Jimbo
Any and all competition is welcome, that's kinda the point for me. At least give me some teasers though, all this reference to a "monster system" has me salivating, especially when you use that phrase in the context of competing with mine! If it's a 990x/quad 580 build (or something like that) then monster respect and I look forward to seeing numbers, and miserably failing to compete with them. BTW I am apparently top 20 worldwide for 3dm11 GTX 580 SLI. :D Benching my 18x at the moment, back up to 7500, I want 7750.

Looking forward to see your M18x scores, @mw86 needs competition Congrats on your 580 SLI score! Your guess isn't too bad, it's going to be a kind of a 580 quad system, you'll see. Lol, wish I had the money for such a rig...
Jimbo
Still stock as a rock, TOTALLY tapped out without a freezer or some DICE - I was sitting outside in 5c temp. mw86
I've been in 18-20Celcius Ambient temps for those benches. Respect. LOL. i'll buy an AC just for this lol you'll see. I'm waiting on the AMD7000M hoping to jump past 6990m from 6970m and to top 7000M. That would bring me near 31k vantage overall score since i'm gpu starved. 580M would kick but... but 7000M series should be less $$ and be stronger than 580M. Could be able to drop em right into the card slots. Lol if I had 6990M I'd be thrashing them Jimbo... maybe you guys know where cheap dual 6990M are? Lol if I had a full rig I wouldn't use anything other than this!

Jimbo
I'll be pretty happy if I can hit 8500 (3dm11), I don't NEED to beat all those smug NBR guys, but I'd LIKE to.

My bottleneck is the 6970mYour previous post was better; wait for the 7 series. I have yet to see a real tangible difference (outside of Crysis 2, which I think is more of an AMD ploy to bump drivers to "drive" sales) in ANY game. I mean we are talking a few frames here and there despite the higher clocks and shaders. Heck 5870's still are formidable and those are on an old architecture. Just wait for the 7 series. I have no problems maxing any game right now with CF 6970's.

Jimbo
Thanks to @mw86 for the help with the 2920xm, this whole laptop overclocking using turbo is totally new to me. On a side note, I officially hate ribbon cables. Quick run, nowhere near max yet as it's way too hot currently (27c ambient).

Jimbo
Can't seem to get past 850 on the core/1200 memory, even the ICD doesn't seem to have helped. Ambient temps are at least 10c higher than my highest sucessful clocks (855/1225). Can't even get 850/1215 to run at the moment.
Founder StamatisX Posted September 19, 2011 Author Founder Share Posted September 19, 2011 an A/C would help at this point...
Jimbo
I've been thinking of picking up a good portable unit anyway, this may just give me an excuse. I need one that can be set on high and not shut off when the temp hits a certain level though, they never go low enough. Thanks for deleting the double post.
