  2. Ok guys, got the CPU in my M18x - so far so good. I can see the multipliers in the BIOS! Will mess with it a bit later on, gotta run. BTW, temps are well within norm.

  3. I remember a while back when I was looking at the Envy 14, there were no blu-ray drive options because it used a slot load 9.5mm drive like the M14x. Here's one that possibly might work: | HP Envy 14 Series slot BD ROM Blu ray Combo Drive I emailed them to make sure they are in stock, waiting to hear back. If anyone is looking for a BD-ROM drive for their M14x and give this a try can you report back if it works or not? Thanks.

  4. I just installed Worms Reloaded since they were on 75% sale on Steam (got them for less than $5) and I am a huge fan (especially Worms Armageddon) of the game... the sale ends in a few hours I think...

  6. Can you be more specific? Is it the CPU, the GPU? Which game, how do you monitor temperatures, etc...

  8. It's official, the card can now be preordered - ETA 25th of July! MAP price = 59.99$ Even though Fortnax is one of the first in line to get these cards, the initial supplies will be very limited, so it's FIFO and max 2 per customer. The card can now be preordered here.

  9. That's a cop-out IMO. During summer here it's 40c+ and not everybody has A/C, or even fans. I'm not saying I expect it to run at 65c all the time, but if other products (like cars) are tested for multiple climates & conditions, then why not laptops?

  10. Ok, since it seems that there's no method to read out the voltage with software I decided to measure it directly at the CPU. The datasheet of the CPU describes each pin, there are VCC (processor core power supply) and VSS (processor ground) pins directly at the edge of the socket, which makes it easy to measure the voltage. VCC_sense and VSS_sense would've been possible as well, but they're not at the edge of the socket, which makes it more difficult to put cables there without accidentally touching another pin and shorting something. I was mainly interested at the voltage while the CPU works at the max multi (26x) on all threads. My multimeter always reported 1152mV. There's of course a certain inaccuracy while measuring this, especially since I don't have the most expensive equipment, but it's accurate enough for my needs. This value will allow me to figure out a VID pinmod for raising the voltage a little bit. At idle the CPU was at about 900mV. In case you're interested in the voltage at a certain multi, let me know as long as I still have the cables in the socket. Though after reading some Intel datasheets it seems that the voltages may vary from CPU to CPU, I'm not quite sure about this, maybe someone here knows more about this.

  12. flash it now from DOS with the original VBIOS and you good to go! the programmers sometimes messing with the addresses. Example atiflash start writing from a specific adress to a specific adress. Dont worry if you flash it it will work. Good job. and congrat.

  13. Yeah trust me, no game is worth your time more than your studying.... You will have time for that once you are done

  14. That's a load of crap, I can't believe the incompetence of those support reps. You dont need the premium version to backup and restore with alien respawn. I backed up my m17x-r3 image a month ago no problem.
