1. Need moar vertical depth! I love 16:10 screens, it's one of the reasons I moved from a 27" to a 30". I find the extra "length" to be hugely useful.
2. LOL the censored one actually looks hotter because you can't see anything.
3. I'd be better at it. Plus there would be bongs involved (hmmmm, air bong made working with the force.... interesting).
4. Just realised I can't actually play (North America only). Do I remove myself from the list somehow? I could put $10 to a 16 man server, it makes far more sense than 64 player at this stage.
5. I've been hearing a few things about ASUS boards recently that make me nervous, was thinking of going with them next build just for a change, not so sure now. EVGA SR-X keeps appearing in my dreams. Nice build Brian - Neat, powerful and compact. Should keep him happy, and if it does start struggling in twelve months it won't be hard to find another 560 and SLI that bad boy.
6. EDIT: It is a really nice case, weighs a ton though (one of my friends has one). And it's L-O-N-G.
7. Expensive SSD & case, I would probably drop the spec on non essentials a tad and go for dual 7970s (if building it now) and a 2600k (to dominate benchmarks). But that's just me, fine system you specced there.
8. Agreed on the warranty, though I have to say laptops seem much more in need of it than desktops. I think the solution is clear - work, save pennies, emulate Jimbo and buy both. :D
9. This is true, but outlet systems are second hand yeah? 2k here would buy this rig (I know because I'm helping sell it ) - 800D 2600k in Maximus IV Extreme XSPC RASA 360 watercooling on CPU Dual 3gb 580s 16gb 2133mhz RAM 120gb Vertex 3 1tb Caviar black Asus 27" My 18X was over 3k new with base CPU and RAM, no SSD etc. I still say desktops are the price/performance kings, but portability is of course not their forte.
10. Hey Conkers, Thought you might find this interesting, Dutch guy is making a custom full cover waterblock for the MARS II. All Pictures | L3p Build Log (whole system) - Project : L3p L4n No idea if they're for sale, but it's probably worth checking. :D
11. Nice build Brian, I would definitely try to get the 448 core version as benchmarks in general seem to justify the price. It's also worth checking into 6970s as the 7970 has flooded the market with people trying to get rid of multiple 6xxx cards. Friend of mine picked up dual 6970s for $425.
12. That's a cool idea. I was like "No way will there be any near me"
13. Tickets are the things that count down when you kill an enemy or control more than half the points in conquest. 1 kill = 1 ticket. Though the best way to win conquest is flag capping.
14. Logitech FTW, I've had a G9 for the last 3 years, still the best mouse I've ever used. Bought a deathadder black to try and it's so finicky, has to be plugged/unplugged multiple times, doesn't work at all in random systems, and the shape is horrible (for me, that's just preference), but then they put slick plastic on the sides so the damn thing is almost impossible to pick up and move. G300 is a great mouse, if it fits your hand you'll get years of service.
15. Lifetime ban = Badge of Honour. Welcome.
16. I feel your pain, my rig was down for a month or so recently. I would get on their case as it's a top of the line board, you have two of their mars IIs etc, just demand a replacement instead of a 6 week wait. Worth a try. EDIT: What is the HX850 powering? Decided a 1500w just wasn't enough?
17. Awesome! I would suggest more seperation between the two metro maps, and maybe even add a rush on a different map, one of the karkand ones perhaps?
18. Seine crossing sounds good. I way prefer conquest, especially on large maps with aircraft since I figured out how to fly.
19. If you have easy access and don't need it to move you could use one of the universal GPU versions (it'll be too big, but much cheaper). The designing of water channels is much harder than it looks, modified off the shelf would at least get you good blocks to start (without massive expense). EDIT: If you want to throw around ideas for desktops I'm your man. (@svl7 too). EDITEDIT: LULZ, just realised the block you linked is exactly what I was talking about. Great minds think alike.
20. LOL Some scanning of memory indicates it may be some kind of general hand on a farm, but I think it's spelt jackaroo here. I'm sure they'd love the brownies though. Brian K. That Outback steakhouse thing you asked me about is in AUS, but only in one state (not mine). Outback Steakhouse -- Australia
21. Looks good! I'm Aussie, but WTF is a Jack-A-Roo???
22. I think this is a cool idea, but I have to ask the obvious (to me) question. It's likely to cost a stack of cash to do this, for arguably not much gain (When I watercooled my 580 desktop cards I only got another 30-40mhz). Why not build a watercooled desktop if you've got the budget and space at home for this kind of setup?
