mw86
Jimbo the 6990M's have more overclock room than 6970m.. I have reached those speeds you can go a bit higher on the core... try a slightly lower memory setting and raise the core.... also you wont be able to get the core as high on 3dmark11 as you will on Vantage cheers! Jimbo
Ok so, All fans were maxxed, I simply can't push these GPUs any harder without more cooling or more voltage, dropping the memory speed doesn't help. But it is getting colder outside, possible 8600 tonight.
Founder StamatisX Posted September 20, 2011 Author Founder Share Posted September 20, 2011 when I was benching my R2 I used to hold it with my hands verticaly ( and sometimes in front of the A/C ) it helped
Jimbo
I sit mine in an A shape /\ for max cooling.
Founder StamatisX Posted September 20, 2011 Author Founder Share Posted September 20, 2011 Hehe that works even better (as long as you don't have the A/C on the wall)
mw86
Lol you guys i was lucky at my parents their AC points the air straight up.. so I rested the front of lappy on a chair and other stuff and rest back bottom directly over the ac air flow... can't wait to get more AC benches in just I can't always anytime go and do that. I know I can go above... I got points away from it with no AC i just need more time with my parents one soon.**********my QS vs Johns ES is nearly the same we are both neck and neck on stuff. I barely beat his wprime 1024m i only beat his by mere fractions of a second. Though I did get some good wprime 32m scores and Super Pi... like I said nearly same chip overlocked and its all about how you set it. Jimbo
Finally got it to 45x, required a serious lowering of the voltage...?
widezu69
You mean flex? To run really high CPU clocks, your flex should be lowered to around 15.
Jimbo
Yeah, flex. I had it on 14 and was topping out at 43x, lowered it to 5 and now it will hit 45x (but 3dm11 hangs) I'm going to try ~7-8 next.
svl7
Are you using the Intel GPU or AMD GPU while CPU benching?
Jimbo
AMD after mw86 helpfully reminded me that the integrated adds heat to the CPU.
mw86
Jimbo thats awesome now to match my 167~ secs just attempt a 4600mhz-4650mhz and I needed 15 flex for that run but thats because I did it at 4638mhz... cheers keep up the great work Jimbo. Try 4.8ghz or higher for 32m and you will get close to my 5.2~secs

svl7
Wow, awesome!!! This CPU is very impressive... 5GHz on a mobile processor Time is my enemy... when I have more of it there plenty more I've got up my sleeve lol Yeah, most benching sessions get either limited by time or lack of cooling... can be frustrating.
