  1. Nor for me, i can live without it. Relentless, some games required nv physx core to be install'd :S. Mostly Unreal 3 Engine powered games.
  2. There is a way Hybrid PhysX mod v1.03 / v1.04ff and as far i tested is working... There is a war going on out there in the (Market)universe we know nothing about. But we all feel the effect PhysX - Havoc - Bullet Physx ,open physx, OpenCL and a lot more i dont even know.
  3. <style>.wlEmoticon { behavior: url(#default#.WLEMOTICON_WRITER_BEHAVIOR) } img { behavior: url(#default#IMG_WRITER_BEHAVIOR) } .wlWriterEditableSmartContent { behavior: url(#default#.WLWRITEREDITABLESMARTCONTENT_WRITER_BEHAVIOR) } .wlWriterEditableSmartContent > .wlEditField { behavior: url(#default#.WLWRITEREDITABLESMARTCONTENT_>_.WLEDITFIELD_WRITER_BEHAVIOR) } blockquote { behavior: url(#default#BLOCKQUOTE_WRITER_BEHAVIOR) } #extendedEntryBreak { behavior: url(#default##EXTENDEDENTRYBREAK_WRITER_BEHAVIOR) } .postBody table { behavior: url(#default#.POSTBODY_TABLE_WRITER_BEHAVIOR) } .postBody td { behavior: url(#default#.POSTBODY_TD_WRITER_BEHAVIOR) } .postBody th { behavior: url(#default#.POSTBODY_TH_WRITER_BEHAVIOR) } </style><style>.postTitle {margin: 0px 0px 10px 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px;} .postBody {margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; }</style>Even if clevo hand out the full blueprints, doubt is help us with M17X-R2 here... LOL Does anyone even plunged in an M18X PSU into an M17X-R2 ??? I just humbly asking because, i used my OLD XPS M1730 230W PSU with my R2 and is still recognize it. Does anyone even tried it, or we just talking about the ID signature. They both made for dell, and the signal sent out, specified by dell. Unless the sockets are different the laptop should recognize. Designing HW is relatively cheap in todays IT, however making program for that hw is the expensive part. Replacing a faulty laptop “m17x-r1” (3x in my case) even all tech guys knew is JUST a software “BIOS” issue... is cheaper for dell than fix it. So what is the point to spend a fortune to block a small piece of HW to work like a PSU ??? If you replace your GPU’s and the PSU, could end up a burned-out system board Y, simply because is not designed to handle-out that amount of power, and take that HUGE load for long. I read somewhere our current PSU could peak at 280W. So i guess that could be the top limit for the motherboard too. if you do the math ...√∆∑=?. you cannot use “probably” a crossfire 6970M permanently. 100W x2= 200W nothing to mention the CPU 55W is 255W already. and i did not count 3x HDD 7200RPM (i have) fan’s, BT, WIFI, LCD. But probable you can use on 6970M with an 280M GTX if my memory serves is only 75W for PhysX. <style>.wlEmoticon { behavior: url(#default#.WLEMOTICON_WRITER_BEHAVIOR) } img { behavior: url(#default#IMG_WRITER_BEHAVIOR) } .wlWriterEditableSmartContent { behavior: url(#default#.WLWRITEREDITABLESMARTCONTENT_WRITER_BEHAVIOR) } .wlWriterEditableSmartContent > .wlEditField { behavior: url(#default#.WLWRITEREDITABLESMARTCONTENT_>_.WLEDITFIELD_WRITER_BEHAVIOR) } blockquote { behavior: url(#default#BLOCKQUOTE_WRITER_BEHAVIOR) } #extendedEntryBreak { behavior: url(#default##EXTENDEDENTRYBREAK_WRITER_BEHAVIOR) } .postBody table { behavior: url(#default#.POSTBODY_TABLE_WRITER_BEHAVIOR) } .postBody td { behavior: url(#default#.POSTBODY_TD_WRITER_BEHAVIOR) } .postBody th { behavior: url(#default#.POSTBODY_TH_WRITER_BEHAVIOR) } </style><style>.postTitle {margin: 0px 0px 10px 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px;} .postBody {margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; }</style>Top of that 6970M Still having issue with R2 (fan control) we dont really want to get burned by alien’s do we LOL As a repair engineer, beleive me when i say, a burned out laptop not really a good looking thing.
  4. I dont think MXM 3B will change for a while. I more worried about AMD losing DX suport as they mention here AMD: DirectX Holding Back Game Performance
  5. Just spotted something exciting "AMD Radeon HD 7000M series" ??????? Tech Info Zone: AMD's 28nm mobile graphics roadmap leaked Radeon HD 7000M It looks AMD going to lose DirectX support??? i heard rumors about that, AMD plans to go back old school "Bare metal programing".... No underlaying API between HW and SW :S
  6. There are advantaged on both side. Who goes for what is a personal issue (preference)... LOL
  7. I know the tech works behind R3, i mean for me is no point only i find one attractive element 16GB of ram when you dealing with Hyper-V or vmware it could come handy. Personally i much prefer dual grafics (remembe my 1st one 2xVoodoo2 24MB from Diamond) soon we going to hit 4gb on a single card.
  8. Aye! U R right . Cooling the vram is not pressing isue it mostly stand for 1300Mhz EZ without cooling. I have not checked but i sore they had some reference standard up to that XXX it must work stable. The pressing issue is the GPU cooling m17x GPU cooling is relatively not bad but is lack of proper design. Since the highest gpu is 5870 for m17x dell had no interest to do anything. R3 housing a single 6970M performs similar than 2 5870 not really point to go for single.
  9. Fortunatelly you still cover'd by dell LOL. However is going to be the right time, so they fix up major problems at least. On my part i hate this slotload drives (no emergency eject) if you put a disk in it and the drive decide to go haywire..... :S You unable to get it out, needless to say even boot your laptop. I had that problem, after just removed my drive... now is on eSATA... M18X still the same i guess... Whom has no experience at all about how to take it apart, it could be a big problem. and dell support just talk bs what to do to get it out... Hope you never experience that.
  10. yes the Delta Electronics usually came with the R2 lighter by weight, and thinner leads. However the Flextronix came originally with the R1 performing far better its heavier and have thick cable I know heavy thick cable not realy good for the charging socket, speciallt when your baby sits on the edge of the table. That we can deal with. But the most reliable PSU came from my M1730 is double the weight and the size of the R1 PSU. NOT emitting any kinda noise. Previous M1730 users know that.
  11. I still use my XPS M1730 backpack came with my M1730. Have an Orion backpack for a day and i sent it back for refund. XPS bag much protective (padded) when it comes to travel. And i like that lappy to be safe. I just made a few mods myself. Mods i made on xps bag: My logon screens and wallpaper=(mod of the original cyan color aw-c05) And oem script for WS2008R2 Sp1 $OEM$.zipactivated with dell key and aw cert. Std / Ent edition I also made a full customization of the server setup and the os itself $OEM$.zip
  12. I have not experienced that. I've retained the original XPS M1730 power (brick) and R1 PSU when my laptops was replaced time to time. I know is a "bit heavy" than what came with R2 but performing much much better and got thicker leads too...
  13. I did it with my R2 here i know is on different forum but i hope OPs dont cut out the knowledge. M17x-R2 CFX 5870 modding for extreme oc
  14. PSU hack would be nice. Personally i thinking to get the power circuit mod. Just need to find the tracks. Here is my test with heaven 2.5 Before and after my cpu upgrade BTW: cant we just use a m18x geniune PSU?? I do beleive StamatiX you do something different i have 920xm (not OC'd) using the same driver 11.6 and i not pushing the GPU that much Dont assume so wide distance bitween W7 and WS2008R2 LOL
  15. AlienwareRGBLed.zip I using that ICC profile it works. I checked it against Color calibrator (designed for photoshop)
  16. Go dell support download the diagnostic software, build the diagnostic usb and BOOT the system diag. If you not sore i can send you my one is have a lots of tools for R2. But certainly don't forget to upgrade the BIOS to A10 after a sysboard replacement they usually come with A04. I've seen X34 once engeneering version ( buggy like dhell ) LOL
  17. I'll ask my supply chain as i was not able to find it on ebay. btw: did you flash'd your card with the atiwinflash ?? or dos usb ati flash ?? winflash has killed my cards once... flashing was complete but no boot :S . When i read the eprom from the writer i've seen FF FF FF FF like everywhere. Winflash managed to erase the chip, but forgot put the new firmware in it...

Can you imagine the chaos, if an OEM wont pay +25c for a more expensive eeprom specially when they mostly using AMDs reference design?? AMD have to redesign the whole architecture? NO WAY! pin outs are the same the interface should recognize the IC Cannot say i have experience with 6970M nor i tried flashing an eprom with a clip ever... Too many circuit can cause the process goes haywire. If you look at your board closely there is usually two different eprom pin out mostly next to each other at least on my MR 5870 has 2 socket. mark them white
  19. Its has the same pinout than pm25lv010 you dont have to worry about that even if you dont find any. You can use pm25lv010 the pinout is same??? YES! ATIflash will recognize it??? YES! It has the same flash size ??? YES xxxxx010xxxxx So you OK to go.
  20. No No NO!! You dont have to keychain it its crazy. Just get a pm25LV010 serial eeprom from your local electronic hw store or ebay... Or desold it from yours ( i using a dremel gas solder with the heat blow tip , is not causing ESD) 2min heating gently, moving around the eeprom then just grab with a metal tweezers from its side and ez lift it up (don't forget ground yourself) get an eeprom programer (willem pcb50B) will do. grab a vbios from save or from the net and flash the eeprom than sold it back ready No keychaining involved..... 2nd option if you got a working card, desold both eeproms make bridge outside 8 pice of wire from the card itself. Lead them it out from the case, attach the working eeprom until boot. Then hotswap-it to the incorrect one, and flash vbios. I also did that a few times Thats probably the ezyest and dont need to go buy fancy equipment. You should be safe below 200c 392F over that usually they die. if you need help pm me i did that before...
  21. Just need more ££££, what i had spared now i spent on a cpu LOL... Able to get 6970M from mxm-upgrade for ~ £400 + the GTX 280M from ebay for ~£140 = £540 that a lot. But worth it than ,can say i have a AMD+nvidia Hybrid GFX:36_002: thats cooooool Prehaps after next month... will let you know...
  22. Just Ordered a i7 920XM CPU should be with me soon as soon. I have more resource to spare i'll go for 6970M FCX or a single 6970M with a GTX 285M as dedicated PhysX ... I've not decided yet, any opinion on that would help... I know 6970 is a powerhungry beast so cfx would need more power i dont really want burn my systemboard. I may could try replace the power coils and the regulator IC's.
  23. Thats why we lucky to have this forums so we cal learn from eachothers (knowledge or mistakes sometimes). thanks the welcome LOL
