NVIDIA 'Maxwell' VBIOS mods Here you find modified VBIOS versions for the mobile parts of the Nvidia 'Maxwell' series. The VBIOS versions in this post are tweaked for performance and versatility. You'll get almost complete control over the performance parameters of your GPU. List of available VBIOS mods: Nvidia GTX 970m - 'OC edition' rev0 - >> 6 GB Version << - modified by @johnksss & svl7 -> see attachments Nvidia GTX 980m - 'OC edition' rev0 - >> 8 GB Version << - modified by @johnksss & svl7 -> see attachments Screenshot demonstrating the capabilities of the 970m versions: >> Read the instructions carefully before flashing! << If anything is unclear after reading or if you have additional remarks, please post in the thread. Flashing: - Go to the device manager -> 'Display Adapters' -> chooser your GPU, right click on it and choose disable - Flash the VBIOS with mnvflash, a modified version of nvflash (see attachments). Here are detailed instructions for nvflash in case you aren't familiar with it. - After the flashing is done: Enable the GPU once again in the device manager. - Reboot Do NOT use driver 347.09, it's broken and useless and won't allow you to overclock, even with the stock firmware. Clevo P150EM + GTX 970M FPS Issue

Hi all, I've my GTX 970M working for a good while, but I decided to re-apply the thermal paste today because my card seemed to get a bit hot and my gaming would suffer from fps drops. I figured re-applying the thermal paste would work, but it didn't. I then uninstalled the drivers and tried reinstalling different drivers to see if they'd perform better, but for some reason my FPS is constantly below 60 FPS no matter what game it is. I've tried checking my settings in nVidia control panel, I tried flashing the vBios, I've changed countless settings to try and make it work but nothing is working. I also noticed that when I use Speed Fan, the GPU section doesn't consistently show my GPU temps. It stays at 0 Celsius for the most part, but then randomly reads 47 Celsius. Any ideas of what could be wrong or how to possibly fix this?

    REQUEST - MSI GE72 2QF unlocked VBIOS.

Hello. I recently cleaned my laptop and changed thermal paste, so GPU has a lot of headroom for OC. At full load it's at 60c. And throttling only starts at 87c for both CPU and GPU. I searched everywhere, but it seems no one really modded this laptop's VBIOS. I found one person who does it, but he requires a donation for it. Since I don't have a lot of money I didn't even try to donate and see if it's enough. So maybe someone can help me out here? The laptop is with i7-4720HQ downclocked to 3.0 Ghz instead of 3.6 Ghz due to temperatures at full load, 16 GB of DDR3 ram and a GTX 970M 3GB. Added link for original VBIOS file. https://www.msi.com/Laptop/support/GE72-2QF-Apache-Pro-4.html#down-firmware Direct download link from MSI. Driver version for the lazy - 84.04.26.00.29.

    [HDMI Problems] P650RE6 Signal loss

Hello Guys, So my problem is very simple. And I'm here asking if this happened to another users and if they found the solution to this problem. I have an external monitor, new (and was tested with another computer to rule out the possibility of being a monitor problem), that is connected to my P650RE6 (the one with a gtx 970m). I have also changed the HDMI cable to try out. So, randomly I have some loss of the signal that is being transmitted via HDMI to the External Monitor. This happens randomly, and when I am using the computer normaly, like browsing, seeing some youtube's videos, etc. No problem occurs when I am using the full performance of the laptop, like playing games, and no problem occurs when I am on battery either. Also, when the laptop is being used normally and the battery is also charging, I have no problem. So could something like this happened to another user? On my retail store they say that they know that this problem exists with P600 series, but neither them or Clevo know why is happening. What can I do? Could a miniDisplayPort adapter to HDMI fix this (in that case I am using another port)? Thanks everyone
  12. Hello everyone! I'm new here. I recently bought a GE62 6QF and I want to play a bit with it. I always had a passion for hardware and Overclocking, but I never tried overclocking a laptop! I started some reading here and there about OC best practices for laptops and for this one in particular. The dGPU in this laptop is a Gtx 970m 3gb, with a stock vbios version 84.04.91.00.0E. By default, as probably everyone of you know, the Core overclock is limited to +135mhz, and the memory to +1000mhz. At the moment I reached a stable situation with +135/+496, but the temperature never goes over 65°C with maximum fan speed. What I would like to do is to push a bit further these values. I saw some interesting vbios for similar gpus uploaded here, but unfortunately i cannot download them yet, so I would like to start a discussion about vbios modification. I downloaded MaxwellBiosTweaker and i would like to know if someone have some suggestions. What i want to do first is to set the default clock to 1059MHz and Memory to 1501MHz since the gpu is very stable with this setting. Second i want to remove the core clock limit of +135mhz. Probably also the voltage must be increased a bit. Here you can see my current settings Do you think I can just apply these values in MaxwellBiosTweaker like in the following screen? Since now is working without any voltage change I modified only the clocks as you can see from the screenshot Attached you can also find the original vbios file. Suggestions? Thanks vbios.rom

Any ideas of what could be wrong or how to possibly fix this? **EDIT** So I've noticed that the card just isn't working at all, which explains the low FPS. Although i'm not entirely sure why it's doing that. MSI Afterburner shows that it doesn't have any activity as well as the built-in nVidia GPU activity application I've got going on my task bar. In-game the icon isn't even colored, it's just black and white. I updated my bios with Prema's latest for my P150EM and I flashed my vBios, but still nothing. I've also tried installing 5 different drivers and they all yield the same results. Help would be much appreciated!!!!!

EEPROM error unable to flash vbios

I've been trying unsuccessfully to flash the vbios on my Metabox P650RE-G. I've tried flashing with nvflash and keep encountering the message: "Identifying EEPROM... EEPROM ID (C8,4011) : GD GD25Q10 2.7-3.6V 1024Kx1S, page ERROR: ROM image too large for EEPROM" Even though the file I am attempting to flash is only 189KB. I've even tried flashing the stock vbios which is 188KB and that gives the same error. The the only change in the ROM's is that I altered some settings in Maxwell Bios Tweaker. I'm not sure if I'm meant to clear the EEPROM or doing something else. Clevo 170SM-A with GTX 970M 6GB

Hi, I bought a Clevo 170SM-A with a GTX 970M 6GB GPU at http://www.clevocenter.com last year. For some unknown reason (at least to me...) I'm just not able to update Nvidia drivers since version 359.06 (BSOD or other times "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)". This is the current status of my GPU: Do I need to upgrade the BIOS and/or vBIOS? Which files do I need to use for this upgrade? I hope you can help me to solve this issue.
  16. Not sure where to post this so I just added it to general. I just upgraded my M17X R4 120Hz from 675m to a 980m and I'm having a problem I hope someone here can help me with. To start: It was installed correctly and successfully on Windows 10 (I wanted to start somewhere more certain). Everything worked fine and everything read fine (as far as the graphics card goes). After I was sure everything was working properly, I reverted to Windows 7. As I read, with the current unlocked BIOS A11 (posted on this site) it's capable of running 9xxM series in windows 7. When I installed 7 on this laptop soon after buying it (reformatted old HDD, moved to bay 1, inserted 500GB SSD in bay 0 and installed 7 OS on it) I installed selecting the UEFI option and the drive is in GPT. As mentioned, I have Unlocked A11 BIOS (thank you to the maker on this site!). Anyway, once I reverted to 7 it started to boot up and said it needed to run startup repair. I allowed it and it froze once the bar filled at the bottom. Upon restarting I tried once more.. same thing. I tried to "start normally" and it starts boot looping. I then changed "Load Legacy Option Rom" from disable to enable. This causes the 8 beep post issue immediately upon power on. This problem doesn't exist when this option is disabled. I then utilized the HDMI trick (I made a separate post for this the other day. Connect HDMI out to any screen and it will cause post on the laptop screen [but not on the external device]. Can then immediately disconnect once post has occured and works fine with no error or beeps). This let it boot up and I'm able to get to the desktop and everything works fine. Can even run screen at 120Hz. I ran diagnostics on the card, checked drivers.. everything is reading correctly. This is workable, but far from an ideal solution as I need to have a cable and some kind of HDMI screen available just to boot up every time. I have two option here and I'm hoping someone can provide a little guidance one way or the other. I can either fix the boot looping issue on "Legacy Rom - disabled" (it hangs on classpnp.sys when I try safe mode if that information helps at all). OR, I need to find a way for it to post when "Legacy Rom - enable" without connecting to an HDMI device (just plugging in the cable doesn't work. It has to be connected to something on the other end). For the first, I have tried start up repair and tried repairing using my WIN 7 disc but it doesn't actually pull up the menu. It just shows the windows loading screen and then freezes after a while. For the second I have tried changing different video options in hopes it will post on boot without connecting to an external or tried to find a way to keep the HDMI port active without something being in it. I can make no progress with either of these as I'm unaware exactly what exaclty the selections change. I currently have it set to PEG. Also, I have tried bios reset through removing all power sources and the 2032 CMOS and holding power button 30 seconds. Didn't help. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to ask any questions you have that could assist in ascertaining the source of the problem in either instance. As a last resort, I could go back to 10, but I would really rather not. The R4 (in Dell's words) isn't being tested for compatibility. Many features don't seem to work, and overall I just much prefer 7.
  17. Hi Guys! I recently bought an Alienware 15 gtx 970m and as much as possible, I want to max out its performance without the need for the god-awful graphics amplifier. With that in mind, I was planning on trying out overclocking to bring out the best in this machine. I've recently read about overclocking with an unlocked vbios and I would very much like to try it. Can you guys give me some advice, tips, and pointers regarding it? Also, is it relatively safe? Bear in mind that I have absolutely no experience regarding this. Thanks!
