  1. Likely nothing? I'm not sure they have a response other than those photos that linked of a single gpu with similar liquid cooling design to the R9 295x2. A single 28nm monster die that needs liquid cooling? I hope the mobile versions are priced somewhat competitively.
  2. You might need to flash a compatible vBIOS (i.e. Dell). A power drain consists of removing the battery and unplugging the power cable then pressing and holding down the power button for 30 seconds. You can also remove the CMOS battery socket for to reset the BIOS. I'm sure @svl7 can advise you better but I think there is a thread in the forum abuot the 8970M and possibly a vBIOS to download.
  3. Is there a thread here on T I called M15x throttle fix? Only svl7 has managed to not get gpu throttling on M15x without the removing the centre pin to my knowledge. We are of course talking about if you want to overclock a 920/940XM processor and overclock the GPU. If you intend to run your 720QM you should not run in to any gpu throttling. EDIT: CPU throttling not a problem in M15x.
  4. If there was a way to unlock cores of QM processors, @unclewebb - creator of Throttlestop, would have found it. Good luck though.
  5. I want good enjoyable gameplay like Max Payne 3, and a good storyline like Deus Ex: HR or BioShock Infinite. I'm currently on Batman: Arkham Asylum. I'll gibe system shock and LA Noire a shot. Always meant to play them both. Thanks Sent from my One S running Kitkat
  6. So what if its an old thread! I still needz them recommendations! I've just finished playing State of Decay, great fun but could have done with a bit more coherent central storyline. Also picked up Witcher 2 with redkit mod and combat rebalance in steam sale. Finally picked up Fallout New Vegas in another deal. Its nice that I can play new vegas on max settings and it doesn't even cause my fans to spool up Bit sad to hear Thief is a bit lackluster.
  7. Ah sorry I didn't realise you have a 720QM processor. Throttling of the GPU occurs when your CPU draws excessive amounts of power. This rarely happens on any i7 CPU other than the extreme ones. When you try to overclock the i7 920/940xm then throttling is a real pain. Seeing as how you don't have an extreme processor you shouldn't have too many problems with throttling so I wouldn't worry about removing the centre pin. Fire up gpu-z, leave it running in the background then after gaming see if you notice any dips in the 850Mhz 3d clock speeds (suggesting throttling). If not then all is good
  8. Do you still have the original 150W adapter? These must be cheaper and you could buy one just for charging the battery. I believe also the lower power 80W PSU from the inspiron or whatever has the same fitting and might charge the battery but no one has tested that. I know svl7 has managed to get some very impressive benchmark scores with a 7970m without removing the centre pin but I have no idea how he managed them. For us lowly humans removing the centre pin is the only option.
  9. You should monitor your gpu temps. If you have a dell 7970m, that card loves shutting down when it gets too hot. You might want to try undervolting it. You can easily run stock clocks at 0.975v. Sent from my One S using Tapatalk
  10. You should keep a PSU for charging the battery. Try to ensure your 150w PSU can charge the battery, perhaps try to fiddle with it a bit. Could be a loose connection somewhere. I'm referring to the pin in the jack that plugs into the laptop, not the plug. The pin removal process involves using some thin nose pliers and wiggling the pin till it snaps. You might still get throttling but just toggle stealth mode and you'll get full 3d clocks again. My 210W PSU does the job perfectly with plenty of headroom for overclocking. 150W might be a bit limiting to how high you can push it.
  11. Pull the centre pin out of your PSU and say goodbye to throttling. It will no longer charge the battery however so it is advisable to get a new 210w or 240w PSU to use for gaming and keep 150w for travelling And charging battery. Sent from my One S using Tapatalk
  12. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Unrelated but where did you purchase the IPS screen upgrade for your M15x?
  13. Depends how the implement travel. Fast travel or you have to travel everywhere in real time. Hearing how large the world is, fast travel is a must. Sent from my One S running 4.4.2
  14. How did you run x29 multiplier? That wasn't across 4 cores was it? Is that with over volt mod? Very impressive graphics score. Sent from my One S running 4.4.2
  15. Does anyone use redkit for witcher 2? I'm trying to install the combat rebalance on steam version withot much success Sent from my One S running 4.4.2
  16. Hi Guys, Recently started playing State of Decay. This game seems pretty darn huge and a bit unconventional in as far as most of your "survivors" can die permanently with the game not officially ending till they are all dead! I've only logged about an hour on the game so far, and I'm set up nicely in the Church but I've already encountered a few weird things like my "main character" Marcus going missing after briefly switching character in home base. I also can't find some players to invite them to come along with me (Maya for example because I need to her come visit the army guys). If anyone else is playing this game I'd appreciate some starting tips (from actual players not review writers) and maybe some discussion of fun things to do. I've still not managed to successfully molotov an infested house.
  17. Does the R3 have two HDD spaces? If so you should be absolutely fine to stick it in there. Do you plan on cloning your HD and copying it onto SSD (including OS)? Then you'd just need to set boot priority to boot from SSD. If you don't have a spare HDD space you can do what I did, which is use a caddy that fits in the optical (DVD/BR) drive and houses a 2.5" drive. That worked extremely well for me as who uses DVDs anymore anyway 120GB SSDs are pretty cheap and that should be plenty for your OS and some games but any films/music/pictures I suggest you put on your second drive.
  18. Definitely 1333Mhz CAS 9 or CL9. If you can get CL7 that is even better (should be equivalent to another multiplier on the cpu) but its usually very expensive or hard to find. I've heard different things about getting 1600Mhz CAS 9 RAM whether or not it runs at lower CAS due to downclocking to 1333Mhz. Hopefully someone here knows more about that.
  19. Workable in which sense? For playing brand new games at high settings? You'll need a 920/940xm processor and overclock it to 3Ghz+. New titles seem seriously CPU heavy (obviously not all of them like Tomb Raider). Its very obvious when I start a game and realise I haven't opened throttlestop to set my overclock in effect. If it's just casual gaming then the 740QM will do just fine. That CPU will bottleneck the 7970M in some games for sure though, just depends how important post-processing and top detail settings are to you in games.
  20. Dell cards are on blue PCB (circuit boards). Think clevo cards are on green. You'll probably need a CPU upgrade too otherwise your current CPU may bottleneck 7970m. You may want to read up undervolting 7970m to lower temps. Also invest in some decent thermal paste such as ICD7. Sent from my One S running 4.4.2
  21. Can't believe you got 10k graphics score in M15x. Did you tweak voltage at all?
  22. @MHPALA which IPS screen fits in m15x and where can your purchase it? Thanks Sent from my One S running 4.4.2
  23. Haven't played dark souls yet but I hear its ridiculously difficult. I actually decided to replay my favourite game ever: dragon age origins. Simply brilliant. How did they go so wrong with the second one? Sent from my One S running 4.4.2
