  2. I didn't think anyone was projecting huge gains from Ivy? Maybe 5-10% gain at lower TDP, with the IGPU getting a big boost. EDIT: I would also say wait at this point, those are very worthwhile gains.

  3. You ever wonder what strange concepts we will use in the future. I know ipad seems to just make sense now but 20 years ago we all thought we'd still be tethered to a desktop setup. These articles show some interesting concepts on what computers could be in 2019. I think we are in for more of the same. We see ipod, Iphone, Ipad and we will see more answers from Apple to out technological needs. 4. You just need to hold the END key until you plugged in the power cable and the laptop starts. Try clearing the CMOS memory before attempting the recovery. Sometimes if a flash doesn't complete properly it appears to be bricked but clearing can bring the cmos brings the system back to its normal state. So I recommend you first clear the CMOS (take out the battery & ac adapter, then do a power drain by pressing and holding down the power button for about 10-20 seconds and then remove the cmos battery for a couple of minutes), then try booting the system. If it still doesn't work try the recovery. Let me know whether it works.

  5. Just go to BBB website and search for Dell. Pick the one with the round rock address and fill out your complaint in detail. That should get you a reply within 48 hours. At that point push for a refund or factory replacement. Dell needs to stop screwing with their customers. If a laptop needs so many repairs, then replace it. Samsung and others are coming put with very nice alternatives and Dells market share keeps shrinking. Won't be surprised if they end up ditching their notebook division in the future as a spinoff company. Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk

  6. You will not be able to put an extreme processor in it. The only desktop extreme processor of the current generation is the 3960X and it needs a X79 board. The X51 is a Z68 board. Plus the PSU will no where support it. It has enough trouble keeping up with a normal i7 2600 and 560 Ti. An i7 2600 is plenty. It is not overclockable because it doesn't have the K suffix meaning that it isn't unlocked. I say you leave everything as it is, maybe if you can, get some fast 1.35v ram. Then wait for the new Kepler cards to come out. You may see greater than GTX 580 performance within the 560 power envelope with the newer cards.

  7. you have the advanced on site warranty right ? if so you should not agree to send it to them and push for a replacement. Just like with brian and mw86, that probably won't get you anywhere unless BBB is involved.
