  1. Can someone please post a copy of the 2.04 bios bin file. My y500 will not run the backup.bin. It says it is incompatible due to being a 32 bit program on a 64bit os if anyone has ideas.

    Y500 VS Y510p

I have a y500. Personally instead of getting a y510 I would recommend using the extra money leftover from y500 to get a 250gb ssd and a better wireless card(you need to flash bios for wirelss card). That would probably have a more tangible performance boost then just getting the y510. This is a important note to pay attention to. My y500 has sli 650ms 1gb vram. The 1gb vram is a major bottleneck in new triple A games. If you can get a laptop with 2gb or more of vram I would highly recommend it. A good choice would be a clevo/sager laptop which can be found here. rjtech.com
  3. This is awesome! Cool post dude, If I can I might get a 970 and try to do this with my lenovo y500.
  4. I would personally recommend looking at the clevo laptops. They have alot of customization options, especially if you get one from somewhere like rjtech.com. Lenovo Laptops I can say from experience are pretty good. However all lenovo laptops I have ever used have had a locked bios. This may or may not be relevant to you. As for the hp's sorry I don't have any experience with them so have no comment.
  5. Before this even continues. First question is your laptop plugged in to the charger? All laptops regardless of gaming or not go into power saving mode when running on laptop power. The battery of a y510 does not have the power to run sli 750s on its on. You need to have it plugged in to game at maximum performance. If you want to underclock your gpus because being plugged in still is not enough, you will have to flash the bios in order to underclock the gpus. As for the high temperatures the y510 along with other thin laptops like the new razer blade 14 are too thin to effectively dissipate the heat due to smaller coolers. The best you will be able to manage is likely getting a good laptop cooler and maybe adding diamond thermal paste onto your gpus and cpu.
  6. Like Egt said I highly recommend getting a ssd. I have a y500 very similar to y510. Boot times were a bit slow, so i installed a ssd into the laptop and now it purrs like a kitten. Keep a eye on newegg and you can find something like the 250gb msata 840 evo on sale for something like 80-100$ if you are willing to wait for a great deal.
  7. That is awesome! Unfortunately the nearest spot for me to get one is over 2 hours away.
  8. I have a lenovo y500. In order to boot into the bios there is a small button on the left side behind the charging port i have to push when the computer is off. My recommendation is to check both sides of your y510 while it is off to see if you can find this button. If you can find it when the computer boots it should give you a few options. Loading the bios should be one of them.
