  1. This mod replaces the On Screen Display (OSD) icons that show on screen when you use the dedicated touch panel or keyboard shortcuts to change a setting on the laptop. An example would be when you press the "volume up" button, the OSD icon for the volume level appears on the screen.
  2. Welcome to the forums zork You need 5 quality posts before being able to download from T|I, the link to download is in the first post.
  3. Yes I think 5150 Joker suggestion of resetting the CMOS should work. But I've read also that the BIOS doesn't detect the 8GBx2 although it works fine in Windows.
  4. If you have any overclocks on your card/s, return them back to stock speeds. Also use GPU-Z and log temps to a file to see what temps the card is hitting when the PC freezes. Its most likely the GPU causing the problem since it seems its cutting the signal to the screen for some reason.
  5. If it still boots with the primary GPU fan unplugged, try using the primary fan in the secondary slot and leave the CPU fan as per normal... or have you tried that?
  6. It could be the lack of a second GPU fan. Try only with a single card in the primary slot which you know works but disconnect the primary GPU fan and see if you experience the same symptoms. Worth a try as I see you're waiting for the secondary GPU fan.
  7. imsolidstate posted a mod transferring the ID chip from the 240w PSU to the 330w PSU. You can read more about it in his post here.
  8. Was your card overclocked as well? What cards are these btw Dell or Clevo?
  9. It has been confirmed to work with the R4 see long2905's post here.
  10. Not that I'm aware of. It requires SLi certification for the cards in the motherboard's BIOS and as far as I know no ones managed to get around it, even with the workaround that was used get the 580M's to work in SLi. @[email protected] Did you manage to get your BIOS flashed with the method I linked to?
  11. Were you flashing the vBIOS or normal BIOS? Check here for recovery procedures for the normal BIOS. If its the vBIOS you can blind flash, I'm sure there's a guide here on T|I.
  12. That's normal. Its the same on my machine. Note that it says "5800 Series" that means its a card from the 5800 series of GPU's, which it is. I suspect that the VBIOS from Dell you are trying to flash is already flashed. The last VBIOS update allowed AMD Drivers to be used instead of Dell's which are by now extremely outdated. Go to AMD's driver page and download the latest Catalyst Mobility drivers. You shouldn't be using any Dell video driver at this point in time.
  13. @imsolidstate from your guide and I see the chip uses 3 pins. Two for ground and the ID signal. Is there any components on the PSU board between the ID signal and motherboard that affects the motherboard's query? The reason I ask is I would prefer to connect the chip directly to the motherboard within the M17x's chassis, so I don't have to crack open the 330w. This would also save me the trouble of replacing the 330w if ever I need to without doing the mod again.
  14. Try one of the Disk Utilities like SeaTools and check the S.M.A.R.T status. Also you can try running all the long diagnostic tests overnight, I think it includes a complete sector scan. Bear in mind that this is going to give your drive a good workout so in the off chance it is faulty I would back up anything you need before running the tests. I'm not sure if it can detect early signs of mechanical failure though, I think the tests are more focused on the platters.
  15. Damn solid, that's some solid work!!! I can't rep you enough!!! I'll try again as soon as the system allows me to
  16. Yeah, its really strange. By just rubbing the ID cable with the 330w ID cable it works.... I'm not familiar with electronics at all but the ID chip seems like a closed circuit not interacting with the PSU's circuit at all so I really don't understand why the simple swap of the chips isn't working.
  17. After Whap-a-Chows post on swapping the ID chips I thought that was a no go but then how is it possible that this "hotwire" method used here works?
  18. Just came across this. The dude remove the ID chip and connected it directly to the mobo on a Dell laptop and it seems to work with any adapter. The article is old though (2009) so there may have been changes since then.
  19. I'm glad you like it Sam Congrats on your first post!
  20. Also have the Alienware Orion Backpack although the airport guys here don't give a crap that its "Checkpoint Friendly"... I still have to lug this beautiful monstrosity out These are the very same people that wave the metal detector wand all over you and still ask after they're done, "Any weapons?" Edit: On the card attached to the bag when I bought it, it said its able to fit TWO laptops. So that will give you an idea on the size of the bag.
  21. Mines. Dock on the top for apps and right for games. The games dock is normally hidden off-screen.
  22. Welcome SmaShT You need a minimum of 5 posts to download from T|I
  23. Yeah that was my suspicion as well. Hope you resolve your issues soon man. I cant be easy knowing the potential of what you've got and being unable to use it properly.
  24. I think these drivers did a number on my 5870's. Finished ME2 and ME3 with maybe one lockup->blackscreen after reverting to 12.6. I thought everything was running okay, even ran a couple of 3Dmark11 benches for a quick stability check. Today I installed Crysis 2 to refresh my memory on the cards performance (trying to judge how bad a knock Crysis 3 is going to be).... and black screens again :-| Tried the whole uninstall, clean, reinstall of 12.6 but still no dice. Primary at peak was around 79C and secondary 77C which is nowhere near the limit, so I don't know. Flashed back to stock BIOS with no OC/volt increase on both cards and everything seems stable now. Do you guys think the 12.8's pushed the cards a little too hard and possibly reduced what it could normally handle?
