  1. I'm aggravated. I'll have to call them after work. Now I'm out however long it's going to take to get this right. I did all the trouble shooting and everything is fully up to date. I turned it down from 24 to 16mhz and it sounded better but the bad sounds were still there Could this fix it? http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-gaming-notebook-forum/519478-creative-x-fi-mb-your-g73-realtek-hd-2-48-a.html *update* not home yet but playing with this at work. I turned all the volume settings from 100 to 0 except the front and the sound has improved. I still sware I hear some crackling at intense moments, but I haven't tried it out long enough. Still leaves me confuse though as "default" settings sound very bad
  2. Grrr. Ok I'll call today. I don't understand how Dell can say "refurbished" then say things like they fully test all parts and fix or replace them, so on and so fourth when they clearly didn't. It's weird to and hard to explain other than at regular volume or higher when there's action going on it's slightly muffled, ad crackle/static occurs. In music the voices are typically ok, at witcher 2 main menu part of the Music was fine, all the background stuff was bad tough.
  3. Holy crap my speakers sound terrible. Drivers are up to date and everything. When it's real quite it's ok but when there's action it sounds like a crackle or something. Trying a game now to see if it sounds the same. So far I've watched movie trailers and listened to music but it sounds bad. Nothing works out easy for me! *edit* loaded witcher 2 and ya it's there to. Like a crackle or heavy static.
  4. I'm not to concerned with them, I got a great deal. The screen itself is mint an that's the important part. The weird smudge hasn't shown itself since I unboxed it. Now I need to find a case that'll fit this darn thing haha
  5. Just got it! A couple scratches on the front around the alien ware logo, to be expected but when I opened it there was a large spot in the middle. Looked like air was trapped in a film layer. Anyway it slowly went away as I opened and closed laptop, should I be worried? *edit* hasn't come back yet, what I meant by film is I thought they had put a protective film on for shipping and you know-how it looks with air trappe inside? Yup, like that. The scratches must have come from previous owner, they are like swirl scratches, but only on front of casing not actual screen...still annoying though hah
  6. Very cool man thanks for the info. Is there a good guide to overclocking here? Eta is Wednesday! Oh man what am I gonna play first? Shogun? Rift? Witcher? Bah! Haha
  7. Lol! I'm just anxious to get it now an play some rift on high settings and grab the witcher 2! I played rift trial on ultra low, like it wouldn't even run on regular low haha.
  8. Same rig. Had the best specs of what was there. Wanted a 8gb instead if the 4gb but it was a deal I couldn't pass up. Should I find a how to and overclock it out of the box?
  9. Ordered! :-) the coupon didn't work so I chatted it up with customer service and they honored it
  10. So refurbished may be a viable option as well if the price is right I'm so close to pulling the trigger on this one but I'm just about to go to bed and I need to check paypal funds first so on and so fourth. Is this a good deal? If it's there in the morning and it's good I'll take it as a sign haha http://outlet.us.dell.com/ArbOnlineSales/topics/global.aspx/arb/online/en/InventoryDetails?POPUP=true&systemId=EECXJ0CL Also there is a 20% off coupon that is working. The coupon code says it ends 8-20 but the code when enterEd says it ends today, hopefully it will work in the am as well
  11. How is the package that is 1499? Is it legit 224 savings? Great deal if so. Www.Dell.com/us/alienware-m14x/fs Though I don't need a back pack haha
  12. Here's the flood of info I need! Thanks guys. Now I bought a Asus for my gf at Xmas. Nothing special but better general specs that my ancient laptop, and it ran games at the same level, couldn't handle better. Sort of a turn off. My first gaming PC was an alienware and I loved it.
  13. I'm confident I can follow proper guidance to tweak it, I'm not worried about that. My concern is spending to much money. My main objective was to find out what I should upgrade from stock or not an why. Example i5 or i7, then which i7? Would max be needed and why. Also the resolution issue I heard its better to stay at stock but I'm unclear why. I guess I shouldn't have asked here :-/ sorry to take everyone's time
  14. Thanks. So is Asus better than Alienware for games? I am sure I can follow faqs and tinker with this system enough to learn how to use it, why is it so non user friendly?
  15. not rude at all sir. Once I get my hand on something and can play with it (no crude jokes plz lol) I can figure it out fine but I haven't looked at laptop specs in years so I'm way behind on the lingo and what not.
