Direct download link (Win7): http://www2.ati.com/drivers/hotfix/catalyst_11.10_preview/amd_catalyst_11.10_preview3_win7_vista.exe I just installed it, so it seems to support at least the 6990m when it comes to the mobile cards. Haven't tested it yet with BF3, will see how it performs. It seems to work very well for some people, other are reporting issues with Rage and other games. __________________________________________________________ The preview of Catalyst 11.10 is up on the AMD site, seems to be primarily made and optimized for BF3, check out the release notes: ****** Download link: http://support.amd.com/us/Pages/AMDCatalyst1110Previewdriver.aspx Edit: Here's a mobility mod, provided by V-FrIeNd from guru3d: [AIO] AMD Catalyst 11.10 Preview (8.901.0) Win7.7z ****** UPDATE: AMD Catalyst 11.10 Preview V2 (7th October 2011): New version has been released, this includes further optimization for BF3 open beta, and also should solve some issues with RAGE, haven't tried it yet, in case you install it let me know whether it works without a mobility mod and how the performance is. 3. You can join here, just check "join team" and choose Tech|Inferno. Then you can start submitting scores, there's a button on the upper right corner of the site. If scroll down this site you see a list with all possible benchmarks, and each has written "rules" next to them. Just click on the "rule" link of the benchmark you want to know the details, then you see some example screenshots. The stuff encircled red is necessary, the rest is voluntary. I usually only go with the mandatory stuff, that's more than enough. For GPU benches it includes the main window of CPU-Z and GPU-Z, for CPU benches you need to open several CPU-Z windows and display different tabs.

  4. I'm going to join tonight, how do I join and where do i fill in TI team etc... some of my original benches i had to re-beat... I had to learn how the screenshots have to be so some of my originals I wont be able to submit.. good thing lol i beat all of them by more again... like i didn't know the whole calculation in super pi must be shown etc. I'm hoping i bring some nice points... also on side note I have 5 other systems i can bench ( no overclock) as follows... 4 mobile systems Intel Core 2 Quad q9000 @ 2.ghz (going to undervolt so its cooler and benches higher), Intel Core 2 Duo T5750 @ 2ghz (undervolted to 0.975 vid at @ 2ghz he he), Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.4ghz not sure what model (i'll undervolt too), a Intel Core 2 Duo T5800 @ 2ghz ( will undervolt too) and an older desktop Pentium D 3.6ghz i'd love to pin mod if someone can help.... I can do Super PI + Wrpime on all of them plus on the Q9000 sytem I should be able to do a basic 3dmark 06 for it and if I could get a free or cheap PCI express GPU to overclock for the Pentium D I could do 3dmark 06, Vantage and depending on gpu age maybe get a 3dmark11 in..

  5. My guess is that there are 3 VRs, 1 for the CPU, one for the GPU core and one for the VRAM modules, each of them is operated at a different voltage, so this is the only way that really makes sense. The memory VR is probably a smaller one, with less pins. Well, you'll find out when you open the system.

  6. Update: Its Sept 29th and Dell still hadn't resolved the issue. Finally I got fed up and filed a complaint with BBB (attorney general was my next stop) for Dell failing to fulfill its warranty obligations. Within an hour of filing the complaint, Dell contacted me by phone and asked if I wanted a brand new xps 15z or a refund. I opted for a refund and they are now going to send me a box + label to return this piece of junk back to them. This is likely the last time I buy a Dell, I've been given the run around by their crappy customer service one too many times. I've been endorsing them for years with their Alienware and consumer brand laptops but not anymore. My next purchase will likely be a self built desktop + cheap notebook (maybe Lenovo Thinkpad or used MBP).

  7. After playing this on different servers, on and off (not really going nuts to level up or anything) mostly just performance measurements. I can honestly say.. im just not too impressed. Why.. 1. Snipers need serious balancing. 2. Spawn areas need to be protected. 3. It plays more like MOH MP than BFBC2 (and i dont like it) 4. The sound is good but something strange is afoot at the circle k when the enemy can hear me behind a cement wall CRAWLING on the ground over bullets and grenades and over 100 feet away. (Must be BF3 with Cryo uniforms) 5. the map is boring (hope others are better) 6. The gameplay is more than slow really. Meaning you spend most of the time running, diving, crawling and I emphasis CRAWLING unless you want a .34 K/D ratio. 7. Map looks the same as last time really. All in all .. 6 outta 10 so far. BFBC2 I would give 9 outta 10. Just my .02 StevenX

  8. I've got to get around to running some more benches, I believe almost all my points are from two 3dm11 pulls on my desktop and a tiny bit from my old q9400. I love that chip, took it from 2.66ghz to 4.2ghz and down to 9.310 seconds on Wprime32m. Not many non EE quad cores managed to get under ten.

  9. Thanks Ichime! You know, there's still Chrome... Never had issues with firefox and this site though. I think 950MHz is a bit much for 1.15V, my card gets to 860MHz with 1.1V, but of course every card is different... just increasing the voltage won't guarantee you that you can clock higher, even though that's usually how it works. As I said, the voltage supply for the GPU isn't sufficient in the M15x, looking forward to seeing this in a r3.

  10. Awesome job Marco! Wish I visited this site more but for whatever reason, Firefox doesn't like this site (minor freezes and certificate errors). BTW 1.15v would open the 6970M to about 950-960mhz core and 1.17v should allow for 1000mhz core.

  11. Hey, just discovered this. Planning to join maybe tomorrow, too much work now. Perhaps put my 18k on a single GPU to good use. I realized you wanted a slogan. What about "Because overkill simply isn't enough"?

  12. @DR650SE : Great work, I see you've been busy with benching... that's about another 20 points you just added, impressive!! I'll have to do all the "legacy" benchmarks too, I just need to get enough time for this. Will have to make sure everything's working properly before I plan such a session. A little heads-up, with the latest submissions of DR650SE, @Jimbo (and some tiny points from me) we're now team #268 (global), but we still have to beat "the other forum", keep it up!! Still looking forward to seeing mw86 throwing in some nice scores

  14. Hmm, might miss mobility support of some cards... it's only a preview, haven't tested it yet. Here's a mobility mod, provided by V-FrIeNd from guru3d: [AIO] AMD Catalyst 11.10 Preview (8.901.0) Win7.7z Havent had time to install and test it so far, will do when I get the beta key. (If I ever get it)

  15. Okies, decided that for me to learn soldering would take too long, so I've found someone willing to undertake the soldering for me. To go ahead, do I need anything other than - 2 x 500Ω or 1kΩ potentiometers Wire (what gauge? Or does some other measurement get used?) Multimeter (anything in particular I need to look for here?)

  16. Depends on the seller, if you need help with getting parts let me know, usually all German dealers ship to Switzerland.

  17. True... what about making a monster 480W PSU as seen on NBR?

  18. ... I wonder how well a volt modded 6990m in a r2 performs... or two?
