  1. It's great, but ~5 seconds too long IMO. Nice work though!
  2. Crap. If I get this far and am stymied by warranty, somebody may get thrown off a cliff. Just to make me feel better, you understand. So if I call dell USA, they won't know I'm calling from AUS? I mean, the taxi company knows my address the instant they pick up...
  3. So as many of you know, I'll be buying an M18x in the near future. It will almost certainly be coming from the US, as the Aussie site - 1. STILL doesn't have it up. 2. Will almost certainly charge $4000+ for the base spec. I'm aware that the warranty can be transferred, but I need to know about the accidental damage cover, because I don't have a good record in this area. Can the accidental cover be transferred in the same way? I would be getting the 3 or 4 year "advanced service plan". Many thanks...
  4. Cheers man, good info. SO glad I didn't buy a G73 ~6 months ago when I started thinking about a gaming laptop.
  5. Seems logical, as having a 14" and a 15" is market crossover to the extreme. But I'd think there may well be a market for a pimped out 15" with as much GPU power as they can ram down its throat. Even if it ended up much thicker/heavier than the M14, at least it would separate the models.

    Firewire?

But at a certain point they have to drop connectors that not many people use... I know it's awful if you're one of those that does, but is this not, to a certain extent, just the price of progress?
  7. I have a vertex 2 and have used the rapid storage drivers with great success?
  8. Nvidia/ATI(AMD) is a long running argument with no answer. EDIT: In general terms, as competitors. However, in terms of the the M18X ATI are winning by miles. As for spec - definitely get the dual 6970M's. Neither of the ram upgrades are worth it. If you don't KNOW you need that much ram, then you don't. If you're comfortable adding ram yourself, buy the cheapest option. If not, look at ~8gb. Speed is not crucial, but if you can afford it may as well get the 1600mhz.
  9. Dagnammit! I don't want to wait much longer, but I will be using it at work for long periods of time on the native screen. Really, really hope it's not too bad when reviewers get their hands on it. Or that there's a replacement unit available. EDIT: Couldn't dell get an IPS panel built for it like they did with 17x r2? I would pay a bunch for an upgraded, high end screen. More worthy upgrade than wireless HD broadcasting or Blu-ray IMO.
  10. So are there any 18.4 screens that would be a worthy/possible replacement?
  11. Thanks man! I'm increasingly convinced to order my M18 in red...
  12. That's disappointing. I guess you (and other early adopters) will have to tell us what it's actually like to use
  13. I WISH! If they did, it would be exactly $1000 cheaper than the base spec M17X!!!!!!!
  14. Just imagine the reactions when you press it to your head....
  15. I paid $520 for my 120gb vertex 2 about 10 months ago, the same drive from the same store is now $239
  16. Install the latest intel RST drivers, I've found it makes quite a difference (7.0 WEI becomes 7.8).
  17. :Banane16: Now I just need HIDevolution to get their page up! Oh, and ~$4500
  18. So Nvidia while plugged in and Intel while unplugged? I thought that was how optimus was supposed to work
  19. Also been studying Judo & Karate since I was 9 (12 for Karate). I started preparing for the M18x early, nobody is going to jack my laptop!
  20. Cannot order... why... tease with evil video.... bastards..... mumble.....
  21. So did I untill a day or so ago.. It would be good if they could be combined on some level. Say 10 likes earns 1 rep etc.
