  1. if its 106, then you may want to stick with a05. Some feedback from others would be nice. I still use a01 (non-volt mod) because I game at 750/1000 and thats plenty for me. flash a05 (stock) for now. Then completely remove all the driver software. Install the intel display driver, then the official driver for alienware, then see what happens. Please understand you may have to actually go into hardware (device) manager, choose the display, update the drivers and manually choose the INF thats appropriate for the driver. Im sorry your having so many problems... Worse case scenario, call them back out fast if you don't get this resolved. This is eating into your gaming time!!!!
  2. Does GPU-z show you the chipset? 106gf or 116 gf? That will be the key as to what to use.
  3. @phel - the gpu - is probably the 116GF and therefore you can only use the later bios offerings from Alienware (meaning a08). I wouldn't try a03 or a01. This may be part of the problem.
  4. This is my score on the 555mGT score on 3dmark11. Not that these count as game performance... 1901 @ 800/1080 (probably my max gaming clocks at stock voltage). NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2630QM Processor,Alienware M14xR1 score: P1901 3DMarks
  5. I have the Rocketfish Dual Sided mousepad.. (its similar to the Razer Vespula). Its for hardcore gaming. The surface control is AMAZING! I got it a while back at Best Buy and I actually got two of them for the price of one. Its large, its bulky but it fits on my lapdesk. Construction is metal so its heavier than most pads. Take Care, StevenX
  6. Re-paste! That should help greatly! good luck and best wishes... StevenX
  7. For you Father... I love you... I miss you... I will see you again soon.
  8. Thanks SVL.. let us know if you need further help. Best wishes, StevenX
  9. The challenge phoenix is that any bios besides A01 puts your (GPU speed) into a mobile mode and it severely downclocks it. What you can "try" to do is to see if the unlocked A08 allows you to manually clock the GPU on battery mode to something like 400/800/800.. Which is a more sensible clock speed on battery. I wish you the best of luck. the newer models of the m14x will not be able to utilize the older bios (example A01 or A03). Best wishes, StevenX
  10. Congrats Jimbo.. I hope all goes well with school! Hope you do better than myself. I got bored after 4 years and just stopped going...
  11. Hey guys, just go ahead and enable physx like this guy and re-run the benchmarks again. Then beat his score and then give him a gentle nudge or jedi hand wave... 'move along, this isn't the forum your looking for'...
  12. This has the smell of a NBR parrot crew member... Oh well.. you knew it was going to happen sooner or later.
  13. @Sandro - need details on what type of machine you have. Model, specs, etc... Also for GT4, prepare for disappointment. Its just not meant to run on pc. Im not saying that to be mean, its just a very bad port and literally thousands have tried and it just doesn't work out well. If your set on that type of game try Saints Row 3. Runs smooth, good graphics and all around better pc experience. Good luck, StevenX
  14. System M14xR1, I7-2630qm, 4gb ram 1333, 64gb SSD, Nvidia 555mGT 1.5 NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2630QM Processor,Alienware M14xR1 score: P1450 3DMarks (all stock run, details listed on futuremark) 3DMARK Vantage Score - 6538 (STOCK) NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2630QM Processor,Alienware M14xR1 score: P6538 3DMarks
  15. May have to re-download the game. I had to re-download it myself last night. As my saved image was corrupt. Good luck, StevenX
  16. And that's why Battlestar is one of my favorite shows and I watched every episode. I Miss it...
  17. @Rypac - I received my m14x the first week they were available. I have really loved the machine so far minus a few minor details that get on my nerves. (like the issues with dual SSD drives). I like the machine because (for me) it fits the line between portable, comfortable to keep in lap, performance and features. I was playing some blu-rays from the exernal asus bdrom drive I have and again I was amazed (even at 720p) on how the screen looks and the sound quality. The others have a point about waiting. Ive had mine since the end of april 2011. I would assume that Alienware will refresh this machine pretty soon. For me, I really like the I7 cpu. It doesn't always make a huge difference in games but when you need it, its there. Also it can be scaled back to conserve battery. The gpu is good enough to output to a large TV. I was showing my real father Star Wars the old republic on my sony 46 lcd a few weeks ago and he was impressed how clean it looked. I wont lie and say the machine is all powerful and its equal to the m17. Its not. The CPUs are comparable since they both take the same 26xx, 27xx, 28xx series. The graphics are not in the same ballpark. The 560m is not much more powerful at lower resolutions but once you get above 720p it pulls away. The 580x or 6990 and no reason to even compare. As long as you are realistic about what the m14x can do I think its a great machine. Good Luck, StevenX
  18. Probably just posted some true info with some value and whamo... you've been banned son!
  19. Outstanding.. Life long ban = WELCOME! to T|I. Congrats on the Ban and glad to have you on here!
  20. My grill isn't lifted up. The challenge is that grill has to be pushed down with a little effort to get a solid fit. Ive taken mine apart a lot but I don't have any lift. Good luck, StevenX
  21. The 14x has 2 dimms. 1866 is a challenge due to heat but others have achieved it. The manual for the m14x only shows configurations up to 8gb. If bios release a05 or higher allows greater memory than you need to confirm with dell to be certain.
  22. its 2am CST where I am so Im about to crash. Will check in with you in the morning. Good Luck.. StevenX
  23. Just do a search for the file on your computer and then copy the new INF to over write it. That's probably the fastest way to do it.
