  1. Hello everyone, I've had an alienware m14x for a while now, and I've been looking to upgrade my RAM. Currently, I have the i5-2410m processor, and I think that the maximum clock rate I can get to is 1333MHz. I heard alot of people using this as their upgrade and had commented that this has nice heat dispersion Newegg.com - Kingston HyperX 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1600 HyperX Plug n Play Laptop Memory Model KHX1600C9S3P1K2/8G I was wondering if there is a 1333MHz option to that model? I can't seem to find it. Any help is greatly appreciated! Raymosrunerx PS: I really like this forum, I stumbled upon this the other day and decided to give it a go... I got my GPU to go 800/1600/1080, which is pretty sweet http://forum.techinferno.com/alienware-m14x/561-%5Bmod%5D-voltage-increase-nvidia-gt-555m-7.html

  2. Hi and welcome to T|I! The 1600MHz RAM will automatically downclock itself to 1333MHz if your CPU doesn't support higher clocked RAM, so you can't go wrong with this kit.

  3. M17x-r1 had dpc latency issues. I'm not sure if that is what's causing the OP issues or something else. The Dell drivers for the notebook would be the first place to start. If that doesn't work, check for throttling. Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk

  4. I suspect the nvidia chipset drivers... I would unistall them and make sure the default Windows ones are up and check again

  5. Well my point is, there might be something buggy with the CURRENT version of the driver. What makes you think this is not the case? (It happened to me few times last few months with AMD drivers.) To figure out whether it is the CPU or GPU that is throttling you could run a CPU-based test such as wPrime and compare the result with someone else with a similar CPU (I'm sure Googling it you can find someone else's score with that CPU). For GPU, you can run any of the GPU benchmarks such as 3DMark06 or 3DMark Vantage and compare them with the scores here: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M - Notebookcheck.net Tech , they should be about the same.
