This is supercomputing in action

@nesone, whoah that's some serious supercomputing 4xTITANs going there. Congratulations! You give an example of why Intel would not want eGPU processing using their Thunderbolt technology. Doing so cannabalizing their core CPU market. More at http://forum.techinferno.com/diy-e-gpu-projects/8130-why-intel-not-allowing-thunderbolt-egpus-ideas-inside.html

No sli bridge?

Any chance it could be tested in win8.1 how sli works

Seems like nesone is using this setup for rendering in OSX -> no SLI required.

The only SLI tested is this one: http://forum.techinferno.com/implementation-guides-apple/7326-2013-13-macbook-pro-gtx780ti-sli%4016gbps-tb2-sonnet-ee-sel-win8-1-%5Bsquinks%5D.html#post100318

Ah thanks, and that also answered another question I had about TB ports sharing bandwidth. However this was done on sonnet, I would like to see if this was possible with akitio.

How did you manage to use the internal display EGPu on mac?

This is because your application you can choose your GPU?

I can not define my 970 as the default map

Yes in elite dangerous you can choose the gpu. I have not tried with any other game yet. Been working every day for the past month.

is that it could work with the application: gfxCardStatus

For ungine valley on an external display, I can use the 970 but not on the internal display, which uses iris card

There is currently no real way to get fullscreen games with eGPU performance on the internal screen in OSX. The pictures from above are apps that can adress the GPU directly for rendering.

I have a maxed out Late 2013 Macbook Pro and GTX 980 TI w/ 850 EVGA Power Supply. Mine is bottlenecking as my main use in Davinci Resolve and Adobe Premiere. How can you run two Titans and I can barely run one 980 TI? Can I change the settings to make it work better?

Hi NESONE,

I am interested in upgrading my graphic to a single Titan Z and would like to run it on my Macbook pro (OS X Yosemite and not bootcamp and windows). You seem like a pro and I've never done a modification like this. can you please tell me what kind of power supply and cables I need in order to power up only a single Titan z? also if you can include a link of where I can buy the cable and power supply I'd really appreciate it.

@newontheblock The Titan Z can draw up to 375W of power and needs strong 12V rails on the PSU. Desktop PC PSUs with (at least) 550W or more power should have the necessary plugs (2x8-Pin PCIe) to power the Titan Z.

Additionally you would need to make (by yourself) a Molex to barrel plug to power the AKiTiO itself from that same PSU as well.

Wow. Great build nesone.

We are in a similar boat, trying to use Titan Z for Octane rendering via Thunderbolt (only, not for 'driving a monitor).

The "how to" youtube links no longer work.

Would you be so kind as to add updated links on the software install/mod.

We already have an electrician (PC builder) to help mod psu and Akitio.

Thanks from Sydney Australia.

Much appreciated.

There's no more to it? No (manually) modifying kext files and such?

The script should do it. Better ask if the GPU chip you want to use is working with the script. But with the older cards it should do the kext mods and just skip the drivers.

Have you had an issues with two card daisy chained.  Also are you on 10.11.6 currently.  I am trying to do a similar set up with 3 cards and 3 Akitos on a Mac Pro 2013.  Hopefully it goes well.  Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
