  1. As a Brazilian resident I find it hard to believe that ANYTHING can be cheaper here :-)
  2. Just touched mine and it runs pretty cool. Doubt you'll have issues.
  3. I am pretty sure the m18xr2 would support such a configuration. As for the HDD, I don't see a reason to go SATA3 since it can't even max out SATA2 speeds.
  4. Not sure the M14xR1 has that option but some models allow to stop charging with a Fn+Fx combo. You sure your isn't pressed? Also, while the charger is connected and the computer is on, can you try pulling the battery and then put it back. Does the charging resume?
  5. I'd go with the Netgear WNDR3700, it's one of the stronger ones out there and has full DDWRT / OpenWRT support. Plus it can be had for quite cheap these days.
  6. Thank you for the detailed answer and the tips regarding TS @Mr. Fox! I am only seeing temps reach 100°c while benching the CPU, it doesn't even get close to that during normal use. It's just that i saw you guys posting screenshots of x45 at 100% on all cores and that got me thinking that my cooling isn't fine. What i am ultimately looking to achieve is the maximum productivity from the CPU during daily tasks (programming - building huge projects in eclipse which is pretty CPU intensive; running application servers etc and gaming). I am not into benching at all. So i am thinking now is that i need to get to a situation where the CPU can hold a 100% load for 30-45 seconds without throttling, which is probably more than enough to simulate 99% of real life scenarios. I am going to be aiming for that goal, which seems achievable at about x37 - x38 on all cores. Correct me if i am wrong. Ok, so i think my cooling as adequate, since i am able to sustain a higher multi than 34 on all cores for quite a long time. Thanks for your input buddy!
  7. Ok, so my triple piped heatsink is in. Can't say temps are low though. I've set my BIOS OC to 40,40,40,40, flex is 0, Pri Plane is 800 (that's the lowest i could go with pri-plane). I tried locking CMod at 100% with throttlestop and running a bench, the cpu reaches 100c pretty fast and throttles. The highest multi i was able to sustain a 100% load with is 37 or 38 (not sure) on all cores. It's low, but i've never really invested time in OCing before so i need your input guys ( @Brian / @mw86 / @Mr. Fox and others ). Should i bother opening the laptop again and replacing the default TIM that came with the heatsink with ICD/Shin Etsu, or are those temps ok ? BTW, laptop is on a cooler, and i further elevated it's back using rubber feet. Ambient temp is about 23-24c.
  8. I spent 5 minutes with the game and uninistalled it. I hated the play style, maybe I should give it a second look after such goo reviews.
  9. You come here to work and help and yet THIS is your first post... Good one.... Either participate and gain the right to download files or become an elite member. Thread closed.
  10. No, as i told you before. the card is completely and absolutely disabled when your run on the intel gpu. Again, there are options for revival.. i mentioned them already.
  11. if your system does not post you have 2 options - Find someone with m18x, put the card in the second slot and try to flash it. - Ask @svl7 nicely to reprogram (revive) your card
  12. When you are running on your Intel gpu the amd card is completely disabled and isn't visible at all. This is why you need to blind flash with the amd card being active, the procedure is described here on TI. On my phone now so can't look it up for you, it should be fairly easy to find
  13. +1000000000 on the glossy screen. Its such an annoyance.
  14. LMDE is pretty good. serves me well as my IBM dev. environment.
  15. Good to know. I struggled quite a bit with LMDE and the m18x at the time, but ended up fixing all the issues (sound, ati drivers, sleep issues)
  16. Wish I had your problems boobs :-)
  17. Well if the 17x-R2 had issues with 5870s which required a vbios update by Dell I would say it's safe to assume that the same problem would arise with the 6970s but without the possibility of dell issuing a new vbios. Why are you guys thinking it's physical damage? Sounds to me like the same problem as before..
  18. i seem to recall those issues with the m17x-R2 and newer ATI cards, at the time the same issue happened with 5870s... @Brian might have a solution for you.
  19. Which model of the m17x are you using?
  20. Is it just me or with every new year good movies become rarer and rarer ?
