Hello! i hope some one can help me,

I set up everything as described ("buster"-Adapter, 600W xilence PS, Gigabyte GT730)

After Windows starts i get a nvlddmkm.sys blue screen, sometimes a dxgkrnl.

I read up on some suggestions that this might be caused by a driver conflict with my dGPU, a ATI card.

I tried a few fixes, but non really worked.

In setup 1.30 the card is only detected after some time in the Dos-Menu, and when i check the status, it says inaccessible. chainload failes with MBR and MBR2

Unfortunately i have no means of testing the Hardware but i`m hoping someone can tell me this is a simple software issue :)

help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

Experiment with chainloader settings (mode=MBR/bootmgr, remap=selected/inselected) until can get it to chainload to the Windows bootmenu upon which select Windows. The you too set your eGPU gear to run at Gen1 speed using the PCIe Ports->Gen1 Setup 1.30 menu. If using a EXP GDC then note it doesn't use a soldered cable like PE4C 3.0 does and is reknown for causing Gen2 instability as a result.

and when i start up the windows say that " Microsoft Basic Adapter"

    A couple of points:

    1. Your system unfortunately does not have a iGPU+dGPU switchable configuration. Instead you only have a dGPU. Hence you cannot disable the dGPU in Setup 1.30 because that's the GPU that your LCD is attached to.

    2. You have an AMD dGPU and eGPU. This is causing a problem because you require a different AMD driver for either. Try disabling the AMD dGPU in device manager, removing it's driver and using 'ddu' software to switch off auto driver reinstall. Then download and install the desktop AMD driver for your eGPU.

    3. This messy driver disabling could be alleviated if you had a NVidia eGPU instead using it's own unique driver without conflicting your dGPU.

Aw man... bummer. :-/ Nkay... so this means underclocking is only possible on windows. But I am not a windows user so that is not gonna help me. (I am doing design and video editing stuff on OSX).

    ...
    Any thoughts?

You may want to test the 75W bypass mod at https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/forums/topic/5661-us189-akitio-thunder2-pcie-box-16gbps-tb2/&page=48#comment-115060 which if successful, would refute the AKiTiO engineer comments linked there (which were always suspect to me). I don't recall if other GTX750Ti owners without PCIe power plugs who experienced instability tried that or not.

    Any suggestions?

Is your WWAN card in the 2570P whitelist athttps://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/forums/topic/1982-125-hp-elitebook-2570p-owners-lounge/&page=10#comment-60111

If not, consider getting one of those listed cards instead or wiring say your docking connector USB pins to your WLAN slot to gain an unwhitelisted port and use it there instead as done by @invait53 at https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/forums/topic/1982-125-hp-elitebook-2570p-owners-lounge/&page=47#comment-132577

I've got no luck and failed :(

it freezes suddenly again after benchmark right away...maybe my PSU is the problem but I've tried another one before and the problem is still there.

We've seen many GTX750Ti issues previously when the card had no PCIe power connector, as you have. Suggest changing the card out for one that does have 6pin PCIe power, eg: EVGA GTX750Ti FTW.

I'm having issues rebooting from setup 1.30 into windows. It reboots to a black screen, and I can't seem to get the adapter to show up in device manager after the fact.
This is a Lenovo Thinkpad E540 with no whitelisting (as far as I can tell), an AMD Radeon R9 380 on Windows 10.

    ..

I have tried to unplug the egpu immediately after selecting reboot in the setup 1.30 menu, it comes back with video but having plugged the mpcie adapter in at various times (in the grub loader menu, during the aux menu (F8 key), and the adapter refuses to show up. Maybe I'm misunderstanding the steps inside of Setup 1.30 or I'm failing to understand the hotswapping. If the egpu is plugged in and powered on from a hard shutdown and power on, it shows up perfectly in device manager and in setup 1.30, but always a black screen when in place from a software reboot.

    Any ideas? Thanks!

To apply any of the PCIe changes made in Setup 1.30 requires that you perform Chainloading rather that a reboot. Proceed then to do this by:

    1. Set Chainloader->mode=MBR. Confirm Chainloading to your Windows bootmenu, then into Windows works by doing Chainloader->Test Run. If not, alter the Chainloader settings until it does.

    2. Perform your PCI compaction as outlined when highlight PCI Compaction->Run compact and hit F1 (help)

    3.  Test your PCI compaction by doing Chainloader->Test Run.  If system fails to chainload or is unstable review the PCI compaction settings  (highlight PCI Compaction->Run compact and hit F1 (help)) as well as (temporarily at least) set your eGPU port to Gen1 speed by selecting PCIe Ports->Gen1 until stability is reached.

    Hi guys,

I am new around here. I just recently bought an PE4C V3 connected via expresscard slot to dell m6800 with quadro k5100m discreet gpu and geforce gtx 1070.

I still trying to get my hardware detected but so far no luck. I cannot see it on device manager.

Tired various things like changing switches on PE4C, uninstalling all drivers. disabling optimus via bios. etc....

I am totally newb so do I need the egpu setup 1.3 to see my card on win 10 device manager?

    Here is my setup.

*Edit. There are 4 leds on PE4C. First one is dimming red but it is very faint, second and 3rd one are bright green and 4th one also bright red.

    1. Ensure the expresscard is enabled in BIOS.

    2. Try hotplugging after boot and/or within Windows followed by a device manager rescan. Ensure the delay switches are turned off if trying this.

    3. Try sleeping machine, attaching EC slot, then resuming machine followed by a device manager rescan. Ensure the delay switches are turned off if trying this.

    4. Failing that, see if you have access to another expresscard equipped to test if it works. If not I'd suspect faulty eGPU adapter.

Hello. I am trying to setup this configuration but I am not very sure about the internal display working on Ubuntu. Although the wiki page for optimus mentions that this technology works for Windows and Linux. But I am yet to find any implemention of this setup. Would welcome your valuable suggestions.

Accelerated internal LCD mode similar to Optimus has recently been documented by @mrdatamx at

hi, i have problem with egpu on internal lcd. My config is:

    E6440

    i5-4310M

    8GB ram

    igpu HD4600

    dgpu 8690M

    egpu GTX660

    with EXP GDC mpci

    setup 1.3

even if dgpu is diseabled laptop still using igpu.

gtx is installed and working, forced using nvidia gpu in nvidia panel, high power plan i notebook.

how I should configure my setup?

Ensure you disable the HD8690M in Device Manager and never allow it to load it's drivers. Remove any existing ones, then use DDU to clear registry entries and reload the iGPU and NVidia drivers. Otherwise the AMD drivers hooks into the iGPU preventing NVidia Optimus from working.

    Hi there!

I’m trying to configure Setup 1.30 as a primary boot option to load EGPU as default. However, if Setup 1.30 is set as primary boot in Windows, the automatic startup using startup.bat just loops without loading Windows.

So how can Setup 1.30 be configured to load EGPU to Windows from cold boot, without having to first select Setup 1.30 in Windows boot menu?

    Thanks for a great programme!

Is in the install instructions supplied titled How to do an uninterrupted Setup 1.30 [disk image] boot into Windows?  that explains how to do this

    Thank you for the answer!

I did the same setup as you:

    call iport dGPU off
    call iport gen2 2
    call vidwait 60
    call vidinit -d %eGPU%
    call iport reset 2
    call iport init 2
    call pci
    :end
    call chainload mbr

Everything is perfect, but when windows start after few seconds the BSOD appears. I think that BIOS modification can solve this problem.

    ..

One more question. What is the color of indicator on your Beast adapte? My is red! Is it ok?

The BSOD with EXP GDC is probably due to running the port at Gen2 speed when it's only a Gen1 capable adapter.

Pls change ' call iport gen2 2 ' to ' call iport gen1 2 ' in your startup.bat to set the port at Gen1 speed and test further.

I have a lenovo G780 and I'm trying to hook up a GTX 1070 to it.  (I'm using a PE4C V 3.0) and I'm hot swapping the card in after I boot the computer.  However when I look in device manager and open the 1070, this is it's status.

"This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)

If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system."

I do have a dGPU but disableing it causes my entire computer to crash and forces me to recovery boot.  any help would be awesome.

Pls review these threads to solve error 12:

The inxtron is still expensive enough for $280 but would probably work better. who do you think qualifies as a 'thunderbolt developer'?

USB 3.1 has 10gbs bandwidth the same as thunderbolt, so why could it not work? I don't mean t be rude but it looks like it might work

Sry.. won't work.  http://www.bplus.com.tw/Adapter/PP1142.html provides USB-C and SATA to a desktop machine via it's pci-e slot.

Either look at a TB3 or mPCIe/M.2 eGPU adapter/enclosure to connect via the TB3 port or wifi slot respectively.

    Hi there,

I have just purchased the DiY Egpu setup program and I have followed the installation instructions but it doesn't show up in the boot options at the beginning when the system is starting. It automatically starts windows7 without offering me to choose the Egpu program. I have tried it on two separate laptops and I get the same. What am I doing wrong? Could somebody help me out here?

    Thanks in advance!

    1. Extract archive to c:\eGPU

    2. Run a DOS Prompt window (as admin)

    3. Type "cd c:\eGPU"

    4. Type "setup-disk-image" to run the installer. Note if any significant errors or warnings appear.

    5. Reboot and check if the DIY eGPU Setup bootitem appears.
