Staff Sargent
I have been reading and watching vids about alienware fx lighting and know you can change the colors and do other cool stuff. Well I was wondering if on the m17 could I have just the keyboard and track pad lit, or at least turn off the front grills? I ask this because I will be using it in bed often and would like just the keys and pad lit so the wife doesn't have a light in her face. svl7
Yes, this should work. At least it does with the M15x, don't think they changed it for the M17x r3, though I might be wrong.
Nospheratu
Maybe someone with an R3 can confirm but it is possible by setting the speaker grills to black with the Command Center. For much more freedom in changing the lighting colors you should try AlienFX Lite. I'm not certain as to whether the R3 is supported, but you can select any color you can think of and aren't limited to CC's predefined color palette . You even have the option to change the "eyes"(HDD active indicator) a different color to the alienhead on the power button which the Command Center doesn't offer. Alex Six
you can turn off the grills and the "alienware" logo. the status bar ie touch controls, HDD indicator (alien head), and touch pad cannot be turned off. unless you go dark. kiru
Yep, you can definitely turn off the front speaker grills by just selecting the Black color in the Command Center.
