  1. As much as I'm disgusted with the way laptops are going, I feel sadness when I consider tearing myself away from them for a future system because of this community. Even though as Mr. Fox quoted there's quite a few people who seem to be willing to accept the bad direction and move on, people like you make me want to stay. I feel terrible about the tech industry on the whole these days. It's not hard to give us something good... but they try SO HARD to give us things that are bad.
  2. I wasn't even considering cost-effectiveness. I was considering size and dimension limitations; of which a 13" model has quite a bit more than a 17" model. Unless you build a 17" chassis and put a 13" screen in it, making a huge bezel or something.
  3. Yeah no... I can't see that fitting. It's not possible to cool that, far less get it all fitting in a LAPTOP form (with sufficient I/O and a battery etc) with any kind of decent keyboard and screen. It won't happen. Razer, Gigabyte, Aorus and others can't even do it with haswell quadcores in 14" and 15" you wanna do it in 13" with Ivy-E? Ain't happening man.
  4. Yeah, if you want to remove ICD without scratching, simply follow ICD's instructions on how to remove it What that is, actually, is to simply soak the ICD in solvent (Arcticlean or isoprophyl etc) and then just wipe it off. If you try to scrub it off with a cloth etc wet with alcohol, then you're gonna scratch it. It doesn't take long at all.
  5. It'd need to be extremely thick and not have much in the space of I/O or battery, is how I'm seeing potential layouts in my mind. You'd need the heatsinks on top the GPUs/GPU and the fans on top the heatsinks directly to save the breadth being what it is, and also the length can't be too long either. I don't think it's particularly feasible, exactly. It'd look a bit like a P570WM shrunk down if I'm imagining it correctly.
  6. I was referring to his original point about his battery being at 64% wear after 1 year XD. I know about you and your 840 Evo issues. I've tried so hard to get people to buy things OTHER than that XD
  7. Not to mention that... but we don't even know whether it's a 350 "from the wall" or "will deliver 350W to system". If it's the former it could be well under 300W in power. In addition to all of the other mentioned issues. XD.
  8. Can you link us to this 350W PSU? As far as I know, 330W is the largest brick available. And I am more than certain that HP isn't going to pioneer the largest laptop PSUs
  9. <S>It should be compatible, but a SM vBIOS might not be the same as a SM-A vBIOS</S> Prema knows. I would HIGHLY suggest selling the M290X card and buying a 900M series card.
  10. You will be waiting for a very very very very very very very very very long time. Mainly until 1080M SLI and 5960X is available in a single mainstream CPU and GPU that fits in a 15" XD
  11. High heat in your environment wears the battery more. I have had serious battery wear in all my laptops (I've had about four in my life) and most other people, even with the same model, have not had such issues. My D900F was actually as bad as 98% wear in 1 year.
  12. For what? eGPUs have been around since at LEAST 2008. They're not new, and they're not a "perfect" solution. The perfect solution is working video cards and working laptops (both of which are in short supply right now).
  13. Laptop Video Cards :: nVidia GTX 970M 6GB Video Card for Clevo Laptops - R&J Technology, Clevo Barebone Notebook kits, Laptop and desktop system builder you could get a 970M for cheaper Laptop Video Cards :: nVidia GTX 965M 4GB Video Card for Clevo Laptops - R&J Technology, Clevo Barebone Notebook kits, Laptop and desktop system builder or a 965M for even cheaper I would personally suggest the 970M for that price, it's that much stronger than the 965M. The SM-A variant should work for the EM.
  14. Those are soldered only as far as I know, as they are the 860M Maxwell rebadge, and that was soldered only. 965M would be the card you're looking to see about.
  15. Well in that case that makes sense for your form factor. Please note: when attempting to "cool" a card or a CPU, Max Fans is indeed part of the design. But if you don't like your fan to kick up, well kudos I guess. 980M's coolness comes in.
  16. What do you mean you "just get warmer for a very small gain"? Have you tried using Prema's vBIOS on the 980M (if it isn't already installed) and what kind of OCing did you do? And what temps did you get? Technically if you're at like 80c with an overclock using max fans in games like Witcher 3 and your GPU's running at 99% all the time, you're not doing bad at all.
  17. ... >_>... ... Brb, salivating. Also I love you. <3. Now if only SOMEBODY would make a 3D notebook so we could get that license for 900M series...
  18. So Prema I'ma be a little far-fetched here... think you can use that "license" in another BIOS for a totally unrelated system using a totally unrelated screen that is running on eDP without switchable graphics to enable Gsync? I'm going to be honest I want gsync for my P370SM3
  19. Whenever you notice your temps are climbing a lot. If you have a good paste of IC Diamond, you should never need to repaste. But if you think temps are way too high, you might wanna look into it, or maybe a cooling mod or two.
  20. That's not "weird" that's "880M". It's a problem that has plagued those cards in SLI since their inception. You might get decent in-game performance but your synthetic benchmarks I believe will forever take a hit. You would quite literally be better off selling the 880Ms and buying two 780Ms and overclocking them slightly.
  21. Yeah, Eurocom is exceedingly expensive for reasons unknown. You can also get from Sager through a reseller like LPC-Digital or XoticPC and it will be cheaper than both origin and eurocom. But as far as I could see, many of these clevo rebranders have been skimping on QA with these machines so it's more of a "pick your poison" kind of deal. I can say that a place that WILL definitely do QA before sending to you is Mythlogic, but Mythlogic is also a bit expensive, and warranty may not be as above and beyond as it was say two years ago.
  22. 1 - Why are you typing in white? 2 - It will never work as well as it does in other machines and requires end-user mods to the fan tables and other such things 3 - It will never overclock properly But it can... "work".
  23. svl7's vBIOS from this forum is the best you can get for it, as far as I remember. Just remember to take the correct vBIOS for your laptop
  24. Well... something else is screwed up for you then. Nothing else I can say. Have you tried using the modified vBIOS?
