hyperx as I think my ram is holding me back on my bclk.
Jimbo
waiting on my hyperx as I think my ram is holding me back on my bclk.I think it's more likely the integrated gpu. Hope it goes well for you.
mw86
Can we completely turn off the on die gpu? Or force it into a low powerstate?
Jimbo
Don't think so, just have a look at hwbot, the 2600k boys are all stuck at around 102-107 (x57 for 5.8-6ghz). If there was any way to shut it off, they'd have found it.

Founder Brian Posted May 13, 2011 Founder Share Posted May 13, 2011 had some time to runs a few benches:Very nice scores and OC man! You're hitting M17x-R2 territory with those numbers. It's gotta be the boobs.
DaneGRClose
Nice runs man, you running DICE or A/C on those runs? You're getting closer to that 1ghz core
iloveb00bs
using the ac, thats pretty much as far as i can go any higher i get huge amounts of artifacts. i ran a vantage at 920/1000 and the water disappeared during the first scene, hahaha
mw86
had some time to runs a few benches: Congrats Iloveboobs your score is close to my R2 3Dmark11 stock scores! SVL7 is around the same. That's awesome for sure! This was my stock scores i posted in M17X R2 Benchmark thread. I took off tape from gpu heat fins, removed non invasive gpu retention clip mod that used cardboard washers cut into c-clips. I Set laptop flat on table with no laptop cooler, reset Dell's factory set TDP of 62, i did not utilize throttle stop or Hwinfo controlling fan speed. The clocks are all stock, the multipliers are all stock, and the bios options are all stock. Here's a 3DMark2011 run to compare overclocked and stock speeds. http://i1237.photobucket.com/albums/ff474/marcwwaters86/Benchmark/3dmark201146173dmarksstocksystem.jpg 3dmark 2011 4617 3dmarks Stock clocks Result
DaneGRClose
Here's my most recent benchies, some promising stuff here as I think it could be pushed even further with some driver and CCC tweaking. Vantage: P16,128 GPU: 14,793 CPU: 22,117 11: P4,445 Graphics: 4,150 Physics: 7,905 Combined: 3,960 06: 22,317 SM2.0: 9,126 SM3.0: 10,108 CPU: 6,345
svl7
Just... WOW!! Very impressive, 16k vantage... I wish I could get such clocks with my card!
Revelator
Great runs, Dane! Those 6970m clocks during the Vantage run are amazing. Extra cooling?
DaneGRClose
Yeah just some light a/c though, don't think I want to go quite as far as dice on this rig, I may consider it down the road but not right now as I don't want to run the risk of jacking it up by pushing it too far with dice on it. I just lowered the temps to about 20-25 c before starting the run. I like the new 11.5a hotfix drivers, they bench very well.

K-Nabeesse
What do you call CCC tweak ? I can't find anything on this forum for that..??
DaneGRClose
Changing the settings in Catalyst Control Center, settings such as tesselation levels, aa levels, etc that can determine how well you run a game or benchmark. I just call it CCC tweak as I didn't feel like typing the entire statement out.
Founder Michael Posted May 17, 2011 Founder Share Posted May 17, 2011 So who's up for writing a M17x-R3 overclocking tutorial ?
DaneGRClose
I could probably write something up, are you needing one or just want one on the site in general Michael? And CPU, GPU, or both?
