Alienware m18xR2 use another way (hardware and software) for Display switch between iGPU and dGPU. Some MSI laptops model use the same method. I don't know exactly, but i think that Nvidia's Pascal cards should be compatible with LVDS.

Hi! Send me your file backup of bios, I'll look at it. For creating backup of bios use attached program. Extract attached archive directly on the Desktop and run the program as Administrator (right click mouse). Program will create archive "results" directly on the Desktop. Send me this archive "results" via PM or upload it to any fileserver and send me the link. https://www.sendspace.com/file/mxoavw Also send me your screenshot in NVIDIA Inspector.

It's impossible. Because your laptop use Optimus technology. Optimus it's not only software in bios! It's also hardware. As you can see, LCD connected only to the Intel HD4000.

Mechnically? Yes of course. If you mean main system bios, then i think it's not necessarily, but it's good idea. If you mean vbios, then yes, the best choice to flash MSI vbios.

If you can't prepare backup of your vbios with any version of NVFlash, then you can't flash unlocked vbios. Flashing procedure use NVFlash utility.

For creating backup of your vbios, use this command: nvflash64 -b backup.rom Also try use different version of NVFlash, for Windows or for DOS.
