  1. He is refering to the y510p from lenovo. I own one and its a great laptop. Lenovo support is mediocre at best. Sucks they whitelist wifi cards in the bios but a member of this forum developed a work around.
  2. If you actually need the graphics performance for school, then I would go with the y510p from lenovo. Its a 15.6 with a 1080p screen and dual 750m's totaling 4GB of GDDR5. If you dont need the gfx performace dont make the same mistake I did. It is FAR more convienient to have a small portable laptop for college with good battery life. Leave the gaming for a desktop. It may sound cool to fire up the laptop wherever you are at for a gaming session, but in all reality it sucks. Save money and get different machines tailored for each purpose.
  3. Hate is a bit of a strong word. I am also quite frustrated with the wifi whitelist and their website as well, but when you look at bang for the buck its hard to beat the y510p. I dont know much about your 580 so I dont know if I would be satisfied with the switch.
  4. I am also a y510p fanboy. Paid $800 for mine, i5 4200m, 6gb ram, 2x 750m with 2GB each of GDDR5. My cpu is upgradable but I dont have any issues at the moment. Its hard to beat that gaming performance for the price.
  5. I like my book bag because it can hold my cooling pad, mouse, mouse pad, power cord, and any other toys i decide to bring along. I still seem to be running low on space.
  6. I really like my Lenovo y510p. Its still heavy but its a 15.6 in 1080p screen with two 750m's in SLI. I wouldnt stack it against a 770 but the each card does come with 2GB of GDDR5 making it easy to play most games at a high resolution. Overall power, performance, and a sub $1000 price tag (got mine for $800) it is a killer deal. I think the current gen units ship with a 755m.
  7. When I ran into this problem at work, one guy had a special drill bit called an extractor. If you feel like investing I would go this route. You need to make sure the bit is small enough for the screw head. Your drill must be able to go very slow as well. Dont use some amped up power drill.
  8. My vote goes with a matte finish. I think glossy screens tend to have better color, but they are completely useless in a well lit environment and this enrages me.
  9. Do a clean install of your nvidia graphics driver and update all chipset drivers. There should be an option to disable optimus in the nvidia control panel as well.
