1. yea the blade is nicely designed for sure. Something like that would look really nice indeed.
2. damn that sux, maybee you will be getting a new one without the scratches on the lid afterall
3. Thats interesting you say industrial. The M9700 aurora was one of my favorites, is that more industrial? It is better to have more air flow and that laptop I think got pritty hot when they started puting core 2 duo's in the m9750. I like the red m18x alot tho, maybee if I found 5k siting under the couch or something.
4. There have been many different designs brought to the alienware laptops over the course of its history. From the first designs of the alienware area51-m 5500/776 onto the 7700 clevo, to the M9700 aurora, to the m17x/m15x beginging models and to the new lineup we have today. Does anyone have any idea on what they think wll be the next design of the alienware laptop series? What kinda changes will we see compared to what we have now aesthetically? Personally I would like to see them stray away from the current muscle car design and focus more onto scifi designs. I would also like to see something much more original then the current media controls. [h=3][/h]
5. congrats, sorry u didnt get 100% prestine but you have to know if you want to try for something better when you have the chance. Iv read alot of people getting ones that look like they were brand new, most were from m11xs though.
6. Iv been loving the m18x for few days now, seems I go from one laptop to another wanting all of them at one point. Iv owned alienwares in the past and my new lenovo has been a god sent, I did love my alienware dont get me wrong, any way I have this terrible fear of bsod's as I had bad memory in my alienware I got of ebay ages ago and it went on for years before I got new memory. So when I read that a new m18x owner was experiencing bsods on a consistent basis and was working through them like I did for so long it got me agitated. Here is link to what I was refering to. I would just like to get some other accounts of if this has been happening to any one else or if its an isolated incident. Also if you could tell me what you think is going on with the link I gave.
7. sheesh I always read all the parts that techs being over to replace but I never actually imagine how much crap that is. Mobo, LCD, bluethooth??gota be frigin kiding me lol...but yea I feel bad for you, I hope you get what you want in the end. Gota play hardball when it comes to alienwares. As for sending it in, did the tech not fix everything? I would just like to remind you that you can get some premium laptops for 1300 dollars for sure so make sure you are satisfied with what you end up with for the long haul.
8. well I used to know a few people that always swore that anything more then 2 drivers on each earcup was useless, or it might have been there was no such thing as surroundsound headphones. I do know that using the right headphones with the right amp/dac is a good deal better although I dont think id get anything else then wireless logitech g930 to be honest just being me.
9. Anyone else notice this new gaming headset that is relasing in q4 of 2011 by razer? Looks sweet cept I like wireless headsets nevertheless heres the link.
10. There is also a 14 inch laptop by asus which is really nice, ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Notebooks- ASUS A42JA. The asus A42JA.
11. The m14x is a nice milestone in the 13.3-14 inch laptop market. No laptop before it has ever had the amount of power graphically. You will be getting cutting edge technology. While upgrading is nice, its not always recommended. Your options are some what more easy to make then the m17x/18x cause there are not as many that make that much of a difference to the performance. What ever you get with the m14x you can rest assured its going to play anything you throw at it the way you want it too. The 900p screen is give or take, for gaming 768p is going to be more of a resolution that is suitable for high performance gaming or to be more specific competitive gaming in multiplayer which is what I'm all about so my laptop is perfect for me, I actually play more competitively at 720p resolutions which isn't my native and Id assume if your going to be playing rift then some of that will lye in the realm of competitive play. If you only played single player games 900p resolution screen would be a must. Onto the quad core or core i5 processors. This one is simple also. I use an i5 processor and it has been really great far exceeding my expectations. I would not be ashamed at all if your taking price into consideration that you get an i5, to me it is a good representation to the form factor of 13.3-14 inch but puting that aside we cant forget the achievement that has happened in the past few iterations of this form factor that its now able to utilize quad core processors that 99% of the people use in there 17 inch laptops. Thats a big step in terms of TDP (thermal design power) and is success that is in an milestone achievement in and of itself. While quad core gaming currently is not supported in most of todays games its definitely in a good majority of them and should be one of the main focal points in deciding what route you want to go with when determining what type of m14x you want to buy. The ram,Hard disk drive,blue-ray, wwan,1.5/3.0 graphics memory, and my favorite WiHD and the rest of it is moderate decisions and wont impact performance all that much and are more bells and wisles which are my favorite part of the laptop bizzz. The only hard part is choosing the color.

Sony Vaio Z1?

I would think having a brand new system with a vidock which is what you want would appeal. Having new technology to me would be more fun and exciting then having the extra power of a 570 card. Either way I hope you get what you want in the end and resolve your troubles that you have experienced with dell. Its definitely not fun when things dont work out especially when keeping your laptops running smoothly. IV screamed and shouted many times at the laptops Iv owned for various reasons, I like myn to run the way I want them to run and when they don't like anythings its frustrating.

Sony Vaio Z1?

Well if you didn't know sony has a new Z series out that comes with a docking station and its cutting edge. I would look into something like that before buying older and making your own vidock, its what they designed it for, people like you.
14. Brinks new DLC Agents of Change went live on the 3rd of this month, August and is free for people that have the game untill August 18th at which time will cost there after. I made a video showing off the two new levels, its just a short rough cut so feel free to pick through it. Its also being played on my ideapad Y460 laptop on my youtube channel in my sig. I have it set to the maximum resolution so to have no letterboxing so its not quite as fast as it is when I play competitivly along with fraps taking some of that as well. Its in HD so feel free
15. Looks really good cept I dont have 200 hours to play another RTS I am however looking forward to Guildwars2 and Star wars the old republic, tera and the secret world
16. add me to the "were sorry but you dont meet the criteria" bla bla, you think its because they arnt accepting anyone else cause they have enough testers or something else? Someone else said something about the rankings in bfbc2 determining weather we get in or not.

18. I'm looking forward to guildwars2 and star wars the old republic since Im big mmorpg player but I dont have sli/cf to play it on, still my ati card in my Y460 ideapad will suit them well.
19. loving this thread, so interesting. You might find it luck to get it all on the first shot with the measurements but if it dosnt perform the way you want it to don't get discouraged.
20. wow, thats great. Love the laptops specs! Duel 6990, woa! So so sweet! Your all set to own in battlefield 3 and mw3! Hope all goes well with it!
21. yea I owned one of the first alienware gaming laptops, 776SN0, it was an iteration of the 5500, it was an area51-m as they say. I used to use omega drivers for it, I think there still going but in that software it had its own overclocking ability. I should have known when I started to try overclocking, it was already at its max, like way way max lol, I just wanted some extra performance in World of Warcraft, I probably played it maybee 3 thousands hours on that machine but when I went to overclock it, the first time it worked but the second time, something happened and the screen went hay wire. So for a good 1 and half years after that I had these blue artifacts in every game, it was kinda funny but it pisses me off at the same time. There was also artifacts in other games, but most the time it was blue ones that you would see just hues of blue all over textures, you could still run the games fine and they looked basically the same. I searched for so so long, looking through every page on the net finding what I could to fix it. I finally one day, about year later, found this site that had exactly what I was looking for, it dealt with artifacts and what causes them. It was the memory on the ATI Radeon 9600 pro that had become corrupted while I was overclocking it. It didn't fix the problem right off the bat, but I new what I was looking for after that and another 6 months down the road I decided to update the drivers to the newest 10.1 that was out then and sure enough to my amazement it worked perfectly like the laptop was brand new.
22. Iv tried a few others, but they wouldnt set the clocks at all. This tool always works all the time, its perfect cept there isnt any monitors or nothing and it is bit plain but cant complain.
23. Haven't messed with the voltage yet, I use AMD's GPU overclocking tool, works well but there is a setting on there that will allow you to adjust the voltage. Default clocks are 550 on the core and 800 on the memory. I can push the core to 700 and the memory to 850.
