  1. I have some good contacts, should be nice and convenient for you also except you would have to import it into the US and I'm ten thousand miles away. Here is the best google can do for your "nice drive"
  2. Thanks for the info, I've always been a closet fan of the M11X because of the price and portability. Any benchmarks incoming? As for overclocking the GPU, MSI afterburner is the gold standard IMO. Simple and effective with low overhead and some nice added features such as video capture.
  3. Just thought I'd mention they don't all have Samsung RAM as default, mine came with Hynix branded sticks. Never had a problem with them, and they're back in at the moment as the 8gb 1866mhz HyperX kit is in my X220 where it REALLY makes a difference (SC2 at high settings on integrated graphics!).

Wind is an issue even for bigger bikes, but the worst thing is the total ass blasting pain that comes at about hour 8-10 of a really decent ride.
  5. Fair enough, never heard it explained that fully. So if I'm understanding this they could be a little looser with the MXM standards and it would cease being a problem? I just feel like the CPU cooling is more inadequate than the GPU.
  6. I think Alienware actually overspecced the coolers on the GPUs, If you sacrificed say 10% of each GPU cooler and increased the capacity of the CPU cooler by 20% that would be a faster system overall.
  7. I'll believe that when I see it.... Must be some type of subzero cooling surely, that's double the core clock of the reference card.
  8. Epic beards are epic.
  9. Frame rates for BF3 basically the same as Skyrim???? That would take some hinky settings.
  10. Love the idea. "These clocks could not be run on standard air cooling" Except we know better.
  11. Seriously, Judge Judy? She's out of her fucking skull on a power trip, one of my least favourite people. Plus, I think that stuff has no business being televised, but maybe that's just me.
  12. You can run a quad socket AMD opteron board with 16 core CPUs if your application multithreads that much (64 threads!!!!). ~$5k in a lowish power envelope (500-600w), could be worth thinking about. It won't have the same low thread performance as the intels and maybe there are reasons you're not thinking of this route, just thought I'd mention it.
  13. Signed up for another imageshack account, uploading 1711 images as we speak. Get em fast, they'll probably get deleted fairly quickly. *Link to come *Click till you can't click no more, Ah la-la la-la lom etc... ImageShack® - Online Photo and Video Hosting
  14. I didn't think anyone was projecting huge gains from Ivy? Maybe 5-10% gain at lower TDP, with the IGPU getting a big boost. EDIT: I would also say wait at this point, those are very worthwhile gains.
  15. That annoys me so much! One of my lecturers at uni keeps asking everyone "How many gigs their GPU has" and seems to rate them on that. He really should know better! I'd like to see a 3gb 555m up against my 1.5gb GTX 580.
  16. 4yrs! It's only a two year course at this stage. I had my first run at uni 10 years ago, basically signed up and went to about three classes, surprisingly enough that didn't go well.
  17. Thanks guys. I'm keeping the M18X for LAN nights, or if I'm staying in the city for a few days I'll take it with me and use it as a semi-mobile DTR. I still love it, just can't carry it as much as I need to for uni (without hurting myself in the long run).
  18. It's a general IT degree, figured I may as well learn something formally. Started 3 weeks ago.
  19. Just ordered this for university, the M18X and brick are WAY too heavy to carry on the train every day, this should be much better. Lenovo X220 Intel Core i5-2520M Processor (2.50GHz, 3M Cache with Turbo Boost up to 3.20GHz) 12.5" Premium HD (1366x768) LED Backlit Display, IPS, Mobile Broadband Ready, 3x3 Antenna, No Camera Intel HD Graphics 3000 processor graphics with dynamic frequency 2 GB PC3-10600 DDR3 (1 DIMM) (I will upgrade to 4gb with the kit I took out of the alienware) Intel 160GB Solid State Drive, Serial ATA (Only takes 7mm hdds, they had a special on this and I CBF doing it myself) 9 Cell Li-Ion Battery + 6 cell "Slice" Battery (20hrs battery life using both!) Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 AGN Integrated Mobile Broadband (Ericsson F5521gw) with 21Mbps D/L
  20. If you can clock a 980x past 5ghz in an X7200 WITH PROOF then I will build an altar to you in my back yard and pray to it at least once a week.
  21. Are you saying you ran a 980X at 5.1ghz in an X7200? I know what that takes and while I respect the cooling abilities of the clevo, there's NO WAY that would be usable beyond getting a CPU-Z shot and even that I doubt. That would push most custom watercooling loops on desktops.
