  1. v8.01 It's based on svl7's mod ! It should work. I have made it using same procedures as with the Y500. He is probably using the wrong flashing method.
  2. I can probably do it myself for everyone by hex comparing stock and modded BIOS made by him. But if something is different I risk bricking everyone's motherboard. But you can always donate him prior making the BIOS mod, He doesn't have much free time probably. But this way he hopefully can release faster. I can do the 750M and 650M unlock on 2.03 and 2.04 but the whitelist and menu unlock I have no experience with. Reason I don't make the mod myself is because I have a non-whitelisted WLAN card. And this is my only computer.
  3. Post max core overclock here. Tested with FURMARK at 512x512 resolution, 8x AA and Extreme Burn-In settings. I need to have as much samples as possible to start my 750 stock overclocked BIOS mod. Possibly 1150mhz is the max safe core clock for everyone I think. So please post your overclock and let's do this overclocking without software. I will release two versions: - one which is stable for everyone at the stock voltage - one that boosts up to the max core clock in the boost table ~1250mhz with dynamic voltage.
  4. One does not simply buy on shady websites. 5. y510p is haswell. y500/y400 is ivy different socket different chipset never compatible
  6. Are you really able to run a 3630QM off a 35W motherboard? Your motherboard only supplies 35W, not 45W according to the hardware maintainance manual. Just wondering. Don't know where 35W motherboard is coming from but It must have to do with cooling capacity probably. Are your temps much higher now? What about power consumption in CPUID HWMonitor? Can you give these values? Under Prime95 conditions if you can.
  7. IF you ever happen to open up your Y500 write down all the FRUs or SKUs you find. I think you have a 35W motherboard and cooling if that exists. I mean the 35W cooling. Or maybe it's badly mounted
  8. n1smo dont you own the 3210M model ? I noticed there are 35W and 45W boards for Y500.
  9. I am really wondering what makes people want optimus if it's absent. If optimus is present they want to get rid of it. Funny
  10. Apparently it had to do with my Intel Advanced-N 6235. If Bluetooth AMP is enabled, the feature that allows the bluetooth to switch between bluetooth and wifi to send. This is some kind of power saving feature. Windows Event Viewer showed BTHUSB at the same time. But since my BT adapter of my WLAN card disconnected at the same time it is my BT adapter. Also this error seems to affect all USB3 ports
  11. http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/ideapad_y400y500_hmm_1st_edition_sep_2012_english.pdf PAGE 78 According to the SKU list I see multiple types of motherboards also 35w and 45w versions. So this made me think I can only upgrade to a 35w i7 if not at all. I noticed a 200$ i7 3720QM on ebay. Should I save up for new laptop? replacing mobo and cpu is kinda expensive UPDATE Found it myself. Apparently I can only upgrade to 35W i7 models. I'll just save up for Broadwell so I can start modding the 800 Nvidia GPUs when they arrive.
  12. It's a motherboard restriction. Hardware limitation I think. I had that with Dell Inspiron N5110
  13. Open up device manager and in the top menubar, select SHOW DISABLED DEVICES. report back if you see the bluetooth adapter now It's also possible that it's shown as Microsoft Generic BT Adapter or something similar.
  14. You are using my 1.025v 1Ghz with the memory overclock right? I am using the 0.975v version without issues. If you want I can try making you a version with stock memory clocks at 0.975v while the core is still at 1ghz. Perhaps that can help you out.
  15. It's doable yes. If you know Windows. You create the necessary power schemes. Next up. Know where the power schemes are stored in registry and know how to use the command line to change power schemes. Next find a way to read the battery levels. It's all you need. Plain simple. To help you: HKEY LOCAL MACHINE// services ? // CurrentControlSet // Power I think that's where u find it. Not sure. There are keys to turn off and on hyperthreading, control turbo boost, control upthreshold and downtreshold and so on. dont waste your time on it.
  16. I think they have a word for that called drivers. Check the driver page of the Y580. If using an intel adapter I suggest you look at the intel website. Another suggestion is, when your drivers are installed, if the setting exist, disable BLUETOOTH AMP. It's a real pain and can cause the bluetooth icon to crash and the adapter to be disabled. Hope I helped you.
  17. Mine throttles fine on idle. You should try again and try different software.
  18. Didnt notice any difference with 0.975v. Maybe I didn't do enough testing.
  19. But 75C is so much more comfortable ! I'm going to try 0.975v right now. Posting back after stress testing.
  20. I overclocked my 650m to 1ghz and 2500mhz memory From there i compared: 0.975v - 73C 1.025v - 75°C 1.100v - 85°C results may vary. It's unreliable since I only tested once. Game used: Company of Heroes 2 Benchmark I think it is clear now people shouldnt be asking me anymore for overvolt mods. However, you are always welcome for undervolt requests. I know only one game may not say it all but i think it's very trustable. Undervolting will decrease cpu temps as well as gpu temperatures. Let's hope i can get my gpu voltages down to 0.95-0.975v and reducing it by another 5°C at least. I hope you guys like my comparison ----- UPDATE 1 ----- PLEASE TEST THESE UNDERVOLT VS STOCK VOLT VS OVERVOLT. SO WE CAN KNOW WHAT THE EFFECT OF OVERVOLTING AND UNDERVOLTING HAS ON TEMPERATURES. I would like to know the results: Use Furmark by preference at: Custom resolution 512x512 Anti Aliasing 8X In settings select Extreme Burn-In before testing. The package in the attachment also containt a release for 0.975v with 1GHz core clock and 2500MHz memory. All clocks of 790MHz-1000MHz and maybe even lower should now be 0.975v. The ones below should throttle like we are used to. I really havent touched the voltage table. Just the maximum voltage limit which I lowered. So the ones in the voltage table higher than the maximum limit should fall back to the limit. You can say it's pretty impossible to decode the voltage table. Unless you have lot's of papers in A1 format 650m_2.02_1GHz_UV.zip
  21. I was actually joking. But my donation link is in the BIOS Mods thread of the Y500 (the thread which is not pinned). Work that's based on svl7's work I share with him obviously :)Consider buying TechInferno's Elite subscription instead. http://www29.zippyshare.com/v/8776771/file.html first try a.rom, if that doesn't work try b.romIt's possible that 1215mv is the real maximum.Make a backup of your current ROM first.I need to experiment more on this during the holidays.report back which one works.
  22. Mine also looks the same as above. My system is a few weeks old with a 650M equipped.
  23. I think it is possible don't get me wrong. But if you want I can test this for you.Btw can you remove whitelists? Are you 'the zedster' ?
  24. Ok when I first received my laptop i had a ST500LT012 HDD inside. Which would freeze with Rapid storage technology installedNow I replaced the hdd with a hitachi one...I use the stock hdd as a external hdd in a case. I tried two casings. But both seem to disconnect randomly with no patern. What's weird is when it disconnects or reconnects or stays disconnected the external hdd casing LED is always lit. Which indicates power is still being supplied to the external hdd.Is this a clear indication the HDD is faulty? or is now my USB port not giving enough power...What's scaring me as well is at the same time in Windows Event Viewer I notice 1 ERROR EVENT about BTHUSB. Which is probably my Advanced 6235-N's Bluethooth being disconnected of a error.I don't know if this is related. The problem was also present with my Atheros card, which was my stock card.So what should I do?I really don't see what is causing this.
