Hi. I have asked this before but I got no answer. Is there a gtx 970m vbios for the 3gb anywhere? The one on this thread seems to only be for the 6gb model hello. is the 3gb version for 970m up anywhere? thx

Maybe somebody already answered this but I cant find it. Is there a vbios for the gtx 970m 3gb? or do we only have one here for the 6gb version?

Just a heads up. I have an MSI GS60 Gtx 970m and I installed the new 347.09 Nvidia graphics driver for notebooks and it blocked me from ANY overclocking at all. I had to uninstall it and re-install 344.00 in order to overclock again.

Fix Alienware M14xr2 Throttling Issue IdeaStorm PLEASE Vote

So I finally got around to doing a repaste on my m14x r2. After slowly cleaning up the crap that Alienware calls paste I repasted the cpu and gpu. I ran all my regular benchmarks at on average 7 degrees celcius cooler for my gpu which obviously allowed the cpu to run cooler as well. So all-in-all I absolutely recommend repasting. Thx for the suggestion. -

I've been monitoring the CPU temp as the GPU approaches 67 degrees Celcius. The CPU temp increased to almost 85 degrees Celcius before the GPU was throttled down. Overclocking the GPU would almost certainly cause damage in the long run to the CPU as it approaches TJmax. After experimenting with almost every driver and overclocking I have come to the conclusion that the real problem with the M14X R2 is its cooling system period. Modding the bios etc...is all great but that would cause serioius damage, in my opinion, in the long run. This laptop is simply not designed to handle high temps continuously. Yes you can increase the fan speed...if you don't mind the noise. In a nutshell enjoy it for what its worth and next time, as will I, do your due diligence in researching a laptops ability to dissipate heat. -
After installing and removing countless NVidia drivers and working with MSI afterburner and Inspector I almost gave up completely and threw my Alienware M14x R2 out the window. I'm happy to say that with the installation of the new driver, 332.21 from NVidia I am seeing significant FPS increases in games such as AC4, Metro Last Light and Call of duty Ghosts. In fact for the first time since I bought this laptop I am actually happy with it. How is your experience been with the new driver? Any tips on maximizing performance would be greatly appreciated.

Maximum GT650M overclock without modded vBIOS? M14X R2
smirkndemon replied to Kurns's topic in Alienware M14x / AW 14
Hello, This exact same issue was bothering me. So I did as you did, installed the 307.17 alienware driver and my benchmarks were substantially better again. Now, that being said when I game my graphics card was being throttled super low...do you know what is happening? Do you suggest to upgrade my video graphics driver or should I keep with the 307.17... -
is alienware m14x worth buying or not?
smirkndemon replied to spr193's topic in Alienware M14x / AW 14
In my opinion I would recommend alienware for their build quality. My m14x r2 feels incredibly robust. However lets be honest here, they don't travel well due to their size and weight. In todays market you can get something better and lighter than alienware. Also...they are incredibly expensive should you take the financing route. -
