  1. DR650SE sorry to hear about your card being bricked. Good question DR650SE how does StamatisX keep under that PSU limit? Cover those up StamatisX, those golden cards are blinding everyone here. Anyone here get a CPU score for Windows 7 WEI to 7.9, 7.8 or 7.7 with one of these babys? I've got mine to 7.6 and I've seen a 980X gets 7.8 unless its overclocked well into 4Ghz range then it gets a 7.9 rating.
  2. Brian could you post any firmware updates for drives associated with the M17 R2 in case someone out there has older drives still. *Such as a removable media drive firmware and hard drive firmware?
  3. If thats true that could make the M18 a top desktop replacement that actually functions like a laptop not a lead weight with a 30 min battery life.
  4. Great to hear both methods are equally dependable. I think you should post we should post what seems to work for each of us. For a mild overclock i seem to like 1.1v @ 850core w/ stock 1000 memory. I may attempt to inch close to Stam's Golden Shower sample lol! One of us has to get these 5870 to 1Ghz core when i replace thermal pads etc. i may attempt it who knows 1ghz w/ 1.15v ... maybe.
  5. Nice job you and Brian were planing to beat 6K. Congrats! I noticed my 4th core almost never in any situation gets higher than that. When i can afford thermal pads and shin etsu i will finely adjust the tension on the cpu die.
  6. Great guide Dane. Nice temps a 8-10 degree celcius difference can be like night and day. Great job.
  7. You have the right to remain silent, any bench posted can and will be compared to others in the "All Powerful" Tech inferno forum. You will be given a fair trial with a jury of your Tech Inferno peers. Seriously though, posting stock benches to compare to is a great idea.

  9. Thanks for the advice. I've had pages and pages of notes of different speeds, temps, settings, tdp's i have tried when stability testing and i'm trying to learn the curve. Temps play a great roll in all this and I agree the use of any voltage at all makes it slower due to this increase in heat. I'll try no increase in voltage and see how things fair then. The main thing is this mod works great and its even got me thinking later down the line if i need to format i may change the Raid 0 setup from 128kb to 4k or 16k. It may bring my Sequential down but 4k may be improved.
  10. Okay thanks for the warning. I've used 98tdp 4%overclock and 25turbo muliplier for 4 and 3 core and 26 for 2 and 1 core. This gives 7.6 for mem and cpu on WEI. All on stock volt. The one I used for the 3.57 on those was exactly like you wrote 3% overclock and 26multiplier on all cores with a 75mv cpu increase. I'll stay away from the 130 tdp and 110 I know these are what a desktop processor would reach and could cause damage. Thank you I'll try the regedit again. When I went back to my computer I checked out the device manager and all cpu's had yellow exclamation so I uninstalled all and rebooted and it is acting normal also disabled sleeping. Thanks for the help I'll let you know where about I settled on TDP and TDC. I think I misunderstood all of your posts... So if your under extreme load StamatisX your cpu isn't running at 3.57? See I thought your 3.57 was unyeilding to anything you throw at it. I'll get this yet... So using a bit lower tdp and less voltage may yeild best results in the end due to thermal roof. By the way did any of those results show the proper improvement the mod is supposed to show? I noticed it gave you more 4k write and read speed, and for me seemed to affect the larger file size more than the 4k for me. Still I see an improvement and I think that at 7.9 Wei score for hard drive after mod is the highest it's ever been. I have only reached 7.7 in the past with all the regular tweaks.
  11. Thank you thats a great explanation of how it works. So why don't they make laptops with sealed guts that pump actively cooled oil through! (Liquid cooled R2 would be grand)
  12. By the way StamatisX I badly need to get paste and and do the retention mod did you see my temps? As for a quick update i'm starting to notice its anytime it sits for a little while. I'm gonna uninstall processor icons like the article states to undo this and see if that fixes this because i think now its not this registry mod doing this but the fact that I am now on the Wiz's version 1 Modded Bios and read that there was a similar issue with bios A10 and may have carried over to modded bios. Not sure what to think but wish i could keep this baby cool enough to keep a constant 3.57ghz on anything. StamatisX do you use a tdp or tdc around what i was using? Any thoughts on this subject?
  13. All the following tests were done with throttle stop set to no c1e state and no EIST. This pic is of WEI score with 90tdp and tdc before registry mod. This pic shows WEI score before registry mod using 130tdp and 110tdc. Pic of crystal disk on 4k with 130tdp and 110tdc before registry mod. This pic displays crystal ran using 130tdp and 110 tdc before registry mod. This pic is the first run of crystal disk after registry mod. This pic shows 2nd run of crystal disk after registry mod. This pic shows WEI score after registry mod this pic shows the QPI readings are messed up and confirmed by second run of intel processor ID utility on the following pic This pic shows that after idle and require password on resume is enabled baseclock drops to default 133mhz StamatisX, Michael or Brian do you know what these anomalies are?
  14. First out of anything start windows in startup repair with F8 choose it from the list and see if that will repair the boot problem. If not I would get a dump from those crashes and analyze it with Dells diagnostic tool for BSOD memory dumps. See what file the errors on could be driver issue. Drop all your over-clocks back and try the repair again possibly after typing "chkdsk /r /f" into command prompt when booted from Windows & DVD. By the way if you go to recovery console on Windows 7 DVD and you can get to command prompt type "c:/" and enter to change to C: drive then "sfc /h" this will list commands for System File Checker. Set a scan up that points to your offline windows directory and offline boot directory thats listed like but fill in whats true for your computer. You'll see the commands listed type SFC/ offlinebootdir=c:\ offlinewindir=c:\this is wrong but it will look similar. This helped me once. Please if anyone else here knows a couple of windows repairs please add help with this response. By the way if you can get into windows successfully you can perform an in place upgrade by going to upgrade on the windows 7 DVD when you are booted in windows and start the dvd. Also called a repair install> Some drivers get reset and desktop preferences but you will keep your programs and data intact.
  15. That would be amazing hope you try that out with the next version of unlocked R2 bios and post your results.
  16. In your article on the review thats up an coming I read you will be comparing it to a done up R2. Can you compare stock R2 and even an overclocked one such as your R2 Brian or Micheal and StamitasX's R2? Like Stam's 3.57Ghz quad setup would be a great performance comparison of modded and unmodded R2's.
  17. Great results StamatisX. I'll give it a try since i have a 920XM. Cudos on the 3.57Ghz 8thread quadcore!
  18. +1 on making a gallery thats amazing Kensei! How does the system work. Electronics submerged in liquid oil? I don't understand how it survives amazing though. What gave you the idea to make this?
  19. I had Mass Effect 2 on my system before. Ill have to get it back on when i'm all back up and running. Only made sure it ran amongst 90+ games I loaded on. I'll have to make it my prerogative to play through... It looked simply amazing.
  20. I'll be posting some soon after i finish my clean install of windows. In the mean time to set a basis for benches please post what benches we are all looking for here. 3Dmark, PCmark, Sandra Soft, Everest, WEI, HWinfo32, Prime Benchmark Function and so on
  21. What have your experiences been so far with version 1 of the bios if you have loaded it on your computer?
  22. Yes what gives. That aluminum helps to cool the motherboard and components.
