  1. I bought the Intel Centrino 6235 Advanced-N. From my experience web browsing is possible. But gaming is not, I have extremely high lag spikes on 802.11n 5GHz worked fine in the past. I haven't checked this now, but I am throwing my 6235 away. Going back to that stock Atheros chip.
  2. I doubt it would be possible. I keep googling until i find something explanations BIOS Upgrade - ThinkWiki flashing EC http://www.msi.com/html/pdf/How_to_make_a_bootable_flash_disk_and_to_flash_EC.pdf According to MSI admins you cannot backup EC. Bios and EC update? So probably it's not possible at all.
  3. Yeah sure. If you have a i7 make sure to run prime95 while overclocking and monitor power consumption. I have read reports that when overclocking too far battery starts to drain. 1000-1200mhz should be fine. I would personally do 1100 max for daily usage. If you turn off turbo boost you can overclock further. It's a 20C difference With a i7 probably 30C going from 2.1 to 3.1 compared to 2.5 to 2.9 on my i5 Trust me turning off turbo boost can help greatly with gaming comfortably. You will maybe have few fps less on games like Planetside 2 or ArmA 3. This is just how I prefer to play games. Most will disagree on these forums. You choose how you play. Remember that
  4. The only i7 models that work are 3612QM and 3632QM. Longterm you might want a 3612QM. If the VRMs or mosfets have less efficiency you might have a 3632QM only being able to get to 3612QM clock speeds. The 3632QM and 3612QM are priced the same. Wholesale - Buy China Wholesale Products from Chinese Wholesalers on DHgate.com is the best place to buy a cheap cpu. Or ebay. But dhgate was cheaper. The 3612QM is still a big win I will post within 8 days the VRM and MOSFET model numbers.
  5. Benchmarks ? can you do a speedtest.net for us?
  6. If you use Intel adapters. Make sure to disable Fast boot or hybrid boot. Because you will have bluescreens of crashing bluetooth adapters. I have this with my Atheros as well. Killer Wireless N is best choice latency wise. Like he said. If you are not a hardcore gamer it's not really worth it. Atheros is just fine for counter strike. Skill matters. Not hardware. trust me
  7. Disable turbo boost when gaming. Save yourself the trouble. This can drop temps from 100 to 75 easily. Turbo boost isn't really meant to be ran all times. It's just if the thermal specifications allow for it. I game without turbo boost and I haven't seen one game complaining. Use this together with nvidia framelimiter in nvidia inspector. Turn off vsync as you like. And you got a nice quiet and cool system...
  8. Apparently the 3612QM at 170 was the BGA version. PGA was also prices 230 euros. I found the cheapest CPUs at Wholesale - Buy China Wholesale Products from Chinese Wholesalers on DHgate.com or ebay I also ordered PK-1 thermal paste. (5g) - - - Updated - - - I am really wondering what longterm effect is of the 3632QM being so close to the limit. I will take a picture of my VRMs and mosfets. Temps should be equal to 3210M hopefully
  9. What would you guys pick? 3612QM 2.1-3.1ghz for €170 = 240USD 3632QM 2.2-3.2ghz for €230 = 300USD Is that 0.1 really worth 50 euros? lol Knowing the 3632QM is the real limit this motherboard can handle being a 35W mobo. Maybe I should take the 3612QM also being easier on the mosfets/VRMs?
  10. I made a guide for it. He read it. @ErYani if you want I can teach you over teamviewer how to work with the clock table. Thanks to schranzmaster I have this knowledge. I can teach you how to move the index manually so you have a base clock of 1GHz. There are still few things I would like to go over with
  11. It should work. GT650M uses practically the same VBIOS as the 660M with few minor changes. If it doesn't work you are doing something wrong
  12. Enjoy my kepler BIOS modding guide. I explained how to overvolt kepler cards. You never know when it may come in handy. Don't try this if you don't know what you are doing. kepler modding guide.zip kepler modding guide.zip
  13. Googled the 3610QM which topped out at 3.0GHz on all cores. So yes it is true. Why just not make 1 motherboard for 45W. It's much more cost effective than having multiple SKUs Still considering that beautiful i7 over a haswell y510p
  14. I tried already. I replaced three obvious instances in the vbios of the 650M to match the 750M but didn't work. I want to log the error message by nvflash but I cannot find how. nvflash -6 con750m2.rom > log.txt that was the command I tried.
  15. I thought v2.03 owners and later didn't have this problem. That's what I read. Good thing I read this. I was planning to do this during next week or so.
  16. Just go measure how much power you draw from the wall. I don't think it has anything to do with that. If it were your battery would be draining at the same time you are playing games. At least that's what I read from other users.
  17. Dismantle your Y500 Buy this: BIOS Chip Lenovo IdeaPad Y500 | eBay Replace that chip. And you are good to go. I could do this for you. But I am in no way responsible for breaking things. Although I have experience with this. But there is shipping costs and risk of damage during transport. This is still your best way.
  18. My country has Belgacom BBOX2 most crappy routers ever. Limited to 802.11g and 100Mb/s I am never able to get my ASUS EAN66 running at 450Mb/s probably because of the 100Mb/s limit. I'm stuck with 54Mb/s But if u want a supported card. A 6300 Ultimate-N will do from Intel. If you buy the 6235 you get bluetooth. But this card was kinda unstable with every driver. Partially because of Windows fast boot. Having Bluetooth AMP turned on with this card resulted into BSODs with ntfs.sys. What doesn't make sense. But believe me I found the link after watching it for 3 months. The 2230 has indeed a very high ping. - - - Updated - - - Has someone sent svl7 the 2.04 version already ?
  19. You can install a 6235 Advanced-N Centrino if you disable fast boot on Windows 8. Else you will have BSODs. If I were you I would go with the 6300, which does not have Bluetooth. And it's also officially supported. No need for BIOS mod with this one.
  20. The only way to know if your motherboard supports 45W CPUs is by dismantling the whole thing and look up the FRU if you find it. I would rather just buy the 3632QM instead. That 0.2GHz wont make a lot of difference.
  21. Yes, Thaiphoon burner for RAM Timings. One disadvantage, you have to flash the SPD table every time you want to change something. So it's dangerous. I use it to flash known stable RAM timings on my desktop. So shortly no. It is possible but going one step too far might cause so bad corruption being so unstable you can throw the RAM sticks away. And there is a slight change of the SPD being RW protected.
