detonator_x
laptop is supposed to have great sound according to specs and reviews but I find it to be as bad as my old t60p. I can barely hear anything at 100%anyway to boost the sound?
koichichu
check all your drivers and settings. also check volumes for whatever programs you are using. sometimes videos ect have a lower volume, if its a universal problem with all apps/games ect then i'd assume its a hardware issue. assuming the drivers and settings are all normal. i know that mine has a pretty good volume compared to my aspire and asus ultrabook. as well as my wife's toshiba satillite. considering the problems i've seen people with in this forum with this model i wouldn't rule out faulty parts
Proxyep
actually your low volume could be due to other factors, chiefly output impedance. If you are using a pair of 600ohm beyerdynamics you couldn't reasonably expect any non dedicated amplifier to drive that.Do you know the impedance rating of your output device? or are you simply referring to the onboard speakers? bigboss
its definitely the drivers, when I upgraded to 8.1 the speakers output volume was poor at least my s4 sounded louder than the y510p, updated to the latest drivers in lenovo's website and they sound like a beast right now
Uberperson
if it is similar to the Y500, make sure you have the little dolby home theater icon in the bottom right corner set to "On". I have found the only thing it does is boost how loud the speakers are.
corseth
Upgrading to 8.1 and making sure the audio drivers are up to date. My JBL speakers are absolutely booming. This laptop has been amazing (Y510P)
davidvh86
yea i agree with the last poster these speakers are loud check out the drivers, download them directly from realtek.
detonator_x
hmm no dolby icon on mine, but then again I did a fresh install of win 8.1. I will try drivers from Lenovo first then
mapsajm
I have to confirm - you need to turn the dolby home theatre option on. Had the same issue after 8.1 upgrade.
daanyaaln
Yeah you might have a driver/hardware issue. My speakers are insanely loud, especially when compared to my old t520p lol,
