[Alienware - Clevo - MSI] Aftermarket Upgrades Driver Support - Modded INF

Recommended Posts

nvcvi.inf did not install on dedicated mode.

Looks like the drivers are still black screen on a cold boot. It might be the is and the drivers.

I need GPU IDs HWID, switching to dedicated mode seems to change HWID like M17x.

That was it :)

Thanks a million!

I noticed from your signature you are using "CMSX 16GB CL9/1T @2000MHz" , how has that been for you? would you recommend it?

I've been shopping around, looking for RAM upgrade (no budget) and came across this.

GpmpH.jpg

Would this be compatible with my machine and run well, or is there something bigger, better, more expensive I should order?

Thanks again for all your help with my driver issue!

Only 4x4GB 2133 MHz or 2x8GB 1866 MHz http://forum.techinferno.com/alienware-m17x-aw-17/3220-2133mhz-ram-post-issue-m17x-r4-amd-7970m-gpu.html

Anyone looked into the 353.17 beta drivers?

That's what I use in my M18xR2 and it is excellent memory. Delivers excellent performance, stable and runs 2133 with automatic BIOS settings.

Oddly enough, it does not work well at all in my P570WM, but I would recommend it for your M18xR2 based on my own experience with it.

Not the M17xR4 4x4GB 2133 or 2X8GB 1866. I'm using XMP 2000. R4's little hidden gifts.

Its the bios/motherboard loads some of the automatic or XMP timings 0-3 lower on some latencies than programmed. So if you have 2133 11 11 11 31 it is loading like 10 10 10 29 and even other timings like that. So as you would figure this causes them to destabalize. I had pc issues yesterday will get you xmp for your P570 by tonight, very sorry I didnt get them made and sent yesterday. Ill try to make 2133 and 2400 so you can load the stock 2133mhz without manually setting those timings. Cheers buddy maybe we can together fix anyones Panther 5 with memory issues. The way mine loads is just like yours without modification. 1867 and its not even the right 1867 timings as a result. Working right on my system with modified settings. Hope truly to help you get yours where you want it. My p570 is my workhorse so am trying to get the most out of it as my Alien 18 is a sad excuse for a workstation due to the cooling. My 4940mx w/880m SlI in that system doesnt mean much the way Dell/Alienware left the EC. Corsiar Vengence/HyperX Impact/Samsung chips all ram I swear by. I have and used sets from each of these.

Unfortunately M17xR4 is limited to 4x4GB 2133, 2X8GB 1866 or XMP 2000. R4's little hidden gifts.

Why is xmp 2000 the limit J95. What did Frank limit that caused that? The P570 only supports 2133mhz ram but I got an unsupported ram speed by the use of XMP. So Frank programmed something that hindered what I did there? The alien 18 they failed completely no XMP at all... programmed the SPD table to get 2400 on the autotmatic ram setting or setting 2400mhz manually so it doesnt surprise me that Alienware messed something up on M17x R4 as it seems a pattern of late. They included 2666 in bios if Alie 18 though but no XMP... go figure !?

Yep, R4 also has 2400, totally useless. Even chipset config. I'm able to boot 2x8 2133/chipset config, but it's unstable. BIOS wise the m18xR2 will probably do 2200 or even higher using XMP, then it comes down to the controller.

4x4 2133, 32GB was the initial idea.

2x8 1866 or XMP 2000

I will try those new Kingston sticks 4x4 2133, any links?

@mw86 your XMP profiles + chipset settings, Mr. Fox's M18xr2 will achieve 2200+...;)

still getting a black screen after booting in dedicated mode.

Hardware IDs below:

PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D7&SUBSYS_05AD1028&REV_A1

PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D7&SUBSYS_05AD1028

PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D7&CC_030000

PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D7&CC_0300

EDIT: It seems that during the booting when the blackscreen occurs there's a whole lot of display driver entries saying that the driver failed and recovered. I better double check the hardware IDs.

I also think that the build of wind 10 (10130) is busted for me. reverting to 8.1.

Hey J95 I was wondering what sort of temperatures are you getting on your 980m? I have a single 980m installed on an M18x, and I pretty much use the same OC as you (1228/2933) and I get about 81 degrees playing the Witcher 3. Is that a healthy temperature?

M18xR2 is booting with a 2400 XMP profile, but only running 2133, so probably one or two of the timings needs to be tweak. Thanks to @mw86, the P570WM is running 2400.

That would be sooooo cool if so buddy. I bought mine from Amazon. have 3 pair lol of those kits 2 for quad channel on panther and 1 pair for dual channel on Alien 18.

Congratulations bro I knew together we could get it accomplished. Wow what nonsense in the ram timings on the Panther 5 lol right? In future if other Panther 5 users want my help I would offer to help program their stock timing to an XMP profile. As well as if they want to try 2400 or 2133 if it is higher than their stock ram speed. Cheers just glad to help and contribute to this great community. Love all my friends here :D You guys are all awesome!

Looks like the nvidia drivers are just not stable enough for win 10. I don't think any of J95's inf mods actually improved anything as I tried both the 352.84 and 353.17 beta drivers to no avail.

I told you to first try Optimus, like everyone else, anyway 353,17 is working fine M17xR4 120Hz.

353.00 and 353.06 are crashing in CODAW.

No problem, I've got better things to do...

That's not to say I don't appreciate the help with the modded infs.

EDIT: I have rolled back to the 350.12 drivers because the chrome TDRs are annoying.

Do you know what the cause for PEG not working in the win 10 drivers?

Odd thing with my m18xr2 (GTX980Mx2 SLI). When I start the computer under a cold boot the computer is stuttery and freezes every few seconds when I log into my profile on the computer. Dunno whats causing it with the driver because the older ones dont seem to be doing it. For the moment im using the basic intel graphics chip to boot the computer then switching over to the SLI setup without issue. Have restarted it directly as well but a couple of times its caused it to blackscreen after boot and ive had to do a startup repair once or twice. Using stock settings btw I dont use overclock on this since the stock settings can max the games out that I play anyways.

Edit: After suffering an OS corruption (exe files wouldnt launch) and reinstalling the system I found that rolling back to the 350.12 drivers has solved the issue completely. Computer runs perfectly again. Cold boot issue seems to be with the 352.86 and 353.06 drivers. Dunno whats causing it to stutter like this from a cold boot though,

GeForce 353.00 Hotfix

  • This is a GeForce Hot Fix driver, version 353.00 that addresses the following issues:
  • Fixes a regression that prevented overclocking the GPU on some GeForce Notebooks
    INF MOD v353.00
    nv_dispi.inf: PEG/Dedicated All Models (including Optimus/M17xR4) excluding AW 2015 - GTX 980M , 970M , 965M , 880M , 870M , 860M , 780M , 770M , 765M , 680M , 675MX , 670MX
    nvcvi.inf: Optimus Alienware 17 / 05AA (only) GTX 980M - 970M - 965M
    GeForce 353.00 HF

This driver works absolutely fantastic with my 980M . Thanks a lot J95. My alienware seems like another machine after the update !!

Thanks again
