I have a bad habbit of testing out any software I come across online, I like to know what features I might like and always looking for good free software.

VLC player can put any video to desktop, not sure about resource usage but its a real easy to do.

You could also have an epic win and save the whole tournament with a single kill. Me personally I hope I get used to all this new hardware and the game when it comes to crunch time.

OK started the thread for the team, we can all put messages here about practice, schedules, getting all the software and settings we need etc here. please limit talk to just thing about this tournament so its easy to read and follow. I have read 90% of the rules for this tournament and see I need to practice and learn some maps. I also would like to put out there right off the bat I suck at flying so any possible maps with flight don't ask me to fly. Really didn't give much thought into starting this thread so ....... Here is the now very skinny me up on a boulder during a hike, plan to do a lot more out door stuff as the weather warms up.

I use Adobe, Bryce, Convert X DVD (for videos I shoot) some DVD rip app so I can store digital copies when on the road, I do tons more then just game and push thing this very hard.

If the config you want is 1850 you should be able to knock it down. I was able to knock almost 300 of the online price when I got talking to them on the phone and then they knocked off another 100 when they thought the ship date was messed up for Christmas, say its for a birthday deadline might get you overnight shipping free, I have heard it works and I guess it did for me even though I honestly wasn't trying for that. When do they release info on the new models? Prices on the current line might lower around the same time or a sale. I caught a nice sale on RAM and 20% off my video card so if you not in a hurry watch for these things or others here might have ideas on release info as I am fairly new to the alien ownership.

If you game then I would go with the video card. I have the 2670 CPU and am totally fine with it. There is also the depot department of dell that sells refurb m17x.

Computer companies need to start investing more money in battery advancement instead of CPU or graphics. Its sad that our high end systems can't play games or some times even boot on the current batteries. I would give up a second hard drive and DVD burner to have more battery if it meant I could play BF3 for 2-3 hours unplugged.

was wondering if anyone would know why my CPU doesn't come close to the reported 3.1GHz turbo when pushed and maxes out at 2.8GHz? Seemed a little strange that all the vantage benchmarks and GPU-Z etc all say max is 2.8 when it should be at least 3.0. Is there something in the BIOS that I might have set wrong? would love to get a faster CPU just can't afford it and really want the advertised speeds I should get out of the one I do have.

Well I got to screwing around with OCing my GPU, CPU is stock and not really happy about the turbo thing not going as high as they say but that's another thing. Well I hope you can read everything in the image. but my score was a nice P15957 Vantage

I had the m17x bag packed with my laptop and 3 days worth of glothes and it helded up fine. I have read about issues but so far I have not seen any and I am not the type to treat things with kid gloves as the saying goes.

granted I liked having the best and semi fastest laptop avail. but I won't upgrade until this sucker dies or can't handle the software any more. I still have upgrade room as is and might just have fun doing that over the next year or two. really can't wait to get a SSD drive and see what that can do for me.

1. you can use the 580m on battery but I am 90% sure it will throttle it or reduce the gaming ability so that gaming really wouldn't be a lot of fun. This can also depend on what games your playing or what apps your using also. There are people on here that do know more about graphic switching then I. 2. ram chips and which are the best can be a personal choice. I prefer Corsair Vengeance myself and they work great in my M17x R3. Great thing about the M17 is it allows up to 4 sticks so there is a lot of room to expand to what you need or want.

I read an article some place that compared 17 different pastes and this was included and they really liked it. I was thinking about getting some myself but since i don't OC and the temps are pretty good I am not in a rush to do it.

Me and Wifey are going to "hide" one and put whats called a travel bug in it so people can take it and put it other places. It will have its own web page and everything so it can be tracked. in the searching area theres a link to a beta google maps with all the caches on it, when you look at the whole world its covered about 80% I would guess. The US is totally covered. Thinking maybe this weekend might try and find a few to get better ideas on where to hide ours. So anyone else going to try this? I know once in a while we will try and find ones that are not near our home when we go on trips like to D.C. this summer.

Geocaching - The Official Global GPS Cache Hunt Site they have caches all over the world! Its a lot of fun for the family too. They vary in size and whats inside them. some are even more like a hunt as they will have many in a small area and you need to find them all to complete the hunt. it can be a lot of fun and gets you to places you never thought of going before.

Geocaching is where you put coridates into a GPS and then find a cache that can have prizes or just a log book that you found it. Most are placed in interesting places like the photos below. This is in Pawtuckaway State Park in Notingham NH. All Photos were taken around the site where the cache was hidden. Anyone else do this? photos taken with a 3.2mp phone camera.

If I had these types of issues I would be driving to Miami FL headquarters for Alienware and taking it to there door. Many years ago I ordered an alien and the FedEx guy came to my door and said your sending this back, inside the box you could hear parts rattle around. Turns out FedEx damaged it and I got my money back only after my friend said he was my lawyer. Hope you get your system back or your money. Sad they can't uphold their own warranty.

why in the world did anyone cheer for that? WOW and I thought I couldn't sing he makes me sound like well anything better. I have heard dying animals that sounded better.

I am guessing to get into the 17k range I would have to overclock? granted I am at 14.5K but woudn't mind seeing a little more but then again my lower end CPU could play a role in that too.

well only had it for a few hours but love the feel and the extra buttons are so great. wish it was wireless but otherwise really like this thing. have not gamed really yet but have a BF3 profile setup and a web setup and its really cool. my plantronics game headset and now a gaming mouse and a gaming laptop I should be all set. Can't wait to test this mouse out with photoshop might be able to get some art work done finally.

I still have my R3 and won't be getting rid of it any time soon. I too have issues with getting the AMD drivers in right. I am using the 8.93 drivers right now and they work good in BF3 so I have not tried to do anything else. I would look to upgrade to the newest and will have to look into those moded drivers boobs is talkin about.
