  1. Oooooooohhhhh that Lian-Li is sexy! Not anywhere near the features though, including rad support. At this stage I'd say go the Xigmatek. Also, $300? It's only $179 here and AUS is usually pretty pricey. Where are you buying from?
  2. The Xigmatek Elysium is a great case for the SR-2, substantially cheaper than most other cases with HPTX support. Just ask Conkers.
  3. Good decision, I use one of those with my DT250s and it works perfectly.
  4. Mate, before any more hardware purchases at all, you need to budget for a better screen. It will make a HUGE difference over a 1440x900 (I'm assuming old) screen. You can pick up a 27" LED for less than $300, running your rig through some old CRT is borderline criminal.
  5. Not sure what to tell you, except that I think it's probably the GPU rather than the motherboard (hopefully). If you can get the cooler on the 6990 that would probably be the easiest way to check, otherwise you will have to wait for your friend. Are you planning on trying to run the 465 with the 6990?
  6. Hmm, that is very odd. There seems to be a couple of threads about the issue (The one at guru3d is you i think?), I'm not sure what else to suggest. It's possible that it's caused by using one CPU on the board, though I haven't heard of it before. Is it possible to try the GPU in a different PC?
  7. Not sure if this will help, but sometimes one card on my M18X seems to get stuck at low clocks while in game, firing up trixx and adding an OC (Even if it's like 5mhz) fixes it.
  8. Well, the first questions are: What is your overall budget? Where will you be buying the parts? Newegg is easiest for a quote if in the US.
  9. A quick google tells me that there are no 120mm cyan fans easily available, you would have to mod them yourself. Four low end GPUs won't work, only the top two/three of each generation are capable of more than dual SLI, also it tends to come with driver issues. What is your GPU budget? If you really want four cards in there working you will be looking at least 1.5k and that's buying second hand etc. It will also entail buying a socket X79 board, none of the sandy/ivy boards really supports that. Forget XTU it's irrelevant on desktops, you will do your overclocking in the BIOS. Really anything $150+ will be fine but look out for Gigabyte, ASUS, ASrock, MSI, EVGA (No real order). More money gets you more features (generally). Make sure to get a Z68 or Z77 chipset (Z77 has a narrow edge). BUY THE K VERSION OF THE CPU IF YOU INTEND TO OVERCLOCK - the unlocked multi is a must have. The power supply calculator is good, if you remember EVERYTHING. Don't pay for the advanced version. I can tell you for quad SLI you will be looking for 1200-1500w PSUs and even that may not be enough. Hope this helps, feel free to ask anything else you think of (or if I missed something). Good luck and gratz on the free case.
  10. Just wanted to ask, any update on this? I got skyrim today for $40.
  11. My understanding with ULPS is that it sometimes requires changes to the registry, TRIXX worked for me but I remember reading about people having to go further to solve BSOD woes.
  12. ^^^ So.... much..... win..... TIE fighter was the game that totally hooked me to PCs, I still mourn the loss of space combat sims. Why do all the Star Wars games now have to be FPS...
  13. I liked Crysis and Warhead. Witcher 2 just didn't excite me somehow.
  14. @Pursuit Probably an Express Card, I just ordered on for my lenovo. $12 shipped on ebay. EDIT: Express card Expresscard 34/54 to 2 x USB 3.0 Port Adapter (Fully Inside Laptop) | eBay
  15. R2 crossfire? Only if you don't need power to your CPU. M18X r1 would be awesome....
  16. 5200 plants, holy shit! Ditto on supply issues, hope I'm not affected.
  17. Thoughts - 1. Damn I wish the M18X could do that. 2. LOL at how many times you clicked the button for power saving GPU. 3. Have you tried using logitech SetPoint instead of this other software? Might allow you full functionality of your gaming mouse without killing the switching option.
  18. I have had similar "Why is my pc running so slowly!!" moments with F@H.
  19. Ok, well my standard much loved recommendation is the goliathus control edition. If that's too rough and you want a big area, the Xtrac Ripper XXL should be plenty big enough - XTracPads If that's TOO big, one of my friends uses the Roccat Taito in 45cm x 37cm, it has a similar super smooth finish. It is available in 3mm and 5mm thicknesses, the 3mm feels quite hard to the touch (though it is still padded). By the way, I believe the goliathus speed editions have that sort of smooth surface if you can check one out.
