Naked Asus MarsII

It's done.:peaceful: Here's the result, two Asus MarsII cards with removed IHSs.:P:triumphant:

The first time I did this, the process went smoothly. The heating of the IHSs using a hot air gun, has delivered great benefits.:glee:

Those GF110s still have all their resistors! Nice job!

Now the next step is to find some titans off ebay and solder them in so you have the world's first dual titan card. Both have 384bit memory so it HAS to work!

Hehe if you show that it works, two Titans are in my possession:tyrannosaurus:

Wasn't it the goal that all parts are still there?:playful: To be honest, without heating the IHSs up to 95-100°C, it would probably be very difficult to complete this process without causing damage, because very little space is available.

Now that it's done, of course, the action has paid off, especially in relation to the design of the water cooler.:excitement:

Are you going to mount some water blocks on those naked chips?

This is exactly what I'll do :joyous: I'm working on the design of the watercooler, it will be about 300g lighter than the previous models, this is already apparent.:Banane54:

Be very careful not to crush the die...I hear it's very easy to do.

I hope that everything remains intact. :04:

do u know this cooler?

GPU Universal - Watercool Shop

Yes, I know this cooler from Watercool, it's a more or less cheap opportunity to upgrade a card, but keep in mind you have to cool other components as well --> fans still needed. :friendly_wink:

What do you mean?

Watercoolers for my naked Asus MarsIIs? Look here;)

Oh. We call those water blocks. :D

And a water cooler is something that cools the water.... Like a water chiller.

My bad. :D

      Hi,
I have an old Dell Alienware M17R3 (2011 built, “new”A12 Bios). Back in 2014 my GTX580M broke, so I decided to put in a GTX680M, which lasted till recently. Now I’m stuck again with 8 beeps and the LCD not turning on. When I remove the card and switch the laptop on, the LCD at least turns on, so I guess it’s a faulty GTX680M. Now...back then people suggested not to go for a GTX580M due to bad thermal values, but as I’m not really using the Laptop for gaming anymore, wouldn’t a GTX480M possibly be a better alternative that lasts even longer? I heard that GTX700M’s could fit in as well, but people reported non fixable sound issues plus thermal issues. Any ideas?
