  1. okay so i pose question to advanced users here can the OP benefit from a modded vbios that has whatever power profile that is set when it starts on battery can that be edited and flashed to force a slightly higher speed but not as high as AC speeds as Adam Noble mentioned... Its a good idea Adam... Seems if its just a small increase the draw should stay low enough but wont get near stock 3d clocks. Id be interested in using such a vbios So OP says .80v On battery .87v on AC what are clocks like on battery. If clocks can be raised on the .80v then thats best bet but if needed maybe that profile needs to be set to something like .83v

  2. That sucks...can you modify the case so it will fit properly? A friend had a problem with the graphicscard heatpipes, they were too high, he solved it with cutting the plate, which was in the middle of the case. Did you use the "HD Audio" Connector or the "AC'97" Connector? Can't see it on the picture. The connector on the motherboard seems to be connected as it should be. Did you check the connections on the frontpanel? Did you install the RealtekDriver and the SoundBlaster X-Fi? Asus Support site I use: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Directlink to newest Realtek audio driver: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download Audio (watch the version, they're always messed up) SB X-Fi driver (under Utilities): ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download Maximus IV GENE-Z/GEN3 LucidVirtu: lucidlogix with GPU Solution

  3. I don't think OP wants to push the card to AC speeds but more or less be able to slightly increase the output of the card to increase game performance, i have seen that the card performs pretty well while running on battery but a slight boost would make it capable of doing so much more!

  5. I'd try gigabyte this time. I got the same feeling as you have about Asus. Gigabyte never disappointed me so far. Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk

  7. Like mw86 said, this is dangerous for the battery and I would not recommend doing it. Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk

  8. throttle stop can force the cpu to not throttle and its confirmed to work. Can speak of the gpu... I utilized Throttle Stops log function in M18x throttle thread under Throttlestop's threads. Under the log using overly high overclock and intel burn test on battery i saw a peak of atleast 150-170 watts and for too ling at the later it would shutdown. Dont play with fire this is dangerous if your force to high of a power draw be within reason using throttle stop on battery. Lithium batteries overly stressed can explode take this as a clear warning you can be seriously injured by a lithium battery pack explosion... I read about old Mac Books had a flaw a virus could cause the batteries to explode...

  9. Changelog for next BF3 Patch: (Release: 14.02.2012) - Support for Intel's new Ivy Bridge product line (as yet unreleased) - Fixes for two reproducible client crashes: - Oilfields- Conquest Large - Fixed a client crash when users spawn in certain vehicles. - Canals - Rush - Fixed a client crash at the 2nd set of mcoms if the player drives a vehicle into the vicinity of the exploding rocket battery. - AMD Radeon 7xxx series performance improvements I haven't found any news about the DLC, which should be announced last week...probably the patch contains more than only these fixes...

  10. The battery just can't provide a 100W GPU, 40W CPU, etc, with that much power... therefore the GPU and CPU downclocks itself. Of course it will run on battery, but not on full clocks. Review Alienware M17x R3 GTX 580M i7-2820QM Notebook - Notebookcheck.net Reviews Go to battery life and read.

  11. this is first 2900XM series i have seen capable of wprime over 5ghz 8thread @Conker @Jimbo Its not your 3secs 32m Conkers lol or your 149sec 1024m but its not as far as it once was feels good being under 10 secs of your 1024m Jimbo being the cooling you have and the laptop i have AC or not lol cheers Edit: 2/14/2012 i found out i was throttling towards the end of the test the next post is at 4.95ghz running optimally no drop so i believe 5ghz would be ever so close to Jimbo's 149secs
