y510p: Stupid n00b Question that i'd love to have answered
unreal3000 replied to bonzobv's topic in Lenovo
My personal "short cut " method is flip the laptop on its side when running and blow hard into the vent near the video ports.. i see a whole smog of dust blow out from the cloth vents at the bottom.. infact i keep my y510p on its side with vent facing up and use a monitor and mouse and keyboard for gaming.. i get a full 20C decrease in temp.. though i agree its a rough method and am not sure how harmful it is.. i dont have sli.. -
If i may ask, why does this happen? is it a safety feature for heat issues?

You will need one specifically for the y510p ultrabay.. otherwise you will have problems..

Having random touchpad issues with my y510p.. seems like its dislodged and sinks in more than it should when i try to click..

Did you mod the mesh of the laptop's fans too?

Lenovo Y410p Graphics Card Replacement and Overclocking
unreal3000 replied to Meeptopia's topic in Lenovo
You technically can install any (even a desktop graphics) on a laptop. But it will have to be attached by a ribbon cable and hang outside the laptop and will need its own power supply. Basically defeating the point of a portable laptop. For laptops it is referred as installing an egpu. Also you cannot replace or remove the graphics processor that is already inside the laptop. -
You can just use MSI afterburner and should be able to overclock the core about 130MHz over stock.. and even more with a modded bios.
