  1. Just a standard install (with the modded inf files of course) with stock vbios, clocks, and everything else. I've been wondering, could this be a hardware issue? I've been pushing my card pretty hard recently with Ghost Recon Wildlands and Mass Effect Andromeda and Andromeda especially ran pretty hot at around 78-81 degrees for me. Could there have been damage done to the card?
  2. Hmm... newest drivers seems to have decreased stability for me in the Witcher 3. Game crashes 5-10 minutes at stock clocks and I actually have to underclock core by about 50-100 to avoid crashes. Curious, the Witcher 3 is notorious for being extremely sensitive to even slightly modified clocks (even when similarly demanding games and benchmarks like Heaven are completely rid of artifacts much less crashing) but I've never had this issue before with old drivers and certainly not at stock settings.
  3. @J95 Hey. I just followed your instructions for installing 368.25 on my M18xR2 with a single 980M (fantastic work on the guides btw!). Following your instructions I flashed Prema's vbios. My question is: is it absolutely necessary to use Prema's vbios for the new video drivers? As you know Prema's vbios has the card sit at a default voltage of 1.062, this is a bit of a problem for me since I only have a 240W power supply, and the current summer season + an unreliable AC puts my card at uncomfortably high temperatures with this voltage.
  4. Yes I've noticed that the GPU fan isn't as responsive to high temperatures than it maybe should be. I'll definitely give HWINFO a try. If you don't mind, do you mind sharing your HWINFO fan settings?
  5. I've recently flashed Prema's vbios for my single GTX 980M in a M18x R2. I did notice a noticeable increase in gaming performance, but also a pretty significant increase in temperatures. With stock vbios/clocks and a cooling pad at 22C ambient I get 78C locked on the GPU. With Prema's vbios that increases to about 80-82 in demanding games like Rise of the Tomb Raider. Took the cooling pad off and the temperatures went up to 87C with no signs of stopping before I got too worried and pulled the plug. I'm definitely starting to suspect something is wrong with my system GPU side (thermal paste? bad fan curve?). What sort of temperatures do you guys get with a 980M? And what would be considered safe? (Prema's bios has throttle protection kick in at 92C and I'm getting dangerously close to that without a cooling pad)
  6. Hey guys, I need some help. I recently installed Windows 10 Insider preview (Build 10162) to test out 3DMark's DX 12 bench. However After installing drivers (I tried J95's 353.38 and 352.84) on my 980M, if I do a full reboot (shut down->startup again) I get either a blank display or flashing artifacts with no hint of a proper image being rendered. Strangely enough, everything is fine and dandy as long as I don't fully power off after installing drivers (Even the reboot option in Windows works fine since power is never cut). I was wondering if anybody experienced anything similar before, and has any tips. I know this is a niche problem right now but with the proper release of Windows 10 a few weeks away I'm rather worried about compatibility.
  7. Well here is what I have... On a side note, Win 10 Insider Preview (at least Build 10162) isn't playing nice with Prema mod. Driver crashes pretty much constantly, and once I power off and reboot I either get a blank display or white artifacts after Windows starts up. Flashing back to stock vbios seems to fix it.
  8. Hey J95 I was wondering what sort of temperatures are you getting on your 980m? I have a single 980m installed on an M18x, and I pretty much use the same OC as you (1228/2933) and I get about 81 degrees playing the Witcher 3. Is that a healthy temperature?
  9. J95 please work on 352.86 ASAP! Super hyped for the Witcher 3 which is unlocking tonight, but I don't think experience will be optimal without game ready drivers
  10. Pretty sure Nvidia marketed dsr for mobile maxwell as well...
  11. I installed 347.90 on a M18x R2 with a single GTX 980M. Yet I can't find the DSR option in the Nvidia Control Panel. Anybody know why?
  12. Hey J95. I downloaded your 347.90 Optimus driver and installed it. Installation went fine, but optimus isn't working correctly. System still uses integrated on everything even though "High Performance Processor" is selected in control panel. I've been having this issue with alot of driver and the only one that works fine so far is Mr. Fox's 344.75 driver. I have an Alienware m18x r2 with a single GTX 980M installed. To keep Windows 7 I'm forced to use optimus. Do you guys have any idea whats going on? If I really can't find a solution I'll guess I'll switch to UEFI on Win10TP. Can't stay on 344.75 forever, need dem game profiles when the Witcher 3 comes out lol.
  13. These have the option to enable SG mode on the 18x r2 right? I want to upgrade to a single 980m while still keeping win7 and I heard that SG mode is the only way.
  14. I have an Alienware m18x r2 and I want to ask do I have to go UEFI and ditch Windows 7 if I am only going to install 1 980M? I'm going to upgrade to 980m sli one at a time since I don't have the money to get 2 at once. I'd love if I could keep my current system for a few more months.
  15. Hey guys. I have an Alienware M18x R2 with a single GTX 660m. I just ordered a GTX 980M from hidevolution and a 100W heatsink to go along with it. Its due to arrive next week. So before it comes I want to ask a few questions about the upgrade since I've never done anything like this before. 1. I understand that I must use UEFI on and Legacy ROM off for the 980m to work. So that means I'll have to upgrade (or downgrade, depending on how you look at it) to windows 8 from windows 7. So when it comes do I just make adjustments to bios, upgrade card, and install win8 through usb drive? Or is it more complicated than that. (I've heard vaguely that you have to reformat drive to GPT. But I have no idea how to do that). Also, what about the data on my secondary drives? Do they also have to go to switch to UEFI? 2. Can someone explain to me what is up with this modded driver nonsense? Why do we have to mod the driver once we upgrade a card? Im currently planning to just install Mr.Fox's modified desktop driver. But after that do I have to modify drivers everytime there is an update?
