  1. So, since I had no more ideas so far to get the 470m working, I put the 6970m back and made sure every cable was plugged in correctly, especially the display connector. Still the same symptoms, no picture at all, not even the Asus logo. Pretty crazy... with the 470m I can go to the BIOS, boot DOS from a USB drive and use nvflash etc... it just doesn't boot Windows. But with the 6970m I don't have a picture at all, but it seems to boot Windows, it's driving me crazy!!!
  2. Yeah, but this will only manipulate the countdown of the error message (set it to 0) and disable the beeping... this is helpful when the system boots anyway, so you don't have to watch the 30 second warning everytime you boot. Damn, Asus, what did you do to this system? Why can't you apply to standards...
  3. Yeah, I did. What he changed is the adress that causes the system to make a beep sound during the error message... the card already worked on the system, but the beeping annoyed him, and since he couldn't find a way to deactivate the error message he at least disabled the beeping. So this won't help unfortunately.
  4. Modified vendor and subvendor ID in vbios and flashed, no change. Well, I didn't really expect it to work, but was worth a try I guess. Edit: I also just tried some rather unusual mods, changed Device ID etc. to the one of the Asus 460m, flashed successfully but still the same error and Windows won't boot... I have no idea how they restricted this system.
  5. Hey guys... I'm in modding mood, again, hahaha Got my hands on a Nvidia 470m and put it in a G73JW. Unfortunately Windows won't boot.... "Valid MXM structure not found". Does anyone of you have any idea about this? Every idea is greatly appreciated. Here's all the info of the card that nvflash gives me: Btw, I'll try the 6970m again later, maybe I messed up something last time... I mean it did boot with the 6970m...
  6. Thanks for the article! I really like the orange, it makes the system pretty unique, also the leather palm rest! But the specs aren't Lamborghini like at all... in addition to this the system is a real pain to disassemble and exchanging the CPU and so far there's no way to get a different GPU working in this system... unfortunately not worth the money at all.
  7. It's also nice if you for example sell your SSD after two years and can say it still has 3 years warranty left
  8. How to get a baby phone toy to curse:
  9. Excellent!! Look at that CPU score, very impressive for a 2720QM imo!! 16k total score is amazing!!
  10. Steam ID: acitnog But I'm located in the midst of Europe... just as "ping warning"
  11. I've just come across this article in the Intel newsroom, great news imo, seems I have now 5 years (!) warranty on my SSD Source: Intel newsroom
  12. There are a couple of very great gaming mice available, I really like the design of the R.A.T. cyborg, but I never used one... Here it is, completely customizable: I'm using this one, I really like the positions of the thumb buttons and it was a great deal, much cheaper than the RAT: I guess it really depends on where you like the buttons and also whether you like a big mouse or not... there's a gaming mouse for every need it seems.
  13. Cat tries to jump on the bed, still under the influence of a narcosis... Distance estimation fail
  14. Yeah, I was asking about a M15x mod a while ago... Same here, in case I see a M15x mod
  15. CoD Modern Warfare 3 reveal trailer is here: To be honest I really like MW2, especially the multiplayer... even though a lot of people are bitching about it. It is fast paced, I like the maps... it's (or was) fun to play. I'm curious how good this will be, I don't really like BO, except the zombie mode
  16. Yeah, I'm trying to spread the word... also in some other forums. Growing a community takes time, I guess it's easier to get fresh M18x/M17x r3 owners than convinving "old" M15x owners to come to a new place. I really like this forum, great people, cool atmosphere and a lot of knowledge even though it's still a pretty small community, that's awesome.
  17. Added instructions to get DP/HDMI audio working on the Sapphire card (flashing the Dell vbios on the card) to the second post. (Was a bit lazy, quoted the guide for making a bootable DOS drive from Brians 5870 flashing guide:D) Also attached a little GPU exchangement guide with pics to the first post. We still need M15x owners here....
  18. The GPU is integrated on the mobo, chances are that the vbios is part of the system bios. That's easier to implement for the manufacturer. They don't need a way to the load the vbios at startup and they don't need to use a separate ROM chip for the vbios. If this is the case changing anything at the vbios would need quite some bios disassembling skills. (And some balls to test it after modding...)
  19. Hehe, heat wasn't a problem during these runs... Check the temps in the second pic, lol. Thanks for all the advice! So far I haven't been successful with SetFSB, it seems I simply haven't enough patience Everytime I play around with it I get BSODs as soon as the CPU has a lot of work to do. I will try it again next time I do some benching. About the RAM voltage... I once tried to raise it in the vbios to the next higher setting (1.6V). The result was that the system got in an infinite boot-loop (turned on, alienhead, crash). I had to remove the BIOS battery and reset the BIOS to get it working again.
  20. You were right Stam! Here's a run with 850Mhz core and 1100MHz vram. Everything higher made the driver crash. Edit: And as bonus a 1024M wprime 1.55 Actually I wanted to see whether I get it working with setFSB, but I only got instant BSODs as soon as I started the test... so this is simply with 26x and 8 threads.
  21. Randy Rhoads was a fantastic guitarist! The best Ozzy albums are with him at the guitar, R.I.P.!
  22. Yeah, I did a vantage on 850MHz as well, but the GPU score was slightly lower... and since I was alerady benching for a while I decided to make a break. Maybe I'll try it again today.
  23. Nice one! Sooner or later you'll hit 2k (hopefully)
