  1. I'm thinking of flashing the 1.0v bios. My 7970m has a stock voltage of 1.050v. In some games the GPU doesn't seem to get full load(75-85% max) and I know its not a CPU bottleneck(around 50% max usage). Also when using throttlestop to enable the chipset clock mod to stop cpu throttling, the 7970m's clock drop to 450 instantly. Do you think its because of the voltage? And should my card be fine running at 1.0v at stock clocks?
  2. Its recommended so that you're not running your 150w power supply at its full peak constantly, which would cause it to fail early.
  3. Razer Mamba at 1400dpi on my desktop. I like it there because its not too fast and at the same time its perfect for multipurpose(gaming and everyday tasks). On my laptop I use a Dell mouse with a 125hz rate. The razer mouse makes the dell mouse look horrible. I was thinking of trying the new 2013 deathadder for the laptop.
  4. I don't think anyone can try that until December when they're released.
  5. The 2960XM is a sandy bridge gpu and will not work on the m15x. Best CPU upgrades would be a 920XM or 940XM processor. 920XM aren't too expensive on ebay. Both can be overclocked easily. As for GPU upgrade, best options are a 7970m or 680m. 7970m is more typically to upgrade to and is much cheaper than the 680m.
  6. You should be able to hook up one display directly to the vga port and one to the displayport while using the internal display for three total displays. I think it should work for AMD GPUs but not sure with nvidia.
  7. Stock are 24/23/17/17 , try those. Also, in Throttlestop, check "Chipset Clock Mod" and make sure its at 100%
  8. Just the graphics card, the M15X is pretty easy to upgrade. =]
  9. Just wanted to let everyone know that the 680MX will be coming to alienware it seems. I was on another forum and a member posted this: Don't know if its 100% true but we'll see soon enough. =]
  10. That suck's. Guess the 680M will stay as the king of notebook cards for now. Still, like I said the 8000 series should be coming in a few months and should provide a nice performance increase. The 700 series will most likely also increase performance so we should be able to get 680MX or better in a 780M hopefully.
  11. Well if we can't get a 680MX into a notebook, at least we still have the 8000 series. Rumor has it they will start releasing them in Jan 2013.
  12. Thanks, that's good to know. You order that same exact kit? Well then seems like I know which card I will upgrade to in the future. [unless of course the 7970m goes down in price] Also, either I'm blind but, how are the temps on the 660m under load?
  13. The 675MX is a kepler based card just like the 680M
  14. Ah, looking on ebay, would a copper shim like this work fine? Oh btw I messaged the seller. He said the card is shipped with the dell vbios.
  15. If one were to get a kit like this, would you still have to do the copper shim part?
  16. Think of it this way. A 675MX uses 100w. A 680M uses 100w. The 680M is faster/has more cores with the same 100w usage as the 675mx, so a 680mx should be able to work within a 100w range too if they improved he fabrication process.
  17. I'm pretty sure it should come to other oems as well sooner or later.
  18. It should be 10-15% faster. Surprised though that these cards are going into an iMac. Don't they use desktop processors still in them? If the 680m is 100w, wonder if this one will still be 100w or it will exceed 100w
  19. Looks like the 680M has something better than it coming out. I just accidently found out about this card while on the 675M nvidia page. Wonder if these cards will work with the M15X if they get out to sites like ebay. tech specs: GeForce GTX 680MX | Specifications | GeForce
  20. Thanks for the reply, I've sent an e-mail with all the requested information.
  21. I was running A05, kept getting blue screens, now I'm running A08.
  22. I don't think theres an aftermarket fan solution at all. I tried getting a replacement, but couldn't. Warranty expires in a week. Replacing the thermal paste for me didn't help too much, but maybe the application wasn't too good.
  23. Newer processor, newer graphics card, same service from alienware. the build is the same. I spent 1 1/2 hours on the phone today about a bsod issue i kept having, it took that long for them to finally say they'll replace the motherboard. I think the R2 should have less issues, but the R1 has served me well.
